I have been digging around for a few months for a 32" LCD TV and finally settled on this one. It has 2 HDMI ports and every connector you'd possibly need. It has a load of features and a super fast response time.

It's £450 + delivery everywhere else but on TribalUK its £399 inc delivery plus you can earn 2% Quidco on it too.

Hope you think its a good deal as its my first post

I would have said the same, imho £399 isn't that good a price for a 32" LCD these days.

32LC56 Here for £393.80

Brand is the only difference. Same 12 Month guarantee + the specification on the hanspree is BETTER........I suppose it's personal choice eh?

It is :)

Same reason applies to people paying £400+ for 32" Samsung HD TVs.

£407.95 at http://www.soundandvisiononline.com and they have a retail outlet in Bolton so you can John Lewis price-match, and get 5-year warranty for ~£9!.

I was planning on replacing our CRT in the near future and I was going to buy a Panasonic TX32LMD70 (now under £500 pounds) - based on previous reviews. Is the general feeling that £400 is now a more realistic maximum for a 32" LCD now? I don't want to spend extra money just for the sake of it!
#16
I bought this when it was posted here a couple of months back - £415 delivered from Digital Direct.

Is this retail outlet within 8 miles of a John Lewis store?
as that is their new rule for price matching and i believe that it can't be price matched on the internet.

not the same however when i went into currys yesterday there were fliers for this

http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/editorial/Virgin_Media

if you sign up to virgin media deals you get an lcd lg 32 incher for £199.

maybe worth doing if your 12 month contract is now out or get the other half to do the deal and cancel yours.

Hi lads, I have this the Old Samsung LE26R51BD, is it worth upgrading to this? As I want a 32inch, but dont want to loose spec wise.

It's not the _specs_ that are important, it's the quality of the picture. Take spec on paper with a pinch of salt. That said, Samsung have built themselves a very good reputation for LCDs.

Nice to see people chattering about this TV. I looked at the Hanspree 32" on Ebuyer but there returns are difficult at best. Anyway I've ordered it and i'm looking forward to testing it. I came to the conclusion that most brand lcds offer relatively the same specs.....

Over to you guys.....i'll post when i run it through its paces
#23
while i know very little about LCD TV's i do know that often its the branded makes that have better upscaling on SD pictures, while the ebuyer one may have better specs it probably cant match the LG 'engine' at displaying the pictures. I have read on AV Forums that earlier LG models have suffered a bit in the upscaling department, however the newer ones appear to have improved a bit.

I have had the money saved for nearly a year now and still dont know which one to go for, but i can get a lot more for my 600 quid now than i could 12 months ago!

If anyone is thinking of buying an LCD i would advise a good few nights googling so you dont make an expensive mistake, of course everybody see's the perfect picture slightly differently, so to one person the LG may look sensational while another would beg to differ so goto to a shop that is happy to demostrate the TV on SD and HD picture feeds then search the internet to buy it cheaper.

Google maps says it's 8.4 miles from John Lewis Trafford Centre
*Edit* thats by motorway, direct straight line route is 5.4 miles!

When did they change the "rules"? I knew it had to be a retail store, can walk in and buy it right away, to qualify before.

not as clear as it states is it? maybe currys need to explain things clearer, the 24 months does not relate to anything in the offer, it is randomly placed in the terms.

As from midnight tonight the LG 32lc46 will be able to be bought from Dixons for £378 by using the code BIRTHDAY to give 10% discount. Thanks to valentins for the heads up on the code.
The 32LC46 model is exactly the same TV as the 32LC56, just an exclusive model number to Pixmania, Dixons & Currys (all part of the DSG Group). The minor difference is that the cabinet is completely black on 56 model.
Edit:£392 is the price after Dixons slyly increased the price and added delivery charge.Quidco cashback = 3.5% = £13.44,bringing this out to less than £380.

I've had the tv now for two days and my Xbox 360 has never looked so good. I have turned off the XD engine for my sky+ as it just made the picture pixelated. I have used a philips upscaling dvd player and they look great too, again with the xd engine off.

The only problem I have is that I have the xbox and dvd connected by HDMI to the tv and both carry a 5.1 audio signal. So far the tv's optical only seem to out put a stereo signal to my audio amp.....i'm trying to source an answer with LG at the mo.

Hi, found it cheaper here:

£398 and if you go via Quidco you can claim an extra 2.5%

See my last post 2 down from yours.

Ok just for information. The optical out put on this TV is stereo out only but from my tests it appears to be 2.1 (carries left and right as well as bass - subwoofer).

No rear issues as most decent surround systems can take more than one source. If you want a decent branded TV then this is excellent. Each input chanel can be individually adjusted to your tase. I find turning the XD engine off for non HD sources improves the viewing experience. Use a decent upscaling DVD player with HDMI out, I got a philips 5980 from pixmania for £50 and it out puts at 1080p.

Enjoy!!

Also available from Digital Direct for £383.01 plus £14.99 delivery. 2.5% Quidco.

There's a reason this TV is so cheap though after you read the reviews.
