According to statistics, nearly 20% of fatal accidents in Europe are caused by fatigue and falling asleep at the wheel.
The Drive Alert vibrating earpiece is a simple solution to this problem. The Drive Alert is the first earpiece that warns drivers of the symptoms of falling asleep while they are at the wheel.
Emitting a vibration as soon as your head tips forwards, this appliance tells you when to take a break before it's too late. This earpiece is to be used simply to alert you to your fatigue, and is not intended to keep you awake all night. All you have to do is to take a quick forty winks or a walk in the fresh air to relax and stretch your legs before getting behind the wheel again.

For efficient use, you must test the position of the earpiece by lowering your head and readjusting it if necessary.

I bought one of these last year from Poundland for.....a pound. I use it on courses we run where commercial drivers are brought up to date on their driving skills, to show what irresponsible products are available!

The best thing it to plan your journey, with plenty of rest beforehand.
Take a break every couple of hours and have a high caffeine drink, followed by a 15 minute nap if you feel you need it.
You should NEVER be driving to the point where your head is dropping forward so as to activate this device. (it works on a simple adjustable tilt switch) The instructions with the one I have does not even say to pull over when the device activates, just that it will wake you up each time.

REMEMBER YOUR EYES ARE PROBABLY CLOSED BEFORE YOUR HEAD TILTS FORWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This device does not prevent that happening so you might be awaoen by the sound of an impact (providing you are still alive)

NOT a good buy.

I concur this will give you a false sense of security and will do more harm then good.

What a pointless product.
How about resting if you're tired, it's free too!

What a moronic product, for moronic people. Hope I'm not on the road at the same time as someone who is using this device...

They do, and it's more like only £1.70. I have one. It does the job perfectly well, but it is a rather nasty blue plastic which is poorly finished. However, at a tenth the price, I feel this plastickyness is an acceptable trade-off...........
