people dont know what they are voting on sadly
this is the 'sweet spot' for pricing of surround sound amp and speakers, where the manufacturers already squash in huge value. so to see this kind of price reduction makes it a steal
also IMO a well matched amp and speaker kit. 150W per channel is plenty for the Dali which are fairly easily driven
Power Output (6 ohm, 1 kHz, 1% 1ch Drive) 150 W
From what I know, this means at 6ohm, playing a 1 KhZ source (or tone), with 1 channel driven, it can output 150w. Misleading I know, but that's how they're rated. Once you add 4 more speakers and play a proper source, like music, things look quite a lot different. The AV is actually rated at 500w input, so between 400w and 500w total for all channels.
If you keep the volume low it won't matter to you, but I personally don't think it's a great pairing. Maybe I'm wrong :)
I really dont know what you are trying to say here and think you got a little confused
the 500w input you quoted is the power consumption of the amp and nothing to do with the power it outputs. the output is dictated by the size of the transformer or transformers inside the amp
the amp here in question is rated at 125w per channel at 6ohms (or 150w at 4ohms)
speakers as i hope you would know have different impedance depending on the frequency they are being asked to deliver however the demanding low frequency notes which have low impedance and will require more power will be delivered by the sub and so we can typically say the other 5 speakers will be working within the 4 - 8 ohm window for the majority of the time and such will be delivered 95 - 150watts each
loudness though isnt dictated solely by the power of the amp but also by how sensitive the speaker units are
these speakers are rated with a sensitivity of 88dB (1w will give you 88dB at 1meter from speaker)
which is pretty efficient and will be fairly easily driven

I overlooked this part of the description.

Featuring high current discrete power output devices on all channels, the AVR-X2200W is rated at 95 watts per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz~20 kHz, .08% THD)

Unless you don't listen all that loud (I said low above but that's wrong), it shouldn't be a concern. It's something Exceptional AV put together, it might be worth querying it with them if you or anyone else is interested in this.

Not a lot of heat here, so here's some from me.

A lot of money for Joe Blogs, but still a good deal for people that are interested in these kinds of set ups.

What movies have you watched that are Atmos?

Well I've not seen any actual Atmos blurays but I have however tested the official demos (look for 'TrueHD 7.1 Atmos' under the Sound column). For normal blurays I read it estimates and sends audio data through to the ceiling channels. Which does make movies sound impressive even though its may not be Atmos (Not even sure which films have it tbh). Though like I mentioned before, using a bluray player compared to the Xbox makes an immediate difference.
I like it
Is it real leather?

I have the Onkyo TX-NR636 which I thought was expensive but compared to this it was a bargain. Must say though the Dolby Atmos with these systems is brilliant. I was a bit unsure at first as I was using my Xbox One for blurays but after buying a dedicated player the difference is amazing. Would recommend any Onkyo with Atmos.

Well Richer now have the ATS930 at £129...and if it's the same as the YAS 93, they are clowns because when I called to check stock on that they didn't offer this as an alternative. I would have happily paid the extra., since cheapest I could find with stock for the YAS93was £139! Now I am annoyed with them! These things are also much cheaper priced in the US and Germany I notice. Why do we get ripped off?
If anyone is thinking of the YAS 93 Richer Sounds are selling the Yamaha ATS 930 which has exactly the same spec as the YAS93.

I picked the 930 up this morning from the Stockport Branch and they had about 6 left at £99.99. I did ask what the difference was between the 930 and the 93 and was told no difference.

http://www.richersounds.com/product/soundbars-sound-base/yamaha/ats930/yama-ats930-blk
Update - john lewis will price match Peter Tyson price match if you prefer to buy from them , they say you get a 2 year warranty but yamaha offer 2 years on this item anyway, happy new year

Thanks! I've been looking to get the yas 93 and couldn't find it anywhere for less than £139 and then I happened across your post, Happy New Year!

I hope you managed to get it for £119, I see they have put it up now to £139 too. :(

Yes, bank charges etc... I think you can get it free if you have a certain card....
I am sure it came from the UK, it took about 3-4 days.

The 25s are good and more compact they feel better that the 15s. I guess if you know no better you won't feel they are worth the extra £45, however if you travel regularly and use them on the tube etc the 25s are worth the extra £45. hard to quantify how much extra they are worth up £25 is a no brainier but at £45 i would buy the 15s if its your first pair of good headphones
Thanks, I got the 25's from Amazon.es for £207~ so good deal IMHO. Tried them on a recent trip to the far east, they are fantastic. I just need to justify to myself the outlay.

Better than Cambridge audio minx?

The Bostons should be better than the Cambridge audio minx because of the tweeter - enabling it to handle high notes (higher frequencies) better.

Got the special editions of these. Sound great though be aware if your sub takes a few seconds to kick into life in noisy scenes you need to play with the crossover settings on your amp and the sub so it doesn't go to sleep in quiet scenes.

Just set the crossover to 120Hz and be done with it.

Crossover on the sub? I have a crossover on my amp too and I think I need to get the two to play nice together :)

The speakers have crossovers too, but if you're using LFE for the sub the AV's sub crossover is dormant.

Hi Krisgoss,

That was a good price - it's up to £250 now unfortunately. Are you happy with the amp?

Yes mate, I couldn't be happier - it's my first real bit of hi-fi equipment, and I cant believe the difference its made. Bought this particular amp because of the sub out, but it really isn't needed - plenty of bass through the speakers as it is.
Only down side is - there isn't many settings to play with, you just plug it all in, and its awesome straight away. I have been used to home cinema amps for years where you fiddle with the crossovers, speakers levels etc etc.

Would recommend it for anyone interested!

This is clearly a clone of the renowned Hitachi TRK series, albeit with a couple more inputs and a slight design tweak.

Plus I would be uncomfortable risking £350 of my own money on a brand no-one's ever heard of.

Great price for this.
You buy the R-wand to get wireless, and better quality than Airplay. R-wand/ Good price from Richer sounds
Good price but no AirPlay :-(
