Pretty good price for what's regarded as one of the better food probes available. Instant read (within 3 seconds). So ideal for the professional or the budding home chefs.

Sorry I dont understand, how do you check fridge temp with a probe thermometer?
As long as the probe is not destroyed pushing it into a medium, then it will display a temperature. The last I checked Fridges were filled with cold air. Now if it was solid ice or cooled lava, then inserting the probe would be problematic.
Sorry I dont understand, how do you check fridge temp with a probe thermometer?
Nearly all probes are calibrated to + / - 1degree, so you really don't need to go over the top paying £24.

If that's your thing, that's fine.

But personally I find cheapo ones are brilliant. We use £3 ones at work for checking fridge temperatures, and whenever we calibrate them they are within + / - 1degree Celsius.
Local environmental health are more than happy too.

got one very similar on Internet months ago for £3.99 and free p&p from UK. works brilliantly, so cold from me

This is a professional grade tempature probe, with a calibration certificate and it is half price.

This annoys me more than it should, but your 3.99 probe is just junk.

Honestly, this is the best instant read thermometer you can buy.

Just a heads up - as anyone who ordered one of the 'slightly damaged packaging' ones at £10 from eBay will now have discovered - the eBay ones are identical to the others at £12.

That's to say, the packaging isn't in any way damaged. They're in every way identical to the £12 ones being sold by the same seller on Amazon.

And they're really loud - and really solidly made! ;)

If wotan's experience is representative of the quality, I'd stay well clear. Thermometers must be accurate, as there's massive medical implications if the temp is wrong, especially with infants, the infirm etc.
This thing doesn't work, waste of money.

This specific model. Bought a braun and it worked fine. I took it to the hospital and checked her temps after the nurses to be sure it did what it should.

I totally agree............... Get a Braun
Stay away from these. Got one last year. Temps were always lower and never correct. Thankfully I had a backup because my mum just had chemotherapy and any sign of a temp meant getting her straight to hospital so I wasn't taking any chances. She woke up one morning with a temp of 39.8, this said her temp was 36.7. Ambulance crew confirmed the higher temp.

Returned for a replacement, replacement was exactly the same. I know it gets a lot of great reviews, which is why I got one in the first place. But from experience they're far from accurate. And could very well cause a lot of harm if say a sick child had a super high fever and you didn't realise thanks to this. Or say you were in the same situation as me but didn't have a back up.
