Not quite sure this is being voted cold, seems a very good price for the make and model.

:santa: :santa: stay clear of rear projections.. plasmas and LCD's are so cheap now. stick with them :santa: :santa: :santa:

rjm: Possibly because of the appalling reputation of BargainCrazy's owners, Littlewoods/Great Universal. I'm not the only person around here exceeedingly peed off with them

Don't work for Currys or Comet do you findmeabargain? That's the kind of uninformed response you'd expect from them.

Check the performance figures of LCDs against rear projection and you'll find LCDs are no comparison. Sure you'll find plasmas that can compete - but compare like with like - find a 50" plasma that performs as well as rear projection at that price!

When I bought my rear projection set from Comet, the sales guys were gobsmacked when they actually took the troulble to connect it up to an HD feed. It's also only 720p but it knocks the s**t out of most LCDs and plasmas because it doesn't suffer from all the picture processing artefacts that most of them exhibit.

You've got to buy a high end LCD from the likes of Sony before you can even contemplate any chance of being able to see black as black. And that will cost double the rear pro investment!

Remember this is all about bargains - 50" of decent TV picture for a good price.

My friend bought one of these. Not a bad set, but I wouldn't buy one. Extremely limited viewing angles and tragic internal speakers (sometimes I just don't want my AV receiver and 5.1 fired up).

I had a Phillips 40" rear projection a few years ago, what a heap of Junk! I am with findmeabargain on this:p

Heat and rep added, superb for a cinema/games room. PS3 and 360 look fantastic on these and as mentioned above much better picture thatn cheap crappy LCD's. Not so hot with an SD feed but for the price for a 50" sony set including the nice glass stand you really cannot go wrong. Lets face it this is cheaper than the panny 32" LCD.

Idiots that are voting cold because they have a preference for a different type of TV are too thick to understand the idea behind this website, your supposed to vote cold if you know of a better a price for this tv? :giggle:

...............and to give valuable experience of products, cos the price is not the whole story....peeps on here have saved me from buying cr**p more than once. But as long as we all understand that it is opinion only and that one man's meat is another man's poison then the comments should be welcomed.:p

We can all bang on about how rubbish things were years ago - sure your Philips set was probably rear projection CRT and no good by today's standards. But that's no reason not to consider a 50" TV bargain in 2007.

Have you seen rear projection DLP or LCOS sets? I can watch my 50" DLP set without feeling dizzy from all the motion artefacts that LCDs give and without having spent two or three times as much money on a plasma. Blacks look black and whites look white too!

I wouldn't buy this Sony rear-pro, because DLP rear-pro is better, but in terms of being a bargain, it's not bad vfm. And being native 720p, it'll do a much better job of presenting a picture should someone connect an upscaling DVD player to it than any 1366 x 768 LCD or plasma.

I have looked at many RP's, dont seem to have improved to the point that I would ever consider one.

....and has the same comment value as "crappy lcd"

Surely the point is that you're supposed to mark rep for the item's price. Whilst you might prefer some other technology, that isn't what we are scoring it on. I have 50" Sony rear projection and it's awesome. I also have a samsung 32" lcd which is also good. Don't vote on personal preference, vote onon whether it a deal for what it is.

Jeez, you still don't get it! A deals heat rating has nothing at all to do with wether you would buy one or not:thinking:

You can say the same about some LCD TV's

Disagee with that. I was very concerned about viewing angles before buying mine, and, it's a none issue unless you're nearly at right angles.

shame the offer is now expired it seems, cant add to basket any more ,i wanted to replace my 43 inch samsung rear projection with this as it was one hot deal!
