So if you were to just buy that (no other items) and wanted it delivered instead, it would be an extra £2.59 then.

Still, sounds like a good deal to me - I'll order it to the store too then - I've been waiting for a deal like this to come around :)

Heated and repped :)

EDIT: Turns out I can't buy it after all then - they don't accept Visa Electron :-(

Fantastic - these are great books - my son will love them - as did I!! Incidentally - Phillip Pullman was a lecturer at my college (Westminster College, Oxford) and even taught my mum english there around 1994ish!!

I'm actually worried about what the film will be like - apparently they've taken out all the religious stuff - but the actual plot is pretty much all religion, so where does that leave it?

I know it is released in USA in December, but I wouldn't be surprised if we had to wait until January though.

Films are always a poor copy of the books, look at LOTR or Harry Potter. Fair enough, otherwise you'd get films 24 hours long!

Well, I probably wouldn't mind that with Harry Potter - not a fan of Lord of the Rings anyway though - 2 minutes is too long for that for me lol.

Yeah, it's very rare that a film will be as good as the book it's based on, as the film is the director's vision and interpretation of the book. That's what I found with Harry Potter - I didn't have the same image in my mind of, for example, Draco Malfoy, as the director did so it seemed a bit weird to me. I love films (and watch far more films than I read books) but you can't beat getting really engrossed in a book. It's nice to have to use your own imagination.

That said, I loved all the Harry Potter films and the LOTR films.
