I'm on the 'works' with home phone package, plus unlimited eve & weekend calls. All for about £10 a month as an existing customer I managed to get some extra discount and services, ie hide my number etc, due to not being told some vital info on their traffic shaping which up until 8 minutes ago my downloads were taking ages but all of sudden they have jumped up to full speed with my uploads hitting 2 mbps.

I have yet to hit any snags with their unlimited downloads / FUP. Mon - Fri is when I my PCs do their downloading so in all not much of a difference to me coming of the old package.

Have you had the letter to say it's going up to £9.50? You probably know that you then ring them and they will give you a £2.50pm discount for being a loyal customer (and signing up for another 12 m) so down to £7pm

Sorry but voting cold...call O2 with this and you'll get dumped on the new Throttled packages...
#17
yeah mate i did it abd posted it on this site to tell everyone about it. At one point i felt that my downloading from p2p was going slower than before. I thought they were throttling me at one point but when i phoned them they said no, im still on the old package. Is there any way i can check if they are restricting my download speeds at a particular time.

I've got o2 home phone and I phoned them up to change it to line rental only. Cost £7.50pm, when I asked what deal they could do for me as my bb contract had ended, they gave me 12 months free bb.
#19
I need to call them today, only signed up for phone and BB on friday!!!
This was never mentioned to me.
#20
I wished I had known about the download limits on their new packages before I signed up. You cannot "download as much as you want". The services are limited to 100gb and 250gb. The worst is that ASA and Trading Standard have decided that this policy is acceptable (not to tell the customer about the limits at point of sale). The Broadband business now seem to go down the same route as mobile phones providers do for years.

With people talking about the throttling, how bad is this? What do you get throttled down to and does anyone know if this affects SSL traffic? Thanks

How about telling people what is a better deal rather than just saying this isn't any good?

Hi, i'm only paying £7. Give them a quick phone and they give you £2.50pm loyalty discount and you still get to stay on the same package.

I have been with O2 since the started the BB bussines here, always good service and price, but I see my BB not so good for a couple months, I still get the average 14-15Mega but specilly with PS3 the lagging some time is annoying. Also I have the home phone line package with O2 (due to expire in June). In the other hand I see people talking about the good full BB Sky package and line rental they have and I am thinking to bargain with sky (my half price tv package due to expire in June) about to get the full BB package with then if they rewew my half price tv package.

Anyone here have moved from O2 to SKY ? is SKY 'Truly
Unlimited' ?

Better deal is just to NOT ring O2...just let the contract roll on and you'll stay on the old unlimited /unthrottled package.

Thats a good deal so you pay only 13.50 a month for the works broadband (be it throttled) and anytime unlimited?
#32
Thsi is a great deal, if you go into an O2 shop and buy the box, it should be £50 but they do it half price for £25 plus they give you a £50.00 credit well worth getting a box from an o2 shop instead of getting one send out you get the £25 bonus.
#33
I called up O2 yesterday to see what they had to offer unaware of this post (customer for 2 years).

They initially offered 6 months free (working out at £6.50 per month for the 12 months). However when I asked if they could do anything that would incorporate ine rental they offered me the following;

All Rounder Package FREE
Line rental £7.50 per month
New Premium Router
Free Static IP address

That was too good to be true so I bit their hands off. They did drop a boll%&k as they didn't tell me that the router would need setting up once I went onto Static IP which meant 20 minutes on the phone to Technical support, and after a few hours I went back to dynamic as there had been a noticable drp in speed on static IP.

Nevertheless a very good deal.

I went into store paid the £25 for the o2 box 4 with the usb ports and wireless n , they then credited my account with £50, i choose the works , so 6 months free for the works then i plan to change tarriff to the all rounder £12.50. which means it will only cost me £50 for the year. as the £25 extra credit will cover another 2 months. Making it 8 months free.

Im currently with sky,
I have Sky TV at £22.50,
Sky Broadband Unlimited £15.00
£5 off Broadband each month if taken with Talk 03/05/11 - 02/06/11 £5.00CR
Subtotal: £10.00

And Sky talk which came to £18.41,
so this months sky bill total was £50.91 way too much!
My landline is with BT and paid by another family member.

So I rang sky today and said I dont want the sky talk or Tv and just want bb unlimited for £15 a month, they said they can do that, is that a good deal? Or should I go else where. This BB search is full of a minefield of tricks. I must admit though that sky bb has been very fast, reliable, great speeds on p2p and does seem to be unlimited (never had any notices, then again im not a mammoth bandwidth user, probably about 20GB-30GB a month)

Thanks for any help. Cheers.
#36
sky talk is that unlimited calls( local and national) for £18.41? coz thats expensive
, maybe change your phone line rental too,
Bt was £9.99 if yoy pay the years line rental upfront, maybe ask them how much it is for unlimited calls.
Cant be more than a tenner.
My parents are paying £25 for line rental unlimited calls and broadband with virgin. You should be paying around that £25-£30 for all three.
#37
Ok thanks I will look into it. Cheers.
#38
I took sky up on their offer of Unlimited Broadband and Unlimited Sky talk for £15 and got rid of the useless sky tv package. Im not sure what our BT line rental is as another family member pays that but I will find out, im pretty happy with my deal.

Can I just ask, what exactly is the criteria that 02 want when they say you need to of had an 02 mobile for 2 years? I have been with 02 for that length of time and more, but with various pay as you go sim cards, but when I bought my phone from the carphone warehouse back in 2008 I bought it with an 02 pay as you go sim package, but I no longer have that original sim. I wonder If I would of met the 2 year 02 criteria?

Or is it for 02 contract users only? Its not very clear tbh.
#39
Suppose it depeneds on whether your sims were registered to you , if they are still active or you have been a customer on pay as you go for 2 years, ring them , you got nothing to lose.
