How long is the dell warranty on this? Is this the same as reconditioned?

It does not have a dvd drive.

I have just e-mailed them asking to confirm whatt the warranty period actually is.
They say "Quote: These Dell Inspiron mini 10 netbooks have been opened and the contents checked. The netbooks are in "Grade A" condition with manufacturers warranty and are packaged in original boxes. "
But that is too ambiguous for me.
I'll update here when they respond.

Spoke to Carol on their customer service line, and she confirmed it comes with a 12 month warranty direct from Dell

If it is anything like the 11" version, Dells are horrible when it comes to upgrading ram, which to be honest is completely neccessary ( I have a n220 which is one of the best netbooks out the at the moment and that was really bad with 1 gb ram. it was alot better after upgrading to 2gb). The dell 11z had no ram access panels at the back. infact it doesnt have any panels. Watching the video the guy had to take off the keyboard the touch pad trully horrible to watch it was like heart surgery. Basically Dell netbooks, laptops are not made for upgrading. I'm on my 3rd high spec dell precision laptop (latest is a m6400) at work they have all been the same poorly made and blue screens all the time.
#23
Does this have a 160GB HD the spec above quotes 250 but on the site it says 160

eBuyer is recommended dude, I got a 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, HD display, Pentium T4300 processor 2.1ghz for £380.

I question the point of netbooks...okay it's alright for browsing the internet and the occasional document but it doesn't have much power at all?
But nevertheless, this site's about deals so hot from me.
#25
ordered thanks op
#26
Not bad.
OP - HD should be 160GB though according to your link at eXpansys.

It depends on your specific requirements - if your wanting to run Mac OS X on your netbook then the MSI Wind U100 has more compatible hardware for doing that; the Dell Mini 1012 can as well but it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles due to a couple of different hardware components.

Alternatively the MSI Wind series spawned a great deal of clones (i.e. Advent 4211, Medion Akoya E1210, etc) so there is a lot of badged hardware out there, which is compatible with it i.e. batteries.

But at the same time the MSI Wind is running with the older Intel Atom N270 CPU and is not as power efficient as the Dell Mini 1012 as the runtime with Intel N450 CPU is a lot better.

I suppose it's all down to personal choice but you might want to consider popping in past your local Curries or PC World to try them out in person to see which one is best for your personal requirements.

Actually upgrading the Dell Mini 1012 is a lot easier than the older Dell Mini 10v/1011 - if your check out the links over on my deal thread there's video and picture guides to show you how to do it.

It does not have a dvd drive.

That's pretty much standard for all netbooks out there - you easily install software onto the netbook via USB memory stick, USB hard drive, internet download or a local network connection.

If your wanting to watch movies locally on your netbook then you can easily rip your DVDs to disk and copy them over from another computer, which is equipped with an optical drive.

Of course you could also just buy purchase an external USB DVD drive as well, as there are a couple of deal threads here on HUKD for them.

These are B Grade stock, the 250GB red version that my mum received had B grade written on the box and despatch note. The lid was scratched and she returned it for a refund. Shame as these are good netbooks, nice clear screen and very long battery life. Would run better with 2GB especially if you have a lot of browser tabs open or multiple applications running.
