Good deal if you can pick it up yourself. I didn't fancy doing several trips in my car so I ordered the 170mm Rock Wool via http://www.npower.com/web/diyloftinsulation/index.htm (you don't need to be a NPower customer to buy it)

Buildercentre dropped it off with free Insulation kit consisting of rubber gloves, face mask, goggles and instructions all for £3 a roll. Only took 3 days to delivery too, just enough time to clear the loft out.

Heat added

Yes, we did this one and yes you must use the kit.

When I bought my house it was rated "B" in energy efficiency on my HIP. Do I need to add more insulation?

The rating is not just loft but windows cavity etc - for the money it's a no brained to add more

Can't get it delivered, right?

The store should offer a delivery service but it isnt cheap about £25 for 5 mile radius from store then it goes up each 5 mile

Read the EPC that rated it at "B", the last page tells you if you need more in the reccomended actions section, if its not there then no you dont.

when you open the pack the is one large roll semi cut in to aprrox 18" each.
So you split them easily.

Thank you.

I remember that they recommended solar panels and other things like that. I guess my loft is OK.

I went up there during the summer and even though it was not very warm outside it was like an hot box.

Where do you think the heat is coming from if it's NOT warm outside...........buy some insulation. The HIP pack isn't worth the paper it's wrote on.

Just measure the current insulation thinkness. Should be 270mm. If it's just between the rafters (or is it joists) then it probably needs a top up.

Went to local B&Q on the weekend and got 3 pallets of the stuff, they almost refused to sell us it because you are limited to 100 m square. Got it all in now and works a treat!
