I went to Morrisons yesterday and saw these chairs with a big sign saying 'Special Purchase £25'. I was quite pleased as I had just been to PC world looking for a similar chair and their cheapest ones started £50 (except those tiny ones).

The picture isnt the exact picture of this chair but its the most similar I could find, it is a leather style - obviously not real leather.

It is quite a large box and weighs 11kg, but saying this I still managed to get it home on the bus :) It was very simple to put together - it was all allen key screws so didnt even need to get the tool bag out and even better didnt need to bother my OH.

Hope this helps someone :D

Comfiness report?

Erm, well we have mixed reviews in our house, I myself actually prefer it to our old chair as it makes me sit at the pc better, but my OH doesn't like as much as our old one, because it doesnt tilt back.
However our old chair was a really really good one that we got given from some top office dude, i reckon it was a couple of hundred.

But for £25 it is more than suitable. It goes up and down quite a long way, the seat isn't squishy, but also it isnt hard either. I sat on it for about 4 hrs last night and had no complaints from mi bum :D

:-D Excellent, cheers.

They've got the same deal on at Asda. I just happen to be sitting in one now, more comfortable than my old PC World computer chair.

Great buy - bought one in Cream at my local Morrisons. Heat added.

Bought 1 of these last year and the year before, sadly they only seem to last 1 year and then the rise and fall bar goes all wobbly,I am now looking for a better one, so cold from me I'm afraid.

I bought one of these for £20 from Staples about 3 years ago and it's still going strong now, no problems with it whatsoever. For a comfy chair on a budget, go for it!

rep for getting it home on the bus :w00t:

this would be fine for infrequent / light PC user.

I have one and its lasted 2 years and its starting to fall to bits now.

these are low quality chinese imports, may last you for really light use

I had a similar one, it broke within 6 months :x

Tip, find your local secondhand ex-office furniture warehouse/ shop and get
a really good strong one from there, better for your back and will last a lot longer ;-)

who cares if it dosen't last 10 years? it's £25 for a decent chair that will last you a year, voted hot

My thoughts exactly, our old chair was a really expensive one, and even tho the chair itself lasted ok, the wheels broke off the legs at the bottom and i couldnt fix because the plastic legs had broke.

I even tried to put the chair on the top of these new wheels, but it wasnt compatible :(

£25 is £25 cheaper than the same chair in Staples or PC world!

mine lasted about a year too. Just thrown it in the skip. When the air went the chair started jolting when sitting in it. then ended up in a too low for comfort position.

Its a £25 chair you are getting basically what you pay for nothing more

Just picked mine up from derby store, there were loads of them out on display, about 20 on the stand id guess. they are to the rear of the derby store..
I am quite happy, for the money you cannot complain, reasonably comfy, and perfectly sturdy enough. gas lift works well.
Try and build on a carpet surface or protect your hard floor as the metal on chair base may scratch laminate floors etc while building..

Basic Chair Info - Hight 103 - Width 58 - Depth 57 (Centimeters)

Step 1: Open the Box! -

Step 2: check your contents with the list! (note: I was looking for my screw covers for a while when i realise that they were inside of the gas lift cover!)

IMPORTANT!!! There are 12 screws, they are very similar but there are actually slight differences in length, as per
your instructions, there are 4 long bolts (for the base/gas lift) and 8 bolts to secure the arm to the base and the back.

Star base

Press the wheels into the base - a fair amount of force is required!

Gas Stand base of chair
Follow instructions -NOTE** Both the metal gas stand and the chair base have an arrow showing which direction is the front! see pic,
insert the four LONGER screws with washers attached, loosly at 1st, and tighten (if your washers are stuck together like mine
give em a gentle smack with something to seperate)

Arms
When screwing these in its important i think to tighten all of them loosly at first, otherwise it becomes hard to locate the back with the base

Got them in my local asda for £20 ;)

These look the same as the 'Munich' from Tesco and if like me, you weigh 15 stone, then they might not be suitable.
One of the arms gave way on me at one of the lower bolts, and luckily only my pride was injured as I fell backwards, my legs akimbo:oops:.

It was alright until then!

Absolute rubbish lean back and the 3mm wooden base cracks and splits the riser piston leaks so lowers you slowly to the lowest point really anoying when you have to adjust the height every 2 mins.

Well because you can spend £25 on a chair for a year, or £75 for a chair for 5 years.

No brainer to me....

Hot post, but I wont be buying for this reason, so I;m out

Where is a better value chair? Maybe for more money but better comfort/durability

Saw these instore the other day, excellent price. I recently got this from ebuyer for £22 delivered in the sale - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150978 and whilst its nice for the intended use (rented property) can't help but think the Morissons chair would havebeen superior had it been available at the time.

I bought one of these chairs late last year now...same price, good deal I guess...but as someone who uses their pc most days, or nearly everyday..the chair looked used and old quick. The faux leather on the front is slightly worn, and I'm not a rough person! So I wasn't impressed....

Still trying to look for a bargain of a proper chair..like my old one (which nearly killed me, as it keeled over *near the stairs)

The last on average a year - my one which I bought last year - identical to this one - broke last week. Plastic leg broke off. Not good.
