Yes, I was just going to add a similar comment:

A quiet week for me this week with just the following taking my fancy...

Super Stardust Impact Mode (£1.59/€1.99) Rating: PEGI 3

I was ever hopeful the European Store would have the following available, but it just seems to be North America for the time being...

Yeah PSN lacks any good weekly stuff. I go months without seeing anything worth the asking price. Last month I did buy a stack of the Move games though which were all worth it.

What did you buy? Any specific "stand out" titles or recommendations?

Nothing for me tbh

FP - a few questions

1 - Can you set PS3 to remote download/queue like you can with xbox.com?

2 - Vietnam Battlefield pack - I heard you can get it cheaper somehow than the £9.99 or whatever it is using EA Store. Any ideas?

3 - Do you play the Nam add-on? Mighht be up for downloading if you do

Cheers bud

BTW FP - if you have an xbox I reccomend both of the Keflings games @ 400MS Points this week, slightly gay but a lot of fun

Yeah PSN lacks any good weekly stuff. I go months without seeing anything worth the asking price. Last month I did buy a stack of the Move games though which were all worth it.

What did you buy? Any specific "stand out" titles or recommendations?

BFN,

fp.

hey i also brought some move games,

flight control is worth the £2

planet golf is good for the price (online multi)

hustle kings is really good, i think it should have been lower but still worth it (online multi)

tumble is good as well, not really got round to playing it much so cant completely say but it does make really good use of the move.

I would have grabbed Hv bowling but its £5 something with out the addons and it lack multi player online

I agree... but it was listed at £7.99 originally; they didn't sneak it up just as you were about to buy it!

As I've mentioned in previous deal listings of this type, you have the advantage of being able to play the "PS[One] Classics" on up to 5 activated consoles (currently just PS3 & PSP[go]) simultaneously. Where "activated" refers to a console that has your PlayStation Network account details stored (including your password).

For this title, though, you can probably source a disk-based version that you will be able to play in any PAL format (i.e. European/UK market) PlayStation (One), PS2, &/or PS3 console.

The convenience of being able to play on both a PS3 & PSP is probably what is driving the high price.

If you think it too high, wait a couple of months & there is bound to be a reduction in price or a temporary offer.

Cheers bud

To respond in turn...

1. If you become a PlayStation Plus subscriber this is a feature offered as part of the membership (duration). You can also link a PSP[go] to your (home based) PS3 console using "Remote Play" (as long as both have connection to the Internet & your PS3 "Master" account is set to "automatic log-on") & use your PS3 remotely on the PSP console screen to download items & use the console as if you were in front of it. Some functions are restricted but you can navigate PlayStation Store contents & purchase/download if you wish to.

(Further restricted "Remote Play" functionality is also possible with the more recent Sony VAIO laptops)

2. It is included as part of the "Ultimate Edition" of "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" (Disk-based) but that version has now been discontinued from manufacture.
[CORRECTION]: The "Onslaught" mode is within the "Ultimate Edition", not the "Vietnam" expansion pack [/CORRECTION]

3. I don't have the "Vietnam Pack", but plenty of members in this thread do:

"Battlefield: Bad Company 2" & "Killzone 3" HotUKDeals Clan Roll-call

Not seen you in that thread for a while. Come back & say "Hi" :)

I didnt think the Vietnam add on came with that pack? Thought it was just Battlefield 1943 and all the add-ons MINUS Nam? GUTTED if thats the case....can you even get the Ultimate edition anymore? Might get it if it has everything rather than buying all the add-ons seperately

Sorry, you are right... I've just re-checked. I was getting confused with the "Onslaught" mode.

The "Ultimate Edition" has the standalone "Battlefield: 1943" game [also available from PlayStation Store], the "Onslaught" mode (previously available as downloadable content), four vehicle upgrades & two weapon unlocks (the latter two being as was originally within the "Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Limited Edition" as "VIP" content).

Apologies again. I stopped playing "Battlefield: Bad Company 2" before any of the non-VIP related content was available as I was spending way too much time playing & applied a self-imposed break.

The other "clan" members carried on though & bought the additional "Onslaught" & "Vietnam" game packs.

Any of the 'regulars' should be better placed to answer any queries; certainly in preference to me (as I have just proven)! :)

You can only buy the Vietnam add on from the PSN Store - you will have to pay £9.99 until they decide to put it on offer. I believe the 360 and PC versions can be had cheaper atm. It is a really good expansion though, and well worth a tenner.

Poor special offers this week - maybe SCEE haven't noticed the onset of Spring.........? :|

Don't forget to get the trial edition of MAG from the US store now - unlimited playing time, but progress will be capped at level 8. Trial will also be hitting the EU Store next week, for those with a little more patience.

Poor special offers this week - maybe SCEE haven't noticed the onset of Spring.........? :|

Maybe there will be a mass reduction of "Disney" PS(One) Classics next week so the kids have something to do in front of a TV instead of getting some exercise or doing their homework during half-term week/over Easter.

Then again, perhaps we'll get some more avatars, a few wallpapers, & a reduced set of videos compared to the 'Store across the Pond.

Am I right in thinking you enjoy "Super Stardust HD", 'f'c'? Will you be buying the new add-on?

I'm still waiting for "Dead Nation" (also by Housemarque) to be on offer.

Actually, I would be tempted in a few of the items in the "Permanent Price Reductions" list if they were half the price again...

Ridge Racer (PSP) now £7.99/EUR9.99 i.e. £3-£4
Tekken 6 (PSP) now £15.99/EUR19.99 i.e. £7-£8
Split/Second: Velocity (PSP) now £19.99/EUR24.99 i.e. £9-£10
Toy Story 3 (PSP) now £23.99/EUR29.99 [possibly, although under £10 would be better]

I would have thought that the total of the larger number of sales at a lower price would far exceed a small amount of sales at double the price.

It would also encourage more customers to "get with the program[me]" regarding digital content.

Not that I want that day, but just an observation!

There surely cannot be many people still buying the Universal Media Disc [UMD] based equivalents at anywhere near the price of the digital delivery counterparts.

However, Sony will not be setting the prices; it is down to the publishers of the individual titles.

You're welcome.

My Sony VAIO was not one of those that was "supposed" to support the "Remote Play" (& remote keyboard) application(s), but due to the Australasian Sony web site allowing me to download the necessary files I disproved that theory!

Maybe see you online in the meantime. Either way... we've all saved money this fortnight. Well done Sony! ;)

Thanks for your clarification.

I have added the issue with the multiple line-spacing to the continuing list of examples in this "Feedback" thread:

You'd be surprised (well, maybe you wouldn't be) how many times I list these deals & provide the interim weekly updates & then forget to take advantage of the offers because I think "I'll do that tomorrow" & the offers expire before tomorrow arrives.

If I leave updates for a few weeks it takes hours to download just the video footage never mind any demo versions or additional content for titles I already own.

Although I have never made use of it, I suspect the facility for the Xbox 360 console to select items for download via the Xbox.com web site is a very useful feature to save time the next time the user goes online via their console.

...Maybe next generation? :)

Sony Online Entertainment axes 200 jobs, closes 3 studios

Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that over 200 jobs are to be axed across its studios.

The company is cancelling work on the long-in-development PC and PlayStation 3 title The Agency and closing three of its studios in Denver, Tucson and Seattle.

"As part of a strategic decision to reduce costs and streamline its global workforce, SOE announced today that it will eliminate 205 positions and close its Denver, Seattle and Tucson studios.

"As part of this restructuring, SOE is discontinuing production of The Agency so it can focus development resources on delivering two new MMOs based on its renowned PlanetSide and EverQuest properties, while also maintaining its current portfolio of online games. All possible steps are being taken to ensure team members affected by the transition are treated with appropriate concern.

"This strategic decision will have no impact on SOE's current portfolio of live games; additionally SOE will transition development efforts for the Denver and Tucson studios' suite of products to its San Diego headquarters."

"This strategic alignment of development resources better positions SOE to remain a global leader in online gaming and deliver on its promise of creating entertaining games for players of all ages, and servicing the 20 million players that visited SOE servers in just the past year."

Sony Online Entertainment released the PS3 and PC MMO DC Universe Online at the start of the year and this week launched hit free-to-play game Free Realms on the PlayStation 3.

It was relevant to the PlayStation Network downloadable (Massively Multiplayer Online [MMO] Role-Playing Game [RPG], or together [MMORPG]) title "Free Realms"; available from the North American PlayStation Store (but not yet available in Europe).

I also posted the same text in this dedicated "Misc" thread:
