So I posted a deal last year about sly Sky offering 75% off to returning customers. I duly cancelled in December 2013 and have been disconnected since Jan 2014. Now, I have been getting bored of the same old "You've Been Framed" re-runs on ITV2 every night so I thought I would call in to see if the deal was back in order to diversify my entertainment experience. Here's how I did it.

1. The beginning. Use saynoto0870.com to find the Sky number.

2. Here it is: 020 7126 7020

3. The Number. Call the number and ask to be directed through to cancellations and retention's. They might be all like "Whaaaat?!" so just say that you have received an offer through the post and you cant call 08442 numbers (Blocked from mobile and landline) and that you found this number to contact them on. At this point the nice lady took my details and informed me she would organise a call back for me as I was calling from a mobile.

4. The Wait. Wait and marvel at your awesome telephone skills.

5. The callback. Took around 5 mins to get back in touch with me and the nice lady took my details again. At first she was confused but I informed her I had cancelled my Sky due to overpriced prices and wanted the same deal I was on before. She took a few minutes and said that the deal was indeed available on my account. That deal was for Entertainment+, Movies, Sports and HD (basically all channels) BUT, there was an issue on price...

6. The issue on price. Was basically that Sky now have 2 ways of billing your HD package. One for Entertainment and another for Movies and Sports. Now because this deal includes both, we actually saved money here, taking the deal from around £24 a month which I was paying last year, to £20.75.

7. The fist pump. At this stage I went for a random fist pump of joy! Feel free to skip this step.

8. The cheeky Cashback. I asked for it, just like last time. £50 was supposed to be on offer. I was declined. She did say that it was available on the 50% off deal but that's not good so I told her I would continue with the deal.

9. The wrap up. I confirmed all the details, didn't inquire about a 2tb box for £50 as I already had one, who knows, it may be available too! I also added SkyGo Extra for a fiver taking it to around £25 a month. So all in, I had 12 months with Sky with HD and all channels for the grand some of £300 over the year. Not bad me thinks.

I know not everyone likes Sky, I'm not a fan of the prices, but the customer service when it comes to this, is awesome!

So if you are an ex customer, want in on a cheap deal, use the steps above. It will cost you nothing but a few inclusive minutes and about 10 minutes.
Hope this helps some lonely poor soul out there....or even you.

Or just get hold of a dreambox, and pay what you should be paying for Sky, especially considering the outrageous amounts of adverts they throw at you.

I phoned dominos last night and told them the pizza I had the week before didn't taste right so they sent me an extra one.

Should I post that?

Think I'll stick to you've been framed and Netflix. Wouldn't give Murdoch a penny

surely the whole point of having a PVR is that you don't watch adverts ?

the only time i ever see any adverts "properly" is if i'm at my mum's house. at home, i rarely, if ever, watch live television so adverts really aren't an issue.

anyway, heat from me .. which, incidentally, caused this to go from -1 to -5 .. go figure ..

Sometimes it takes a while to register your heat as other people have voted cold at the same time :(

Just go for it! I didnt have a leaflet and it worked, I think this is a general deal that ex customers get to come back. imo companies would rather have a paying customer, albeit at a reduced price, than have no customer at all!

I've just put mine on notice for 8th March can I ring them or do I have to wait until they disconnect me?

I think you need to wait a while. Call in the week that you are due to be cut off, think that should be long enough!

OR... Buy a special BOX ;)

Obviously you can't get TCB or Quidco over the phone so here's the workaround.

Go back to them on the Original bundle (the most basic package there is). Then as soon as you've hung up go online and upgrade to Sports and Movies, as an existing customer, via TCB where you can claim £80 cashback, and a £49 2Tb box, in the process. (or £40 TCB for Sports or Movies).

You no longer lose your disocunt when changing package these days.

Elaborate on Dreambox. What is it? Is it legal?

If you go back on the lowest package (Original bundle) you can upgrade online through TCB and bag £80 cashback for adding Sports and Movies (or £40 for one). And get a 2Tb box for £49 at the same time.

You still keep your discount when changing package these days.

sky are the easiest company to haggle along with virgin , i get 2 recordable boxes the full package and sky go extra for £39 a month , you just need to haggle with them , i get phone line and 50 meg internet with virging for £14 a month because i said i was leaving .
wouldnt touch a dreambox , one of my mates has one and its for ever going off and my dads one allway freezes even with fast internet . and the £3000 fine if you get caught using one through skys signal .

I think the whole News International has a less rigid approach to dealing. A few years ago a friend of mine was behind with his Sky payments, and when they rang him he said he would pay but he was a bit short of funds so he said he had better cancel. They replied that if he continued to take Sky, they would write off the debt, which both parties agreed. I recently joined sun plus and when I rang up to cancel, they offered me another £10 Tesco card to carry on.The same happened again this month till I informed them I had already received 2 Tesco cards(1st was very late). I agree with West Ham supporter about News International though. They do a lot of very good things but also a lot I am not happy with. What makes me annoyed is where the man/woman in street thinks they(Sun journalists) are one of their kind because of "Phew. What a scorcher!" type of headlines etc. You need a degree and experience to get a job as a Cub Reporter on the local rag, never mind a job as a reporter/editor on the biggest UK selling paper. Wise up suckers.

Left sky a few months ago, they constantly kept ringing, was offered all the above for £12.50...

don't miss sky at all so declined the offer !

if you ring and haggle the price could be lowered further still I would think...

Will it work if u ring to cancel my package now as I'm currently on a monthly rolling contract??

Why would you want to use this elaborate method of getting Freesat?
(Rather than Freesat itself)

Apart from Freeview, I only used to have Netflix, and ESPN for my son as it is his favourite sport channel. We got ESPN through a CAM with TopUp tv, but they then stopped doing ESPN. They sent a Sky offer at £25 monthly (only that price for 12 months I think) but to get ESPN we would have to additionally subscribe to BT sport, who have now taken over ESPN. We can't subscribe directly to BT tv because we are not in a fibre optic cable area (ridiculous as we are 10 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh!) and I don't really want to spend £25 every month for Sky services I probably wouldn't use much, then have to pay extra for BT/ESPN.

OP, does your deal include BT sport, and do you think it could be available to a new customer to Sky?

Heat for the humour, cold for the old logo :P
