Last time a netto sirloin deal was on and I got some but it was like off cuts! I also had a look at the back of the label and it contained loads of different things other than beef so much so the carb levels were higher than my low carb diet would really allow but had it anyway. Also it tasted crap - I eat loads of cheap meat from netto and lidl and don't normally have a problem but this was horrid.

this was the last deal, check the back of the packet to see what they have added unless it's a new supplier and it is just meat.

As someone medically forced onto the abject MISERY of a permanent VERY low carb diet too, as well as being professionally very experienced in meat and meat products, I can't begin to understand what you are on about!

I could well understand it not to be very well shaped and badly cut up in preparation, and what it taste likes is always going to be a gamble, but quite what and how it could be significantly higher in carbs than any other sirloin steak defies common sense, UNLESS it was a marinated type steak/meat product (Netto sells a number of these tacky fluorescent things!)

I would be well interested to see the pack!

It's 'basted' (I went and had a look today) - morrisons sirloin in comparison is 100% sirloin this is 78% sirloin, the rest is (from the back of the pack) water, salt, whey protiens, dextrose, glucose syrup and then it has some sodium carbonates, and sodium ascorbate.

Enjoy! nearly a quarter of it is not meat!!! WTF?!

no MISERY here with low carb lost 8 stone in one year, size 42 jeans to 30. Happy times!!

i think if you're gonna go buy steak it's better to go for quality over quantity. if you're going to go for a supermarket, at least go for morrisons.

Glad you did look, in this case, it's VERY badly described on their web advert, and like you, NOT something I would buy, Low carb or not! That's my idea of misleading :-(
It's pretty much the same as those Marinaded things they do, but without the strong flavouring. Absolute Dross:-(

There's a world of difference between low carb to lose weight and low carb to stay alive, believe me! Yes I have lost weight... but only about 16 or 17kg in 18 months, about half of that in the first couple of months...and that's eating VERY low carb, as I have a simple method to keep me strictly compliant... I am ill, and pass out if I don't!

Compared to a more traditional low fat low calorie diet, for loosing weight it works, yes, I can eat, (even OVER-eat without gaining weight) but it's not even close to tediously counting calories for shedding the flab. With low cal you are constantly hungry to lose weight, which is a bind, but the most successful component is It all boils down to exercise, and that's what does the deed, whatever type of dieting you use... with exercise I could loose weight relatively easily using any system, and did many times; now I am much more disabled and can't up the exercise level much, so it goes VERY slowly, and you can eat larger quantities of nothing I would ever want to eat. It's also SPECTACULARLY expensive, probably easily 5 or 6 times as expensive as eating a conventional balanced carb-containing diet, and it means I have to cook EVERY single meal, as there are NO low carb products other than things like cooked meat (most of those aren't very suitable either!). Shopping is quick though, as there is so little I can buy! I could write books about successful low calorie dieting, having had spectacular long term results maintained for many years until I became too disabled to do even normal sedentary level exercise

Believe me, the first year is easy, it gets more miserable every day going by, if you can NEVER break it, when there is no maintenance phase like with Atkins diet!:-(
