Suffering from that phone every day I would call it madness, over a hundred quid for that junk. Can't wait for it to die so that I can get something more reliable (it's a company phone...)

Hmm Motorola Milestone B stock £346 or £335 - yet on the same page an ad for a brand new Milestone for £359 - not a great disount.

Some good stuff on there though - good find OP.

Nobody loves you? :-D

Most deals start out cold as many members, who don't get out much, get a wee buzz from it.

Are you the guy that just offered me 25 quid for 4gb of corsair dominator ddr3 ram on ebay? you certainly sound like the type.
#13
cant find the E71 or the touch hd2 ;-)
#14
Alot of stuff still waaaay overpriced.

Best deal on that site is the (brand new) 311c for £249 + del - £5 voucher.
#15
I'm stil struggling to find any real deals on there. Some so called "sale" items are even exactly the same price as the new ones. Thanks for sharing anyway OP, but Expansys really need to do better if this is a sale or clearance.
#16
not many deals to be had there, looks like they stick to actual R.R.P's.

Each to their own. I love my E71. Latest firmware, perfect with my in-car bluetooth, email with Lotus Note Traveller, Skype for free wireless calls, brilliant keyboard, good battery life for a smartphone (3 days).

Maybe with the latest firmware it would be better, but I can't update to it: everytime I try in the middle of the process the 'connection gets lost' - despite using the original cable and trying also two different cables in case one is broken. So I am stuck with firmware 3. something which:
- crashed by car-stereo from time to time completely with its bluetooth
- regularly drains the battery when it loses connection to the email server and then tries with all strength (and overheating) to re-connect until it is dead

That's a shame. Have you tried to taking it to your nearest Nokia service place? I am on firmware 400.21.013 and used the Nokia Suite update software using a cable about a month ago. Prior to that, I had been on the original 100.... firmware - the upgrade was definitely worth while.
The only downside is that you have to set it up from scratch again, but then again, it's just like rebuilding a windows PC - everything is always much faster afterwards because it clears out the rubbish. Use Nokia Suite to backup first, but don't bother with the Settings as when you try to restore to the different f/ware version, the settings don't "fit", so it's more trouble than it's worth.

How did you manage to upgrade it to 400.x? As far as I'm aware, the latest update version for my phone is 300.x Also, if you're on 400.x have you been able to crack it with helloOX because I couldn't live with a locked-down symbian phone ever again.

And as previously mentioned, the best thing about the E71 is its battery life, which is excellent for a smartphone.

If the phone is on three then the latest firmware is 300.21.012

I bought my phone SIM-free unlocked from the Nokia website in July 2008 (when Quidco and TopCashBack were both doing 30% cashback!). Presumably these restrictions to 300.x are imposed by your network operator?

I have a work SIM so I have always just moved it to a phone of my choice (because the work provided phones are rubbish). I still haven't seen a compelling reason to move from the E71, though I am sure there are plenty of iPhone fans out there. I am familiar with its UI (as I have a Touch), but still prefer the E71 keyboard.

I have never heard of helloOX, but maybe that's because mine is unlocked and I have never felt the need to crack anything. Am I missing something here?

HelloOX cracks your phone and lets you install unsigned apps. This is not just for installing illegal software, as it is also useful for installing unsigned homebrew applications.

Turns out, as the poster above you mentioned, the latest firmware for a 3 phone is 300.x. I think I may flash it and debrand it so I can get the latest Nokia firmware instead.
#28
if you do order B-stockfrom expansy keep checking the link they send youinthe confirmation email as they often go out of stock and dont inform you resulting in a 31 day wait, happend to me a few other people so keep an eye on a product you buy, it is easy eough to cancel if this does happen however

Thanks. I thought you could turn off the requirement for installing only signed apps? Maybe that was a 100.x thing. I remember turning it off in order to install something before the f/w upgrade. Might have been the Y-Browser.

Mine seems to be more stable since the upgrade to 400.x. I used to have trouble with the BlueTooth pairing with my car - it would drop after a few minutes - but now it is rock solid.

Yeah, you can turn off requirements for signed apps but it doesn't work how you expect it to. I think in the latest version there are more strict requirements :(

The 300.x firmware was a big jump from the 200.x for me (it was much faster for a start!), but it's had a few stability problems (some memory leaks, forcing me to restart my phone, and just general hanging). Plus I've had a few 3g internet connection problems recently so an upgrade may be in order. I don't much fancy voiding my warranty, however, just in case...

I sure did, but I knew I was getting robbed! Not available on the Irish site, so I actually did pay £69 for it, but had to pay for shipping to Ireland which cost about £20, and Irish VAT...

Still tho, this was originally $700 when it first came out, and still €400+ on some of the European expansys sites.

v410 blocks off hellox (hellox uses map drives to trick installserver.exe) but all the latest f/ws are blocking them off. Pity you cant cook for pre s60 3.2 devices or else you could re-hack the e71

Okay. v400.x is still helloOX hackable though. v410 doesn't seem to be that widespread yet (when it is, I guess they'll find a new way of hacking it).

Err, on my E71 there is a menu option to turn off the check so that you can install unsigned apps.

EXpansys are pretty poor to deal with. Stock control is woeful, customer service similarly poor and estimated delivery times a product of illicit drugs.

Didntstop me ordering this though ...http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=186343

£30 minus the £5 paypal voucher not too shabby a deal...

They seem to like all that comes from Nokia. Even the E61 gets a good review and my god was that a dog. In comparison the E71 is indeed a masterpiece...
For some reason nobody ever dares to write bad reviews about Nokia. A bit like about Macs which also everybody has to find great........

Can someone post a link to the E71 deal please I can't find it.

I am not this guy & I can't see any connections....

I don't buy crap phones which missing almost everything and never pay the same price as New item cost. Simply go to Tesco & you will get the same Nokia 1208 for £9.97 compare to Expansys charge £21.48 for Nokia 1209 (model exactly the same as 1208) without any charger or packaging! you see the point mate?
