You are very welcome.

I have previously purchased (at their initial prices); "Hyperballoid HD", "Mushroom Wars", & "Magic Orbz", & will probably now buy (once my kids learn of the price reductions) both "TV Show King" & "Critter Crunch".

Note: There is also still time to catch the offers from the last fortnight (before the PlayStation Store content is updated in a few hours time):

mushroom wars is like tower defence but with a difference but doesnt take long to get used to, hyperballoid and magic orbz are block breaker games with magic orbz having a more 3d environment instead of just the rectangular blocks at the top of the screen, enjoyed that more than hyperballoid.

tv show king i havent played but out of the 3 i hav played id say magic orbz is a steal at 3.99

I have all but the first you mentioned.

If you favour "Breakout"/"Arkanoid" style games (& already have the excellent "Shatter") I would buy "Magic Orbz". The new 3D approach is a refreshing change & can be quite challenging at times. Two-player local game-play is supported too.

"Hyperballoid HD" is just far too slow to pick up & play. The first time I downloaded it my initial game took 2.5 hours to complete! I have been back to it once since, but the speed of the ball moving across the screen is enough to send anybody to sleep just waiting for it to fall anywhere near your on-screen paddle.

"Mushroom Wars" is fun if you can play against another player (either locally or online). By yourself it gets a little repetitive but playing against somebody else the challenge is always there to beat your opponent faster than they can beat you to the goal.

Visually, & in some respects it plays, like "Pixel Junk Monsters" but more strategy is required to become victorious against an opponent.

BFN,

fp.

[EDIT]: Just read Peterdj41's response. I concur with the best value purchase being "Magic Orbz" as there are many different levels from the offset with additional Level Game Packs available to download (at cost) if you feel the need for more thereafter.

Cheers guys, Hyperballoid HD is off the list.

Will defo get Magic Orbs later when back from work.

(You're welcome). Have you tried "Shatter" already? I can certainly recommend that.

You sound like a serious SingStar player though! Have you ever uploaded any performance videos of your vocal antics?

There is a vast majority of any (standard PS3) hard drive capacity eaten just with those downloads.

I hope you never have a hard drive failure & have to re-download them again! :)

...this is a deal listing for PlayStation Store items reduced in price from their initial cost on their day of release.

The newly released packs for "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" have only been available from today & hence are not a "deal" because they have only ever been one price.

I commented on the European PlayStation Blog entry for "Joe Danger" with suggestions for PS3 Trophies for the game (at the request of the Project Manager of the title), but alas he never saw fit to acknowledge the effort I put in.

Coming To PSN: Joe Danger

The lack of courtesy has not put me off the title, but it is still disappointing to find that my contribution was not at least acknowledged.

PS. Look at the screen images at the above blog article & see if you can spot an issue with the text describing the riders position in the race.

How embarrassing! :)

I cannot check the http://PSNStores.com web site at present (due to it being blocked on the Corporate network I am typing on), but (from my notes I have to hand at present)...

"Final Fantasy VII" was available on 4 June 2009 at a cost of £7.99 (EUR 9.99 / USD 9.99 from the US 'Store), and...
"Final Fantasy VIII" was available on 4 February 2010 at the same price(s).

I do not think either has been discounted to date.

Thanks.

Would you mind stopping by again & letting me/us know about your thoughts on each? I'm particular interested to see if you have the same opinion of "Hyperballoid HD" as I did.

I'll probably be buying "Critter Crunch" in any respect (to keep my youngest loin-fruit entertained).

Well, I've spoke to them in person and they're still not any better - they just fobbed me off - seriously makes me wonder whether my money should go into their pockets.

Critter Crunch is an excellent little puzzle game. I have happily wiled away a good few hours playing it. Well worth parting with your hard earned PSN credit.
#27
Thanks for the update again FP.

I think I'll be picking up Magic Orbz. I like a good block breaker. I do actually have Shatter but have never played it (or, indeed installed it). Tempted by a few of the others but my list of games (both retail and PSN) that I haven't played doesn't need to grow anymore than necessary.

Been through the whole redownloading them before, boy did it take a while.

Never uploaded stuff and don't play it much at all, just like the idea of having them threre if i get the temptation to play it hehe.

Bye For Now
FP (short for Function Programming) is a programming language created by John Backus to support the function-level programming paradigm. This allows for the elimination of named variables.
The values that FP programs map into one another comprise a set which is closed under sequence formation:

if x1,...,xn are values, then the sequence 〈x1,...,xn〉 is also a value

These values can be built from any set of atoms: booleans, integers, reals, characters, etc.:

Hope this helps.
boolean : {T, F}
integer : {0,1,2,...,∞}
character : {'a','b','c',...}
symbol : {x,y,...}

⊥ is the undefined value, or bottom. Sequences are bottom-preserving:

〈x1,...,⊥,...,xn〉 = ⊥

FP programs are functions f that each map a single value x into another:

f:x represents the value that results from applying the function f
to the value x

Functions are either primitive (i.e., provided with the FP environment) or are built from the primitives by program-forming operations (also called functionals).

An example of primitive function is constant, which transforms a value x into the constant-valued function x̄. Functions are strict:

f:⊥ = ⊥

Another example of a primitive function is the selector function family, denoted by 1,2,... where:

1:〈x1,...,xn〉 = x1
i:〈x1,...,xn〉 = xi if 0 < i ≤ n
= ⊥ otherwise

Interesting explanation above for BFN and FP, particularly for FP but do you not reckon it's just short for fan pages?

Btw critter crunch is a great title for the price so I reccomend it to anyone that likes that style of game.

That is one brilliant game! It's pretty hard to get used to the AI especially on hard but once you've figured it out it gets pretty easy...I did have a lot of fun on it!

:w00t::-D , classic!!

Great post by the way fp heat added, you seem to remind me everytime they have deals on, its appreciated, got loads of credit to spend on psn and with these deals its lasting me ages:thumbsup:

cant decide if I want tv show king, I have all 3 buzz games, not sure if this will be a bit naff in comparison?
#38
Critter Crunch is one of the best puzzle games I've ever played. It was already far too cheap for a game with a story mode and online multiplayer and now it's just over £2 I can't understand why everybody wouldn't pick it up.

TV Show King is pretty horrible. If you think Buzz is unbalanced and allows a ridiculous comeback without knowing many questions then TV Show King is 100 times worse. It uses a roulette wheel and quite often you can lose all your money while the computer or other player gets their money tripled. The questions are also very esoteric and American.
#39
Critter Crunch is far and away the best title on offer here .
#40
Already having Critter Crunch and having played it to death, I was thinking about getting Mushroom Wars but I wonder if I'll actually play it much. You never know with strategy games you can only play against a computer.
