This is the firestarter version of the card BTW! I think they have been modified to have thermal pads on them, however.

Yeah however, I believe EVGA made a statement to say they'll now all ship with the thermal padding and in the case that it doesn't, you can send it in free and they'll put it in for you.

Bought the SC version on a deal on Fri for £336 from Amazon, this is a decent price also for the slightly higher clock speed. (it also includes a backplate)

Quite a few deals on EVGA 10 series, which maybe due to the heat issues. As highlighted, there is a new bios and free thermal pads via EVGA, which come on the newer products anyway. Voted hot from me - EVGA a have good warranty scheme and customer care too.

I'd say the better customer support / warranty, should you need it, makes the EVGA worth the extra £20. For the cards themselves, I believe the strix has higher stock clocks, but the FTW runs cooler/can OC a bit more?

Good luck with warranty issues with Asus. Evga blows them out of the water.

Will this do 4k gaming?

You would probably have to lower graphical settings, and of course it would depend on which game.

I unexpectedly have had to buy this as my R9 390 started showing sprites all over the screen and kept on restarting my PC. Great OC speeds and with HDMI 2 port I should start being able to play 4K above 30mhz. Pretty annoyed that I have gone through two AMD cards in two years especially when I am not a massive gamer anymore and my PC is well ventilated and the card never got over 75c

This will do well with 4K you should get 50+ FPS in most demanding games but as another member said you may have to turn down the settings a little but believe me this is still better than 1080p max I know as I have been sacrificing 60 frames 1080p for 4K 30mhz (v sync) gaming with an R9 390 and this will beast that card!

You paid for a different model which has higher clocks and better cooling solution. This is just a cut-down version. I have the OC version myself.
