Sky have introduced a new clause in their policy which says that you have to give a 31 day notice to cancel. This takes effect from 16th April.. This still works alongside the minimum 31 day period you have to take sky out for.

Because of this change over, they have removed the 31 day period to cover themselves legally...

I found out about this because I rang up today to put sky sports on and they told me the new change takes effect from 16th april and i'd have to ring up from that date to give my 31 day notice meaning I would have been forced to take the channel out for a month and a half. I rang back up, got put through to their "downgrade" department and they say that because of this changeover, you're free to cancel at ANY point between now and the 16th April- Meaning you do not have to satisfy the 31day period AND the 31 advance notice which obviously hasn't taken effect yet.

In essence, why I consider this a deal is because today I have decided to take out SKY SPORTS 1 to watch a football match, tomorow, i'm free to cancel it. They will charge in advance, at first and then re-fund the difference through pro-rata. Therefore a days worth, or a football match is only going to cost me 30p!! I assume the same thing applies for sky movies.. so if there's a movie you wish to watch, you can take it out for a day or a week for only a couple of pound and not feel you have to have it for a whole month....

If you don't trust what i'm saying- ring up, look to upgrade and ask if you're allowed to downgrade anytime between now and 16th April and they SHOULD say yes.. if not complain and ask to be put through to someone else etc.. They have to enforce this for the time being because of the whole change over in their terms and conditions... If they didn't I would've taken sky sports out today and would have ended up paying for 1 and a half months. which would've be unfair..

Hope this makes sense!! good look! I think it's worth it :)

How come existing customers haven't been informed of this detremental change to their terms and conditions? Surely they have to send a letter to customers to inform them of any change in the T&Cs?
#2
They have been informed it was in the magazine in a letter

Thanks flippertyflop!!

no I don't think you are- it works. Just a bit confusing to get your head round it at first!

It's obviously something they're not going to advertise is it!

Why are people voting this cold???

I hate sky too. Normally, anything I see sky related on hotukdeals, I think it's a scam or just another way for them to make more money.. but this seems pretty good- well for the next two weeks anyway!

Good luck, hope it works for other people!

I don't work for sky and I am not trying to sell this in any way! but if you are a non-sports subsribers like myself, Chelsea v Manutd is worth it for 30 pence.. (sky sports 1 costs £9 per month)...

With regards to the t&c letter- they should've sent one out to you a few weeks back!

Granted, you're right. Shouldn't have done that!! but I think it's quite an impressive find really... and it was all part of the other thread.

hassle calling 0844 number? there's a freephone number on saynoto0870....
AND ok you don't like football... but I'm guessing there might be a movie you'd like to watch :)?
