Some of the biggest names in UK and American music have joined forces to record an emotive cover of the REM classic 'Everybody Hurts', to raise money for charities supporting the relief efforts in Haiti. The final line up of featured artists is Mariah Carey, Jon Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Miley Cyrus, Take That, Joe McElderry, Cheryl Cole, JLS, Mika, Michael Bubl?James Blunt, James Morrison, Susan Boyle, and Westlife.

The single will split all proceeds 50/50 between DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) and The Sun newspaper's 'Helping Haiti' appeal. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has pledged to waive VAT on the single. The Haitian earthquake, which occurred on 12th January 2010 measuring a catastrophic 7.0 on the richter scale, is already estimated to have caused the deaths of over 250,000 people. 250,000 are in need of urgent aid and more than 2 million people are estimated homeless and in need of long term support to help rebuild their lives

how much of the £3.99 goes to the relief why not just give straight to the Haiti earthquake appeal

Thank God for over-privileged, low intellect singers with more money in their bank accounts combined to dwarf the proceeds 100's of times over. Where would we be without them.

I liked the original but what are the odds that it gets re-released as well?

Why do these people always feel the need to re-make a song (and ruin it) when there is a disaster. We all know they are doing it to 'boost their own massive ego's'.:x

Just give some money and don't buy this karaoke C**P!

Oh yeah...and it's hardly a Hot UK Deal at that price!

Couldn't agree more, give the money straight to the DEC appeal. Not only does the music go directly to the appeal but the charities also get gift aid.

I bet if a few of us got together to make a single the 'stars' wouldn't buy it - I hate this holier than thou attitude - like has been said - if they wrote a cheque out for a million quid each then they would get more support from the public in doing so and we all might dig deeper into our bank accounts as a result. But to sing a a few lines of a song over the phone and have it recorded and mixed with a host of other 'has beens' isn't really 'doing one's bit' is it?

Disasters should be supported by governments with tax payers money and not by collection (same for health service, BTW). That's what we elect them for.

For a deal, it's not!

agree with everyone here.

don't waste money on this second rate x-factor ego-trip, give the money direct at any uk bank or post office counter and quote Freepay 1449...

How true is that.

If all the people involved just gve 1% of their bank balances to the charity involved it would amount to far more than the proceeds of this single.
