Morrisons have packs of 6 x 1.5 litre Evian water on offer for £2.00

I know people have got tapfuls of water, but for those who buy Evian, it's cheap.

Not to mention one of the most dishonest, planet-destroying industries going.

Tap water is better quality. Try chilling tap water then comparing tap to bottled.

Factor of 2000 price difference too...

Naive

Every time... I swear it gets cleverer each time someone regurgitates it!

Tap water tastes crap
and I prefer the taste of Evian. What's naive about that? Am I under any illusion that it's "healthier" than tap? Hell no.

And I live in Scotland where the tap water is better than almost all of England. Most of you people pay way more for fizzy drink that rots your teeth. I don't touch Coke, 7up etc. for that reason.

Bretta filters also suck. Water tastes only slightly better afterwards.

What's naive is that you haven't done a blind test.

Presumptuous much? How the hell do you know? I guess the problem is you can't taste the difference so it automatically means everyone is like you? I take it there's also no difference between Coca Cola and supermarket brands?

I can taste the difference between most different bottled waters, never mind vs tap. In fact, give me tap water over Vittel any day! That stuff is foul! Evian has a bit of a "chalky", dull taste that a lot of people won't like. Some people prefer the taste of tap to Evian. Each to their own. The fact is though that there's a distinctly different taste, if you don't lack the ability (perhaps smoking? too much alcohol? too many spicy foods?).

The fact is I have done a blind test without having a clue I was about to. See, my girlfriend's Dad fills up an empty Evian bottle with tap water to keep water in the fridge. I poured myself a glass thinking it was Evian and nearly spat it out when I took a drink. My girlfriend also prefers the taste of Evian since she gets it all the time when she's at mine and struggles to go back to tap.

Happy to use tap water to wash my mouth out when I'm brushing my teeth but it doesn't taste nice enough to drink. That's why people use diluting juice... :whistling:

You live in Scotland and you think tap water tastes worse than Evian? You must have some weird taste buds. Ultimately I would have thought you could have put up with tap water's taste knowing that it's far cheaper, just as healthy and you arent polluting with plastic. But no, apparently not. Congratulations.

Interesting video. The problem though...

2000 times more expensive than tap. Yep, that's true. But this is relative. Bottled water is cheaper than fizzy drink which also serves the exact same purpose of quenching your thirst. Why doesn't the video point this out?

Same goes for the pollution. This is no worse than drinking fizzy juice. If you want to accuse both (and you drink neither) then fair enough. But they fit into the same category.

Apparently you don't drink any kind of bottled liquid? If you do, you're hypocrite. If you don't, then fair play to you, honestly. But most people do drink bottled juice so don't try and single out water drinkers. ;-)

Also, taste is a personal thing. If you haven't learned that yet then you're a fool. I don't expect everyone to prefer the taste/look of anything vs anything else. But you prove my point that there is a difference. Whether you prefer it or not is a personal thing. The first time I tried Evian I didn't like the slightly chalky taste as much as Volvic. But I got tired of Volvic after a while (and Highland Sping) but it has never happened with Evian. Also, Evian also tastes pretty palatable (to me) warm so I can keep a bottle in the car. Tap water tastes completely different warm.

You have a tap in your house that provides beer at 1/1000 of the cost?
#18
Perfectly put Alasrati.

Can you get fizzy drinks at 1/2000th of the cost? No. If you want fizzy drinks, you have one option. If you want water, you have two - bottle or tap.

You're either ill-informed or an irresponsible mug if you choose the former.

It doesnt need to point that out specifically as it's common knowledge that fizzy drinks are worse than water. They do mention people drink bottled water to be healthy.

Also, fizzy drinks with sugar also provide energy so they arent quite the same.

I think you're forgetting the placebo effect. If you havent heard of that yet then you're ignorant. If you had even bothered to watch the video properly you would have seen the bit where she says people cant tell the difference under blind conditions. It's going to vary depending on the area the tap water is from but good tap water like you find in most of Scotland tastes very good. Most people are conned by the packaging of bottled water.

Oh and sometimes I do buy drinks in plastic bottles but I try not to. And if I have to buy bottled water - if I'm out somewhere for example, I buy the cheapest, not Evian (unless it's the cheapest, which is unusual). It's ridiculous imo to buy water from France when we have loads of the stuff in this country!

The biggest difference in taste between tap and bottled water comes from the fact that the bottled water is chilled and not under pressure. If you put a jug of water in the fridge it tastes just as good as bottled (in my opinion) because the water is then chilled and the cholorine has chance to dissipate. Having said that, the water in Manchester is probably the best I've tasted 'direct from the tap' of any of the places I've lived.

For those who spend on Evian water: try spelling Evian backwards.
