Available for less than £600 at dixons website with codes ph10(-£75) and theaa25(-£25) plus the usual quidco! :giggle:

however use code £40 off £600 spend instead of theaa25 and ph10 now it only reduces by £25 to get it down to £585.

Otherwise £50 cheaper than Currys without codes at £649!

Received mine today......absolutely brilliant for the price!! Very light and portable with an excellent spec 4 the price. Half the price of the sony vaio's. Paid £600 but now getting a £15 refund after ringing up.

I recommend before going mad and splashing out this sort of cash you just take a quick trip to your local PCWorld etc and have a play, as they have been on the TV they will 9 times out of 10 have a display model to play with. :)
#5
Couldd someone please explain exactly which codes to use, as I can only get it down to £600 with ph10 and theaaa25.

Now you're teasing me since this seems a better bargain after finding some information about it!

If I bought this and hated it, can i use DSR to my advantage and take it back to a local Currys or PCWorld store for a refund?

Also could you PM me directions too, I can't apply the two codes required together it seems :).

Here are a couple of reviews of what seems to be the identical model as sold in the US under Averatec brand name.

Generally reasonable and fair value for money, but nothing to shout about and very disappointing battery life.

I've only just started using the internet but want to get my nephew a small and light laptop for his studies. Can you let me know how to apply the appropriate codes to reduce the price of the Philips X56 laptop to get it down to the £569 as quoted? It looks like you've done this already for people - but as a 'newbie' would really appreciate the help. Thanks

Hey up all...

My 1st post here and I must say I've been enlightened.

One thing I'd like to ask is about Quidco... Before now I had never heard of it, so promptly did a google to find the site. I'm a little concerned as to it's safety as I haven't done musch internet shopping other than with firms I know from the high street, or big firms like Amazon. And, as it seems they take a fee (fair enough - just concerned) I wanted to be sure!

Any advice would be appreciated as I am probably a bit naive in this area.

Cheers folks, LD!

argh! no pcmcia slot means my 3G card won't work with it!
#30
mikerr use a cheap 3g phone connect via usb. would be ideal if 3g data card was available but this is the best workaround im afraid.

anyone had there laptop delivered for the price £569 ?
#31
thanks for this.
#32
Can you post me the necessary £569 please? Thanks.

Quidco will only ever take £5 a year max out of earnings. It takes several months sometimes for cashback to come through, so don't count on the money, see it as a bonus. You need to buy the item through a Quidco link. Tracking data can take a few minutes to a few weeks.
I've been using Quidco for over a year now. Have earnings approaching £2000. The best one recently is £125 from Barclays home insurance, which has just tracked. :)

I was all but ready to pay the outragous sums asked for the Sony Vaio ultra portables as could see no real alternative when stumbled across the review of this gem on IT Reviews.

Add those to info on here and cannot believe how close I was to losing out in a big way!! Have played with this in PC World and must say the screen is superb, keyboard pleasing and dimensions and weight impressive. Was a little hot and does not look as classy as a vaio but for the price and spec it really is good. Strong feature for me is the widescreen sxga monitor as when I watched a clip from a dvd i was blown away. I suppose my only gripe would be lack of bluetooth so I cannot connect to mobile phone without a dongle but hey!

There is a sd/ms card slot and also a new type of interface (pcmcia similar). The IT Review site has a list of reviews of this and earlier models.

Well done to all for sharing your info on deals but I just cannot get this down to 569 with the voucher codes. Any help please.

Use code:
laptops40slim
theaa25

£649 –£40 –£25 = £584
Go through Quidco and get 2.5%

Code ph10 only reduces it by £1.00 now.
#39
Just my luck... Went on to put an order in and it had gone up by £40.

AND the vouchers won't work anymore!

Gutted.
#40
Sorry... The first voucher works - but not the second. Brings it to £649. The usual starting price for Dixons.

If only I could have remembered my card number yesterday...

And yes... I'm still gutted!
