FYI: A playable demo (Free Trial) version of "Section 8" was available from the US PlayStation Store last week (File Size: 3629MB).

PS. I've just listed a Competition thread:

Win A 125i BMW Performance! (by downloading/playing the PS3 multiplayer demo of "Blur")

BFN,

fp.

Edited By: fanpages on Aug 04, 2010 20:35: Added link to Competition.

Yes, I think I'll be buying "Flock" this week.

My kids are still playing the demo that was available with the US (only) Qore™ Episode 07: Dember 2008 digital 'magazine' available from the US PlayStation Store.

BFN,

fp.

PS. Thanks for your comments/votes, guys.

Thanks buddy. I don't mind the cold votes if they are just accompanied with a comment; but I appreciated yours (even if you hadn't added some heat).

I've not played "Zombie Apocalypse". I'm a little Zombie gamed-out after playing "Burn Zombie Burn!". I don't seem to be getting anywhere with that, but it is fun trying.

Of course "Dead Rising 2" will be released soon (1 October 2010 in the UK), so we may find a Zombie-themed update that week (maybe even some "Resident Evil" franchise titles/downloadable content at a reduced price). I'm hoping that the inclusion of PlayStation Move support with "Resident Evil 5" will make the control system into that you can experience in "Resident Evil 4 (Wii Edition)" too. Not long to wait for that either! :)

There is a trial version of ZA on the store, and you get to try out 4 levels and various weapons.
The style of play is a bit similar to Super Stardust HD if you enjoy that kind of thing.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll look at Flock and Switchball. Don't know what was up with the cold voting. Maybe a load of 360 fanboy losers. My 360 is the preferred of my two consoles but I enjoy them both; I'd certainly never get my jollies off over such a poorly designed and error prone console. The 360 though has the better games catalogue imo which is the one and only reason it stands as my favourite of the two.

Keep on posting these as I check HUKD a lot more often than I check on PSN or on that blog of theirs.

I do like "Super Stardust HD"... I still play it a few times a month. Very few "disposal" downloadable titles fit into this category ("Pain" being another of these) so, yes, I'll give "Zombie Apocalypse" a go.

Thanks.

Thanks. I also have an Xbox 360 (Super Elite). I bought it to play all the platform-Exclusive titles you cannot find on the PlayStation family. I'm still favouring the PS3 for my main gaming, but I have been quite surprised by the depth of the colours of the '360. "Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts" was particularly impressive (to me).

The Official EU PlayStation Blog has been presenting me with "400 Bad Request" error messages today. Is this the same for you?

I think you are alone in this...
M$ Points rip off LINK
At least with PSN you know EXACTLY what you're paying.

1942 is a good game... if only it saved your progress. Been on it many a time but it never does !

To be fair (and referencing the first comment in that thread), the minimum amount you can add to the PlayStation Network "Wallet" is £5.

This is imposed so that the charges made by the credit card issuer are at least a certain percentage of the transaction. Many High Street store retailers operate this 'rule' as well (but not for Debit Cards, in most cases).

Edited By: fanpages on Aug 04, 2010 13:19: Clarification: £5 minimum for both Debit & Credit cards for the PlayStation Network/Store "Wallet".

Maybe this was done to be like the original arcade video game, "1942" (by Capcom in 1984).
"1942: Joint Strike" was developed by Backbone Entertainment, but published by Capcom.

That's a fair point, fp, but most of the complaints about XBL is the whole "points" system, many people complain about PSN, however I think using real currency was the best move (if you pardon the pun) for pure clarity, you know exactly how much your Home Avatar t-shirt has cost you, or in my case Sweet-Tooth and ice cream truck for ModNation Racers.

Edit:

Fanpages you should add that the marvel ultimate alliance dlc will be added back tot he store aswell, was confirmed on the blog post to be later on tonight or tomorrow

Posted on 4 August, 2010 at 2:56 pm by Ross McGrath

Good news from Activision!
The Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 DLC has been approved to be put back on the store – that’s the Juggernaut character, the Character and map pack and the compatability pack.

It’s just missed our publish cut-off but the lovely people downstairs are going to try and squeeze it in early tomorrow or later this evening if they can – either way you won’t have to wait the whole week.

Thank you all for being so patient.

I like 1942 - picked it up when it was on offer previously. Best played with an arcade stick and rose tinted glasses.

Super stardust soundtrack isn't free, it is £1.59

Booooooo!

PS. There is a RDR short movie on the US PSN site.

:( can't see a free SSHDsoundtrack too.
Unless you found it on another way?

I'm passing on Zombie Apocalypse, and waiting for Dead Nation instead (from the makers of SSHD). It looks like it could be very good indeed.

Hands On

Cheesy Trailer

........I just read the replies from the developer on the PSBlog entry, and the game is sounding even better now. It actually has a story (gasp) and is level, not arena based (shock), so is starting to tick my "need-a-left4dead-type-fix" boxes. I love the sound of the community features too:

"As the PlayStation Network checks your account for geographic location, Dead Nation will actually start users off in their virtual country of residence, along with other players from that area. Then, players will cooperate as a whole to kill the zombies in that nation collectively and stats are displayed on the world map as you go.” - IGN

Thanks again for the heads up as usual fp.
I would get 1942: Joint Strike but i have played it to death on the 360. Amazing game though in my opinion.
#33
Heat added for you my man' ;)
#34
Not really a deal in my opinion. It is just the usual playstation store update. This is more of a 'notice' rather than a 'deal.' Just instead of visiting the playstation eu blog you posted it on here.
#35
Gonna take a look at Gundemonium Collection and Superstardust ost if its free
#36
i agree with shadowdogg

personally i also dont like the idea of paying money for downloadable content but each to their own.

no doubt in the near enough future we wil have no choice and all movies/games etc will only be available as downloadable media.

That's a bit like saying regarding a hot grocery deal at Tesco's;

"Not really a deal IMO, you just went to Tesco website and listed all the really cheap things"

Cheap = deal, no? The post is useful for those who didn't check PSN or the Playstation blog. Whether its hot or not depends on the quality of the games and whether people want them.

Heat added for 1942 and Flock although IMO both were horrendously overpriced in the first place, and this 50% discount price should be the RRP. Played the demo of flock and not sure it deserves my money, will have to redownload and have another look. The big problem (as with all PSN games) is that you can buy a full priced disc game 2nd hand for the same money, and sell it on for minimum loss. If I bought flock I'd probably play it a few times, and then leave it rotting on my hard drive for the rest of eternity.

What's switchball like - any good? (Off to check youtube)........

Looks good - can anyone comment on the motion controls (sixaxis) as this review makes it sound a bit iffy:
You have ways on controlling the ball. One of them is the token analog stick and the other is using the Sixaxis controls. I found the Sixaxis to be a bit of a chore and not very responsive for this game as there are times when you have to gain speed to get through obstacles and I could never build up enough using Sixaxis. Whereas using the analog stick gave me better control over where I wanted to go and how much speed I built up.

Any chance of a patch for move?

I think its the Pain ost that is free,

Sorry, guys, either my mess-up or a mis-communication some way along the line, but the "Super Stardust HD" soundtrack I listed is not free. I have removed it from the thread description.

Peterdj41: Thanks. I will update the thread later when the content is available.

PS. I still cannot view the EU PlayStation Blog via Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 ("400 Bad Request"). The US PlayStation Blog is fine, & the EU PlayStation Blog can be viewed without issue in other web browsers installed on my laptop. Anybody else experiencing this?

"400 Bad Request" usually means that the web server doesn't trust the client machine requesting the data (or the request is mis-formed). It was working yesterday, but today, not. Odd!

BFN,

fp.
