Apparently 80% is convection (which is why the term radiator is a little odd) but you will be radiating half the rest into the wall and, particularly if you don't have insulated cavity walls, losing most of that outside. Even if it saves just 2% it'll pay back in about 1 year...(10 rad house, heating gas £400 per year = £40 per rad, 2% = £0.80. Got to be worth a shot...
