They tend to have very good prices on last year’s stock anyway so I can believe this will be worthwhile so I’ll take a punt and vote hot. I bought a GT from them that was last year’s stock and it was a great deal for the spec and I was able to road test it as well.

It's not a bargain until bought!

Unless I lived very close I wouldn't risk my waste of time.

As they say, NO CALLERS, NO ADVANCE STOCK LIST'

So no real guarantee of any bargain!!!

Voted cold due to lack of certainty

You had no reason at all to vote cold! Why do people do that so quickly nowadays?! All the op was doing was pointing out that there was a sale on then, he didn't say it was definitely going to amazing. He didn't say to go down there, just pointing it out to cyclists like myself, and if it wasn't for his post then i wouldn't ever have known.

Sorry about the rant, I'm just annoyed that you voted cold so easily and for no reason at all.

So you claim no experience of this company yet you vote cold. I have experience of their very good clearance prices via their stores and websites which bodes well for their warehouse clearance and risk a Hot. I vote you cold though with no risk.

It's not a deal at all - just a heads up so it doesn't deserve heat in my opinion!

    Keen cyclist but cold.

No info to me means not a lot worthwhile
Anyone travelling a distance will feel a fool unless they spend money.

I've never heard any talk from 5 yars ago!!!!!!!!!!!

Who has voted hot. There is no deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hardly worth voting cold just because you don't know if you'll find anything you want.

When people post deals that are in-store only at a specific location, you don't vote that cold just because you happen to live miles away, do you?

If you don't fancy the journey or the risk then don't go, and don't vote cold.

but surely by the same token, you'd hardly vote anything hot, if there are no actual prices? This shouldn't be here, more on a local forum, because not everyone lives in London.

You do know that Crawley is in West Sussex, don't you?

No(in my case), as not everyone lives there either.

Agree with the poster above - this is a very specific local deal(could whinge about lots of the good deals being coincidentally near our capital city, but wont...) and to my mind is cold. Worth posting, but certainly not broad enough or hot enough to be on the front page.

I'm interested by this post as I am currently looking for a new mountain bike. Anyone able to offer any recommendations? I don't really want to spend any more than a couple of hundred quid.

    Thanks

Often items are voted cold on HUKD for no apparent reason. But this thread seems to have gone the other way. Lots and lots of people voting it hot without any information (ie prices) to back this up. Im confused
  16. deleted63203's avatar
I don't know anything about it yet... so I will delay voting until I've actually seen the sale, you don't have to vote as soon as the deal gets posted do you? You could wait for more info!

It's good for me though, living five minutes away.

i wouldnt say evans is cheap anyway. CRC is prolly the best place or if your buying a lot sunset are very very good at price beating and are happy to knock money off for ordering via debit i find.

This should really be in Misc as this is just a heads up of a pending sale not a deal..:)

I disagree. It’s bringing a future sale to our attention and sales are places where you can get good deals.

Went along to the sale today...had to que for 2 hours to get in!! (arrived at 9:00am and in the marquee by 11:00am).

Bought my wife a Pinnacle Stratus 1.0 Equipped for £175 (original price of £275). Some great bargains on Trek & Mongoose bikes. If you are in the area I would recommend you give it a visit as they will be replenishing stock daily.

some good savings on bikes - some ok deals on helmets, clothing, bike lights, etc. A big container of Inner tubes (racing and mountain bikes) for £1.99. Also, on one of the walls were tyres with inner tubes for £6.99 (that's cheap)
massive queue yesterday and opening time today, but that only lasted for the first hour. apparently, they've got truckloads to keep replenishing the stock

I went along yesterday and the discounts were excellent on bikes. Cannondale Big Boys down from £1200 to £750, Kona PH.d down from £1000 to £650. The best bargains are on the really expensive road bikes - biggest one was a £3600 bike down to £1500 (I think) - great if you are a road racer.

As has said before, not a great deal if you live in the North, as they won't take any phone enquiries or orders, but the crowds were from across the south east = and there were some excellent deals - basic helmets for £2.50, some SPD shoes for £20-30

Would have bought the cannondale, but it wasn't fast enough (it was hub geared and I was spinning in top gear on the flat). Great for keen cyclists, or those who want to get a decent bike that will last 10 years, not the Halfords tat that you have to throw away after 6 months of commuting riding (not all Halfords bikes are rubbish, but I'm talking about the £75 mountain bikes - there is a reason that they are £75!)
