great for price struggles with some later games run most with features turned down a lot better than on board graphics.Better than you expect at this price great find
#2
Great find, but does anyone know if this is a low profile board ? (even if it doesn't come with a LP backplate)
#3
Excellent price for a PCI-E card. I was after a cheap one for a backup machine.... voted hot as cheaper than fleabay.
#4
What screen res will this support?
#5
These will easily do 1680 x 1050. They probably even do 1920 x ****

Good card for the money. Will allow you to play basic games (Tiger Woods 07, etc) but Anything like COD4, etc is out of the picture entirely (unless you like playing at 640x480 with everything turned off)

This isn't a bad card for the money, and cheaper than when I got one back in the summer (it was a temporary replacement while I sent my 7900GT off for replacement back to EVGA). They are passively cooled, would be half-height if it wasn't for the bracket (making it a full-height card). This is the same card, but an earlier deal: http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96810

It will work in a dell vostro desktop but to my knowlegdge they have intel gma 3100 onboard and this wouldnt be any better at all really, your best off stepping up to at least an 8400gs

EDIT: Wont work in the slimline vostro only the 200 and 400 "MT"

as long as there is a PCI-E slot then yes.

This card is alright, but it doesnt have its own RAM onboard so if you want to high resolutiions then you are just using more of your system RAM.

Thats not the point though. For a PCi-E card, can you find one cheaper thats as equal on what it can do as this one? I'm quite happy playing COD4 and Crysis on ultra high settings but then my card didn't cost £15 ;)

Hot deal for anyone who don't play any of the latest games.
#13
I got one of these cards to replace the online graphics on a new PC I had - I ONLY wanted it to support dual monitor output, which it does. So I've got the VGA output goign to a monitor and the DVI going to a projector - Brilliant price for what I wanted.... I've not even tried the £D capabailities of this card, and probably never will.

Can I play Doom 2 on this card?
#15
How does this compare to these?
- GeForce 8400 GS
- ATI Radeon X1550
- Radeon 2400

waste of cash why bother with summit so old tech then expect it to play games with it.
#18
maybe people don't want to use it for games. I for one could do with 1 so I can use my monitor & lcd tv at the same time.

Doom 2?
Surely you mean System Shock? :)

Quite simply you are wrong. At this price I would bother, if I only had on board graphics and a spare PCI-e slot. Depending on the spec of the rest of your PC, this will play an awful lot of games provided you don't expect to play the latest games, or the the older ones at full resolution. Ideal for the casual gamer, so I make this a very hot deal.
#21
Figured I should register as I used to have one of these cards.

Everything said above is true, if you have just an on-board graphics chip it's a cheap way to improve basic gaming and media streaming.

I had no real issues playing Half Life 2 low-res but World of Warcraft never got frame rate into double digits.

For a low end card it also handled divx compression reasonably well and streams from stage6 were acceptable.

For £16 you can't really argue if you're just looking to beef up the family pc a bit.

Is this card better than a plain 256mb Geforce 6600? Thanks.

This Card < Radeon 2400 < GeForce 8400 GS < Radeon X1550

If you want a cheap card just to 'use' in a PC, without startling performance, then this is a bargain. It is by far the cheapest PCI-E card I've seen anywhere. I wanted a card for web surfing only, I'm never going to play bleeding edge games. At this price, and for the purpose I need it for, it can't be beaten.

What you mean? It says 128 Meg. It won't use system memory.

is this card better than my onboard graphics card which is:

ATI Radeon Xpress 200 (128mb memory, 400mhz internal DAC)?

No good to me, the missus has banned me from playing pc games, I'm only allowed on the wii now.

Irony? Is that like goldy and bronzy?

(I said "System Shock" - from the same era as Doom 2... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Shock
... not Bioshock or anything else post 1994... hence the smiley )

It says HDTV out, but will it output non HD videos (divx / WMV) played in Windows Media Player to a TV via composite or s-video if installed in a Dell Vostro 200 ?
#36
Hi, I dont know much about graphic cards. Could I use this to have a HD (1080p) output to my LCD TV. If I buy a blue-ray drive aswell as this graphic card, will my PC play Full HD stuff onto my tv? Thanks

Got mine today. Reduced my Vista score from 3.4 to 3.1 lol.
3.4 was the integrated gfx chip!!
1 Like #40
Your integrated graphics may have more capabilities than this card, depending on the chips involved. What the dedicated card does is free up system reources used by the on-board graphics to run applications - you free up system memory and the cpu to do the things they do without also working on the graphics. This is most useful for people without a lot of system resources (not a lot of memory, single core processor) who aren't gamers who play the latest games, typically people who use the computer for the internet, office applications and maybe some older games who are on a budget.
