God, that thing makes a Nissan Juke look pretty!!

Hard to judge the heat though, as an ex rental it could be carpeted to death.

Even better: who is going to steal a blue or nasty green Townie (carpeted) :)
I think a serious buyer would ring and ask about a particular bike.
They are all alloy construction and I imagine that they wouldn`t sell anything that was unsafe or hadn`t been properly maintained.

I suppose this might be appealing to some commuters: it makes no pretense of being a serious cyclist's bike so it might be seen as an alternative to a moped or bike to get to the station. I don't suppose it would be all that attractive to thieves

I'd wonder about the longevity of the battery and other electrical components though, if they fail it would probably cost more than the bike is worth, so the owner might just get stuck with a really heavy pushbike for the morning commute.

It's a conventional, not electric, bicycle.

Silly me - I misread the ad!

I can guess it's meaning, but where on earth does "carpeted" come from? oO

What's hybrid about it? The design or something else? It does look like unisex mind.

As the add reads "grab life by the handle bars"

For what it's worth I actually think it looks rather cool and having a Dutch style step through bike myself I happen to know that it will be very comfortable because of the rider's upright stance.

when I lived in Holland, the assortment came with a free women's town bike. every night after work I'd go for an hour round the town, in perfect comfort. I might have looked ridiculous but it was so nice to ride.

FFS! What's the point of an exit button, if you can't edit a typo??? assortment = apartment

Nothing can make a Nissan Juke look pretty, it looks like one of Salvador Dali's paintings!

My interpretation is `treated like a carpet` equals very well trodden on! :)
Look it up in an online dictionary for the real origin

Hybrid to me means a cross between several things: in this case, I think it is a cross between a traditional sit-up-and-beg bicycle and a modern city bike

Talking about bikes, do you recommend any solid lock, so that my bike is not stolen? My U lock from Wilko Has been cut recently :(:(:(

I think it is called a hybrid because it is of the traditional city bike styling but it incorporates gears which the vintage city bikes never had. The original city bikes were ungeared because they were for riding around flat city roads typical of Amsterdam where they are most used.
The bike illustrated is variously known as a city bike, a step through bike, a Dutch style bike and a sit up and beg bike (I own one and my Husband calls it a district nurses bike but that's another matter!). I agree that hybrid means a cross between two or more things but it isn't a cross between a sit up and beg and a city bike - they are one and the same.
A city bike is also known as an ECB which stands for European City Bike and is of the same style as illustrated but minus the gears.

Sorry to hear that. If you bought it from Halfords, they should have a record of the frame number which should be given to the police. If thieves have the time to cut through a U lock, nothing will stop them. I don`t think there are any particularly good locks, I use U locks myself.
Not sure whether it`s best to leave it in a very public place, where people or cameras will notice if it is messed with or try to hide it away where thieves may not find it.
My two cents :)

I'll tell you what makes a Nissan Juke look pretty-a picture of my wife sitting in her Nissan Juke.*

Why can`t you edit your posts?
It's fine editing in Windows and now that the Android App had been updated there's now the button to edit typos out....except that each time I finish editing, it won't post the update. Slightly annoying to say the least! :)

Just a thought: you`re not posting from outside the uk, by any chance?
I am and my posts get moderated, they don`t appear immediately, it`s very annoying
