COLD. Not got a Facebook account and never want 1.
You sound like a fun person X)
Why would I want a facebook account? Does it make you a "fun person" having 1? How many imaginary friends you got on there? Manage to meet and have a good laugh with my friends in person in a pub or somewhere out, don't think they would be interested in my status updates. My children have accounts and use it quite a bit but they are CHILDREN not middle aged as I am.8)

Perhaps most of the friends you made through all the years stayed local. Or you lost touch or hardly ever meet the ones who didn't. Travel is cheaper the last 10 years. It's great for keeping in touch with real friends not living local in my experience.
Wish I was that young !!! nearer 60 than 50. As you say though each to their own. I just hate it when deals are dependant on you having a facebook account so you can like them.
Dang, don't have facebook - Any way to access the offer page without fb?

Well , i'm 49 so probably older than you & love my Facebook account. You can do much more with it than just post updates. I do voluntary work through the Animal Rehoming Network because of Facebook. Each to their own.

Thanks OP. You have saved me money. My original booking of 4 days in Paris for 2 came to £147. I was just in the middle of booking that and pay £147 before something told me to check on here. I have now changed my Paris trip to just a day visito and stay longer in Amsterdam instead. Thanks again.
Found loads for November at £19.50 each return, just click through the link. Lille xmas market starts on 25th November, so could go for that. I am so tempted to book, but going to Budapest at beginning of December, so not sure!!! Great find op.

These are good prices, a point of course, unless you have Euros is that's much more expensive then it was a 5 months ago!
On top of that, Paris has really degenerated a lot of over the last few years. I was just at a low C02 meeting and they have some interesting plans for transport and a new far reaching train line to try and reinvigorate the place.
Good place to visit is the catacombs, I thought they were quite unique!
If you can go before winter sets in, walking the Monmarte area is not only free but really pretty (if you don't mind steps).
Sainte-Chapelle is much better then Notre Dame if you want to see an amazing church.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going on 16th so will bear your suggestions in mind!

Eurostar - Europe from £29.00 one way

Just had an email from them with special offers of Europe from £29 one way. I'm not sure if this is particular cheaper than other offers but ideal for autumn city breaks.

Im guessing the return will be a ridiculous price as you will need to book that to get the one way price.
No it's same price. Don't bother looking at Paris tho I don't know why they've pretended it's included.
Did bother looking at Paris, waste of time. Wanted a cheep trip to visit my daughter who lives there. NONE
I LOVE Eurostar! I don't live in London, I live in Birmingham but I just catch Virgin Trains to Euston and a quick switch to St. Pancras. It may be a little longer than flying but I love there is no weight limit, no liquid restrictions, no turbulence & you're in the heart of Paris when you arrive! I paid £75 return from Birmingham to Paris via London back in May. I would have definitely booked if I wasn't going to Barcelona! Heat added

Thanks very much, don't know what the usual price is I've never been on eurostar. Anyone know what the luggage allowance is?
Concerning luggage you can take anything you want with you, (no weapons of course and especially this moment well you know how is the mood in france) no matter the weight or tge size of your luggage or how much you have. You just have to be able to hold it by yourself

There are plenty cheap seats available for Paris if you look later on e.g. November

I looked for 2 dates in November, must have just been unlucky then as they were both extortionate
Just booked a trip to and a return for Paris in November for £29 per person (Each Way).

All because you cannot find it next week for £29 doesn't mean it isn't there.

Edited By: dbizal on Aug 30, 2016 22:20: Made it clearer that it was each way for £29.

Good price but during a sale you can pick when you travel for £29 each way, worth bearing in mind you might get stiffed with trains leaving England at 5am or arriving in Paris at 11.30pm with this fare and you can remove that concern for the grand total of £8 return.
How often do you get the sale?
Great deal.
Do not forget to wear this:
http://www.pimco.pl/wp-content/uploads/EOD9-585x1024.png

Blimey, what has happened to Matthew Perry recently.
To get the £29 tickets that are usually on offer, don't you have to return within like 1-2 days though? Or is that just the normal fares you only get cheapest when you return next day? Isn't any mention on this on how long you can spend there with this offer unless I missed it.

£29 tickets are two singles so depending on the sales period and availability you could go to France and come back in six months if you wanted to.

In this sale, the travel period is 2nd June - 30th June, so maximum stay is around a month.

Nope, no issues on this side. You just have a look at what's happening with NUS up and down England to find out who the hateful bunch is. (clue: check out those I have listed in my previous post).

Get a life ... You have a weigh up risk just leaving the house. Can't put your life on hold just because of some nutters. Still more chance of being struck by lightening.

I flew back from Brussels 2 days before the metro and airport attacks after I told people "to get a life" when they warned against visiting due to high terrorist activity. So instead of getting a new life, I'll keep the one I have thanks.

You enjoy your visit though :)

So someone said "there are terrorists about you know", and you told them to get a life (I assume for reasons like not balancing the risk and not giving the terrorists control over you?).Then one more attack made in a place you'd visited completely shifted your perspective and made you totally risk averse? Understandable if you're suffered a major trauma maybe.
Deano1985
I have opted to go sailing around the somali coast, will not be using this deal, great offer though

It's totally safe to sail around the Somali coast, all the pirates have been recruited by Camoron/MI6 to go terrorise Syria with British soldiers training them in Jordan and Saudi Arabia where British soldiers have set up terrorist training camps.

I better you never swim in the sea either after seeing Jaws.....

London is probably more dangerous than either Paris or Brussels at the moment because of the recent attacks both have extremely good security.

I agree. I live in London and believe the risk is higher here at the moment. In fact I'm taking Eurostar to Paris tomorrow and believe I'll be safer there due to the security measures currently in place. I'm more nervous about going to a Med beach than Paris.
If they throw in a vest that protect you from flying particles associated with objects built by a not so popular, but well known 'gang' then I may consider it.

With this ticket, I don't know what you're doing, but I just managed to get to the booking screen for that date perfectly fine with direct trains? Are you booking on the website or through an app? I have been on this ship and in this cabin grade. It was fine for me on my own, two people would require some negotiation, but 4 will be a serious challenge.

It's a smaller, Italian ship. Many nationalities, English language is normally third or fourth in the announcements and the spoken languages. I thought the food is ok, but I hear complaints, and meal hours are limited. You're expected to pay for water, which seriously annoys me. An all-inclusive drinks package at €24 (from memory), including tea, coffee and water as well as alcohol would be advisable.

It's certainly not for the 'Out' voters. It'll be fun if you go knowing what to expect however.

Flight tickets cost £130. This look like a nice party for two couples without kids.

Nope, price for the cruise isn't valid for 4 adults sharing a cabin, only comes up at that price for 2A and 2C. If you aren't stuck to school holiday dates much better deals I'd guess.

How does putting a bike in a guard's van affect other passengers or are you just trolling?

From October to March: access to the permanent collections is free for all visitors on the first Sunday of each month.
From April to September: no free admission on the first Sunday of each month.

The above is from the website - so yes it is occasionally free. However pay 15EUR and hopefully miss some of the crowds! Well worth it (as are all the national galleries/ museums in London that the taxpayer pays for)

I agree that Marseille is a graffiti, dog pooh ridden dump. Avignon and Nice are much better. Unless Eurostar have sorted it since we last went in August, you get dumped off the train for an hour with your luggage at Lille so they can perform UK passport checks.

Nothing is forcing them through the tunnel, there are plenty of safe places for the migrants closer to their homelands. Most of them are not refugees, they are economic migrants who've paid very large sums of money to travel to a destination where they hope the streets will be paved with gold. If somebody risked their life on the tracks at your local train crossing they'd face prosecution and be viewed as stupid.

Wouldn't risk Eurostar - you only need an unlucky day and they'll close the tunnel because of migrants trying to break through.

Thats not sale this is normal off time price.Cold

Incorrect. A return to Lille is typically £150, even if booked in advance.

I'd rather fly with Ryanair or Sleazyjet, takes the hassle out of driving/petrol cost/parking inner cities.

I live in south wales, and after taking the Eurostar to Paris I would pick that over driving/flying anyway, so much less stress, I'm not sure how driving/parking is an issue on a passenger train any more than it is at an airport?

I personally find the entire journey is quicker by train than plane as there's no waiting around, get to walk around easily, more leg space than on a plane, no hassle of booking airport parking /waiting to get to the terminal on the free bus usually driven by some crazy teenager who think's he's in an F1 Bus

Hi, does anyone know any good hotel deals to match up with Paris?
Check AirBNB also. We went to Nice and stayed at an apartment via AirBNB and it was a great stay.
Never used AirBNB before there prices look good

We took the plunge with Airbnb for Eurostar to the south of France earlier this month and it worked out fantastically cheap. Will be doing this definitely from now on. Eurostar is great!
perfect place to meet **** from Crazyland with gun pointing into you..:) enjoy France..

Anything good to do in Brussels?

Yes. Plenty to do. We did a 4 day break there last year via Eurostar with a 4 year old. 3 days in Brussels and a trip out to Ghent by train. Check out Tripadvisor for ideas.

if anyone has found a specific range of arrival and departure dates with these low prices to paris please be kind enough to share ... all dates i try are hitting £300+ for 2 adults 2 children :(

From a quick look, the cheapest tickets in Standard appear to be around £47.50 per adult, which for a family of 2 adults and 2 children is £97 each way.

Try checking dates, they are separate bookings so choosing one particular date won't influence the price on your return date :)

Youths (12-25 yrs) £34.50

Youths are different to Children on Eurostar ticketing, the offer is £1 each way for children aged 4-11. The offer does not extend to youth tickets.

are there any chances of returning first of all with all the migrant conneries going on in France?

Getting there is the bigger issue...!

i have a 4 month old infant. shall i book an extra children's ticket this way the baby can occupy a seat (in a travel cot)?

You don't have to (if there are seats available I doubt they will force the baby to travel on your lap!) but to guarantee a seat and your peace of mind, it's worth the £2. Standard Premier is very busy more often than not.

Looks good.
Just double checking - these are direct trains aren't they?
Also I'd be likely staying in Barnet the night before, what time does the tube start?

Best to check TFL website, especially considering the night tube is going to come into operation soon (not sure when):

https://www.tfl.gov.uk/

It appears from around 5:30am you should be okay from High Barnet.

This might be combined with the TGV France sale: http://uk.voyages-sncf.com/en/deals/tgv-offer
The booking window expands well into "summer" from the 17th March, according to Loco2

Hot if you're close to London.

I'd rather £105 Flybe return flight from BHX, as driving down early to for the £59 ticket, plus cost of fuel to London and back & parking will be more than flying.

Or you could get the train to London. You're going to have to park at an airport if you fly anyway. You can't fly to Brussels with FlyBe and if you fly to Paris you'll need to factor in time and cost of travelling from CDG airport to the centre of the city and back.
You can book London to Paris/Brussels etc and board the train at Ebbsfleet or Ashford. Just arrive 30mins before your scheduled time so they can confirm your seat before it departs London.

We booked a London/Brussels return ticket, boarded at Ebbsfleet and got off at London on our return. No problems at all.
Just searched on the desktop link and the prices are now £59.
I've just searched every day for a 2 week period and the lowest singles are £34.50. I'm wondering if there is a discrepancy between mobile browsers and PCs. I'm searching on an iPhone following the link and there are definitely no £59 deals.

Some of the comments above are a bit harsh if someone's followed the link as I have.

Great rates whatever, for me though it's a kings ransom getting to London.

It's well worth looking at through tickets from your local station to Paris on the Eurostar site - you can get a really good deal for travel to St Pancras, as part of your Eurostar booking, especially at Peak Times. Those tickets have extra flexibility too - especially useful for the return journey. In my case the normal £25 fare from my home station to St Pancras is reduced to £10 - quite a saving!
Ok, thanks for that, though I live 3 times the distance from London than Paris is, lol.

Virgin Atlantic Amex not accepted either.

I use my virgin atlantic amex just fine.
Virgin Atlantic Amex not accepted either.
I don't remember seeing an invite for this but have just tried the link and it's now showing under My Offers in my account. Mines an actual Amex card, not one issued by someone else.

If anyone (arguably sensibly) doesn't want to put their details and credit card number into an unencrypted page then change the url in the deal link to:

https://merchantgeo.secure.force.com/...

Changes for secure link are in bold, rest of it is the same.
