Great price for this Bible. I have the leather version at home and would thoroughly recommend. The ESV is a great translation, endorsed by the likes of Pastor Mark Driscoll and John Piper. The commentary is excellent and the quality of the paper etc is excellent. Good find!

Not based on Textus Receptus though but on other sources ...

This study bible will offer judicious and generally plausible explanations of any problems you perceive in the Biblical text. It is written by Ph.D.s and professors from top academic establishments, including Cambridge and Edinburgh. Instead of cavalierly dismissing the Bible, pick up a copy of this study bible at this price and see if the explanations are convincing or not.

There are essays which explain textual criticism too, defending the methodology behind the text which underlies the translation, which by the way is the approach of virtually the entire scholarly community. Few scholars today think that the textus receptus is a reliable text--I would not attack someone who sides with the TR, but is that much really at stake any way?

At under £25 delivered, it is surely worth checking out this award-winning volume whatever your religious/theological convictions.

I guess I don't quite get why a simple posting noting a great deal on a religious resource is regarded as an excuse for an anti-religion session by a select few on here. Why not keep comments to the product at issue and whether or not it is a good purchase as a religious resource? This is hardly the right venue for a debate about the philosophy of religion or the authority of the Bible. Indeed the ESV Study Bible itself has essays on such topics. Why not read it and then comment on what it says--at least then we'd be discussing the item itself....

Yes indeedy - the comments on this deal have been well censored. Says a lot about how secure those who have complained are in their beliefs - happy to preach, not so happy to listen to others!

For the record, dear paranoid unbelievers, I did not ask for censorship and one of my postings was removed along with the others.

But I think you're the ones living in cloud-cuckoo-land if you are denying that some of the censored postings were mocking and offensive. Why not just confess the sins you committed and be forgiven by the Moderator?

Where does anyone accuse you in particular of being behind the censorship of this thread? And you accuse others of paranoia!

I suspect your definition of mocking and offensive is somewhat different from that of the proverbial 'reasonable person', particularly where it concerns your religious beliefs, moreover, many of the comments that were deleted were not unreasonable - probably just the mods wishing to avoid things spiralling out of control.
