Oh the memories....I had the original one as well :-D

Play used to have the deluxe version with the 'Whir..Whir...click' handle, but its no longer in stock.
this is a bit of a rip off i too had the orginal one with the handle and it was crap but great fun and big !! now if you check out the video of it in action the rip cord one looks like a small hotwheels bike..i was gonna order one but after seeing the video its too small and i gaurantee itll get lost by boxing day.

I agree with other posts above. Got one of these for my son, they are nothing like the original ones from the 1970s.
My younger brother had one of these... broke by Boxing Day, as were most of his toys, LOL.

Those were the days of Tin Can Alley, TCR (Total Control Racing, similar to Scaletrix), whilst I had a Ricochet Racers and a Merlin!!

Original Evel Knievel was great though... but I remember it as much bigger when I was a kid... along with proper BIG Macs!!
Boots sold these 2 years ago, but it was the wind up red thing - they were apparently made with the same materials as 70's one. I got one for my Son as I remember my brothers having them when we were kids and they were great. My sons one was just the same, but he couldn't get a look in with the adults taking control - they were either £30 or £40 on a 3 for 2. Saying that its been in the cupboard for the last year unused!
Good price, these are £8 on the 3 for 2 in boots at the mo i almost bought one as a stocking filler the other day!
Mine was great back in the 70's...
I remember it working really well, and changing his position for different stunts etc...

and Boy was he Brave he regularly attempted a 20 step stair jump, and practice made perfect as he completed it including multi somersaults and or 'head-bounces' :whistling:

This looks like a poor imitation though:thinking:
