I'm waiting for Dell to drop the price of the XPS One!!! lol...so let me know if they have deal on that please!!!

I missed out last month when I could have got it for £750 down from £1100 :-(
#2
Link not working.
#4
Ok I can se the deal - its two/three up from the bottom on the t-mobile tab - if getting redemptions via this company is straightforward then its a good deal - anyone have experience of cash back with them ?
[admin]#5
Fixed direct link

This is the XPS page

http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/desktop-xps-430?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

All are on offer, but the seond one in is the one the poster is talking about

>Remember to add the 21" HD monitor and to add the alternative mouse which reduces rather than adds to total.

Did not work for me.
#7
Thanks mod, how do you get the direct links to work for dell then ? Think this might be my first hot deal :-)
[admin]#8
It looked like you'd actually linked to the item in your basket, you can just search the model number and put that URL in the direct link field :)
#9
Which alternative mouse there are 2? even trying both and the 21" full hd monitor didnt reduce the price for me.
#10
Sorry, try the wireless keyboard and mouse a1.
#11
MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmm! Maybe I'II try and order this one!

Dell didn't seem to want to know when I ordered the last XPS 430 deal, and this deal does save me even more money, so I can order a larger monitor.
#12
Yeah, only £30 to add a 23" monitor!
#13
XPS 430 is deal of the day tomorrow.

Exactly, wait until tomorrow - it's on special and should be even cheaper.

I ordered the Dell XPS deal the other day at £638...just opened to inspect the items so far and not used so going to return for what I believe is a £20 shipping fee. Anybody know any Dell complications for returns before I phone them ??
#17
Mine was ordered sunday night and arrives thursday. Approx £550 with quicdo, for the standard setup but the cheaper keyboard/mouse combo and upgrade to 23" monitor. Maybe you should just call Dell Jillamyalice see if they can help.

I hope they don't knock another £50 off, that would be a little annoying, but I don't see how they can do much better than the £170 off + free del + 10% + quidco...we'll see tomorrow!

Glad this got some heat in the end...

The deal looks to be up now - its £30 further off the D03X302 - so £569

http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/emea/segments/dhs/days_of_deals?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&dgc=IR&cid=DOD&lid=SHP_TB1

Similar to above - has ATI 4850 512mb graphics but no monitor.

It's 11.30pm now and item is still priced at £599 - and i believe the 10% off code ends at midnight - so you might just want to buy that D03X303 now after all.

One more thing to mention, the XPS 430 has an X48 motherboard chipset which supports dual channel ram - but if you buy the default 3GB of ram, it is supplied as 3x 1024mb DDR2 dimms and you will not be able to run that configuration in dual channel.
I was trying to get Dell to supply unit with 2x1024mb and 2x512mb DDR3 dimms but they couldn't do it.
Little point in paying the £40 they are asking for and extra 1gb ram as the 32bit Vista OS will only see a maximum of 3.5gb total (likely less).

So what do you recommend 64 bit
#20
I wouldn't recommend 64bit vista as quite a lot of programs and games are not compatible with it.
(Unless of course you have some 64bit apps you would be able to get the benefit of).

You might want to change the ram configuration yourself after you get the machine to either 4x 1024mb or 2x 1024mb and 2x 512mb,
else consider the upgrade with Dell to 4gb.

Still a great deal though - I'm going to see if I can get the D03X302 with the extra 10% - but even if I do it's a close call to which is the better deal
(D03X302 for £569 -10% or D03X303 for £629 -10%).

I think the 10% code is good till end of 18th March - so I've got today to make my mind up.

The 10% code (+ free delivery) is still working as of 5 mins ago when I ran my choice through their system.
Including the 23" monitor it came to £588 on the D03X303 system. (- quidco)
£18 more for an extra 2 inches. Now what would I give for that in a personal way?

PS. I didn't buy, just checking that it was still working.
#22
Pity this didn't come with a token to get a free upgrade to Windows 7 at the end of the year. They must be planning for that offer soon.
#23
Sizzling deal.

I notice you can add Vista Premium 64-bit for no extra cost. Will it work with this system...and would it have any benefits?

Upgrading to the 23" monitor looks a decent option at £30 over the bog standard 20"

....the total would then be £593.11 which seems a bargain to me!

this is the total with the 20" hd screen as my cabinet will only take a 20" monitor a really good price for a powerfull machine thats versatile and compaird to be fore xmas these were £300 + more expensive this price still dont include quidco.
#25
you could possibly ad a 2048 1066 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM to this if you needed more ram and i dont think there would be confliction between them.

This is worrying me ie the PSU issue...I got my Dell on Monday and have it returned this morning as I can save £55 on Mondays price. The PSU was 375 which I believe is true power but I am concerned if I upgrade teh graphics card, an extra optical and HD drive then I will be underpowered. Spoke to Dell friend in the indian sub continent and he tells me taht only XPS models with 1GB graphics cards get the upgraded 425w PSU's ?
#28
would you guys say its not worth upgrading the ram to 6gb?

If it’s rated for 375W that means DC output and the graph bellows shows AC input so if you assume an efficiency of 85% the Dell would consume about 440W at full load so use that figure to compare with the systems below. It should be good for an HD 4870 or GTX 280 which max out at 313W and that’s with a beefy system; specs below.
An extra HDD and optical drive will add no more than 40W and that’s with both at full load.

That is so helpful  I have now reached tipping point again and placing the order!

Just to let you all know i purchased my dell XPS studio 430MT in january with a 23inch SP2309W monitor (well worth it) and 3year warranty, they messed me about so much I milked them dry in the end, they broke 2 major rules of trading, they delayed my order by 2months after accepting my payment, kept changing the order contents without permission, kept cancelling my order and regenerating new ones, kept asking for my credit card details and not confirming the new orders. Awful experience. The first XPS i recieved blew up so had to return it causing more delay. In the end i was expected to pay £700 for £1,250 worth of stuff thrown in as goodwill gestures haha. However because of all the rule breaking I threatened them and they gave in and sent me invoices for £0!!!! :-D I do feel a little guilty though that customers can do that to companies but the fundamental principal is WE HAVE POWER! use that power and you get what you want.

Don't just buy the packages as they are on the internet and don't wait either. Haggle! see what extra stuff you can get by phoning them. They can usually throw free stuff at you and upgrade parts like your graphics card for free and your monitor. At the moment they are trying to get rid of logitech webcams/headsets and mcafee 2 year subscriptions so ask if you can have those for free. Also my best advice is to keep in touch with customer service because when I had all my problems they helped me lots. They will also give you a better idea on when you will recieve everything. If you order and just wait, delays happen. Its the additional peripherals and monitors that you order that cause the delays.
You should order as a small business customer and make up a unregistered business, they will never know. Small business customers have more priveliges and more trading power like i said.

Anyway this pc is amazing, dead quiet if you don't use Vista ( Vista takes up 50% of your ram when your not doing anything except looking at the screen). It does get hot alot so your room must be quite big or you have to open the window all the time. The 64bit operating system is good for maybe 10days and then you wonder why you've still got it because you can't do everything on it unfortunately. Installing drivers and games is a major problem mostly. Other than that, welcome to HD quality :)

Does this xps come standard with HDMI output and optical connetions our do I need an upgraded video card?
Wanting to run H.264 1080p movies from it to my 46" Samsung TV
#33
After much deliberation I bit the bullet and bought the D03X303 c/w S2309W, ATI 4850 and Vista 64.
(Going to do a ram upgrade myself after I've had a play with Vista64).

£734 down to £660.60 with discount code - and maybe down as low as £634 with quidco.

Great deal - heat and rep to OP.

All done and I got the same deal with the 23" monitor and upgraded sound for £17 less than I paid without them delivered on Monday....excellent. Only concern was the GPU as I opted for the 4670 instead of the 4850. assuming I cant change the card I will ebay it off and get a 4850 in a few weeks if there are problems. Great deal all round.

I think I will get a 2x2gb Ram kit from crucial and run the Vista64 with 6gb dual channel.
So I will have a spare 1gb DDR3 dimm for sale.

If anybody wants a cheap upgrade to 4gb (and dual channel) - send me a PM.
