The brilliant Gears of war has only been on the shelves for a mere day or 2 but is now available for £37.95 from HMV but if you use the £5.00 discount voucher AN3714, order through quidco for an 11% return (about £3.62) and you have a hmv games reward card which is worth 5% (about £1.65), the total cost of the game will be only £27.68 including free shipping!

I hope every xbox 360 fan finds this helpful, as this is my first deal listing and i would really appreciate it if you please rate this deal, so i know what kind of deals to try and list in the future for everyone :)

Kind regards

realfriendlyman

Thanks for the deal post realfriendlyman. I've added a pic to your post - to see how to do this, click the link in my sig.

When we show a price, we usually show the price less any vouchers, and mention the quidco amount. We don't usually include the quidco amount in the price shown, as not everyone actually uses quidco (though they should!)

So I've updated your post to reflect this... :-D

Thanks for that Emmajk42, i tried to add the pic just after i posted the deal, just incase i made a mistake on my first attempt.

Also thanks for all the advice, i'll bare that in mind for my future listings, i just attempted to try and include as much info as possible and then readers can then decide on what they can and don't want to use to save some money but i do completely understand and will follow your advice for the future :)

P.S thanks alot for all your input, i've been reading some of the responses on the forums and it seems you always make valued suggestions :)

You can choose to get your quidco money sent to a bank account or a paypal account.

Check on the HMV site and your bank account and see when the order has been completed and sent and payment has been taken from your card. Only once the money has changed hands will the tracking start to kick in. Having said that of course, I'm currently waiting for an order which was completed and posted on Friday to track but it is the weekend and it can take a few days.
#11
ahh i did the free delevery which will take 3 to 5 days so what your saying is onec hmv take my cash from my bank then the tracking will start on quidco
??????

also i have cookies enabled on my ie7 and have my firewall cookies turned of when i did this em dont know if there is any ofther options i also enables java to

also do i need to keep the cookie until all the transactions are done ?????? or can i clean the cookies draw after in ordered it
#12
Nothing will start tracking until money has changed hands otherwise people would be getting money for nothing (there are one or two money for click things on quidco but that's beside the point).

They advise to use an entirely seperate browser solely for quidco transactions. There are many different browsers, IE, Firefox, Opera, Netscape etc so if you just use one only for quidco transactions you won't have to worry about other cookies or when to allow them. Just set it to accept them all.

I know I edited that earlier (see my first reply above), but my edits seemed to have disappeared from the post ... :?

HMV are pretty pants with their delivery! they must post 3rd class or something!!
unlike play.com...
#20
Seriously glad I cancelled my HMV preorder. Thankfully those angels at PCWorld had mine delivered on launch day, despite ordering off them so close to the release date.

I did try to tell them about HMV ... ;)
#22
The slow delivery will give me time to finish Call of Duty 3
#23
In fairness to HMV, I pre-ordered GoW from them and it arrived on the launch day, via special delivery, at no extra cost.

Not that I'm a massive fan of HMV or anything, but credit where it's due.

However, non-preordered games are probably sent in the normal first class way from Guernsey, so you are trusting the timely delivery of your order to the vagaries of our beloved Royal Mail....
#24
Hi everyone,

I posted the offer from HMV and i've ordered from them on several occasions without any delays.
You also have to bare in mind that they're not based in UK mainland, so it can take an additional day to get your item to cross the seas through royalmail or third party company for sea transport, which is the same as PLAY.COM, who have been quite prompt on most occasions but i have witnessed slow delivery times as well.

Overall, i don't mind waiting an extra couple days to get such a great game at this price but on a side note, has anyone managed to complete the game on hardcore or insane yet? :)

Always got my orders on release day from HMV.
#26
Just got mine !!! Thanks very very much to the OP.

Just wanted to say i got the special edition one though even thought i ordered the basic one !!! :giggle:

think HMV has messed up as even the sticker said £32.95 oh well hope you guys get the same.

delivery was rubbish though ordered spinter cell from play 2 days ago and that also came today !
#27
Welcome to the forums snow-munki. A lurker no more :)
#28
cancelled my order today - it was showing as in stock when i ordered, as 'not yet processed' for two days after that and as 'on special order' since yesterday. :x Wanted it for the weekend but no joy. I've emailed HMV to ask when it'll be back in stock and had no reply. Result - unhappy customer so ordered from powerplay direct for £33.99 + 4% quidco - a few quid more but always had good experience with them.
#29
Just got mine today and i have to say what a load of crap HMV are this is the first and last time i will use them.

I ordered the game and said 3 to 5 days delevery but what HMV do not state is that it takes 5 days for them to get it and then another 5 days for you to get it in the post so that can take a total of 10 working days but thay do not say that before you buy as it was in stock.

My GOW xbox game was totaly damaged the disk was damaged the whole box was cracked and split and the thing is its not even packed well at all. it was only in a soft cardboard box with no bubble wrap or nothing it was rattling all over inside the box.

and heres the thing the outside cardboard box was in perfect condition so i think thay have done this on perpose as theres no damage at all on the outside box so how can that be i am going to have to ring them up now this is a joke

i am going to get incontact with the hmv in the uk and see if i can take this to the shop and get it replaced if not i will be sending it back for a refund as i dont want another from them i am not wating another 2 to 3 weeks i can get it 2nd hand by then
