"This is the European version of the console which is exactly the same specification as the UK version except that it comes with a 2 pin plug and lead and a free UK 3pin plug and lead. "

I have just bought a 60gb uk version off ebay for £450, I would have considered this if I hadn't got mine already.

I hope this will help someone.

At over £100 more than the 40Gb this really is a rip off. I know stocks are low but still doesnt make it a good deal.

Every one has there own reason for buying the 60gb and there are benefits such as PS2 compatability, SACD and memory card reader which you won't get with the 40GB.

Sony have now stopped producing the 60GB so to be able to buy one from a store rather then pay well over the odd's on eBay I think is a good deal.

I think he means that memory card reader + slimline PS2 (for 100% compatibility) + 40GB PS3 would still be cheaper than a 60GB at that price by £40 or so, then all you miss are the ethernet cable, 20GB of hd space which you can upgrade to 500GB if it really means that much to you and SACD playback which hardly anyone has discs of.

Bit expensive imo i know there isnt a great deal of 60gb Ps3s bout but that doesn't make it a good deal imo so voted cold myself.
#5
Surely the deal is cold if you can get a 60GB PS3 cheaper somewhere else.

Which you cannot AFAIK.

You can get a used ps3 from CEX with a 12 month warranty for £395. Although I would not normally compare new and used the cex ps3 is UK SPEC and, should you have a problem with with it, you would at least have somewhere to take it back to.

Euro import….
I think you will find the Wiis, DS, etc etc etc are all euro imports from shopto. I just hope they pay their tax on it all..since the owners last company went under after failing to pay £1million taxes.

will the 80gb will be over here at some point, with the ps2 graphics chip?

20Gb & 60Gb SKUs scrapped...

New versions on the way
Sony has announced it will be launching further models of the PlayStation 3 in future, which will be designed in response to end-user preferences in Japan.

This revelation came as Sony declared it would stop shipments of the 20Gb and 60Gb models of PlayStation 3 to Japan this month, focusing its efforts on the 40Gb model, according to Reuters. However, the company claimed the 40Gb version would not be the only PS3 SKU made available in Japan, with new models to be released at a later date.

The introduction of the 40Gb model led to a boost in Japanese PS3 sales, after the console struggled to keep up with rival platforms after its launch in November 2006 due to its high price point and lack of strong software titles.

So basically wait to see what they take out or put back into the next model. Whatever that might be. Sounds like a new unit to replace the 80GB version we still haven't got yet!

1.The PS3 was cheaper at play
2. You could import your own 60gb
3. You could import an 80gb US model for £400
4. The UK 80gb will be here soon..........and less than £400.

Sorry, but deals are not just based on whether you can get something cheaper. I could find you an old TV that is £2000 (still RRP) in 1 shop, but sold out everywhere else...even though its newer models are just £700. It wouldnt make that hot would it?

There are all kinds of factors that make a deal hot or cold.

I hardly vote..and I wouldnt agree on voting hot or cold because you love PS3 or 360. But £400...when it was £350 with 2games...and this is a euro import? Sorry, but not a great deal. The ship has sailed for this model. If you missed it...wait for the new boat (80gb) to come soon.

Why is everyone taking for granted the 80gb will be here soon. Sony have categorically stated the 80gb model wil not be released in europe. Anyway, the point of a 60gb model is backwards compatibility which will not be in any model from now on - EVER!

Sony have said a lot of things, and have pretty much gone back on every one of them.

The new model will arrive, probably when the new controllers make it this way.
