Just had a look on Opodo and it seems Turkish Airlines are doing some cheap deals, covering a few airports not just Heathrow.

Mumbai £221
Hong Kong £182
Bangkok £287

etc, etc

They cost more on the actual turkish airlines page!

So too have other airlines - still doesn't stop the vast majority of us from flying with them or any others!

I've used Turkish Airlines a few times in the past and recommend along with their overall service.

Thanks OP.

No they didn't crash recently due to "dodgy maintenance".

A VERY good carrier.

still crashed though:p

That was not the question/statement nor the point! It aint funny either as people died as a result!

BTW, so did Concorde: i.e. British Airways? Does that mean the "World's Fav Airline" cannot be trusted with air travel? Get a life...
#15
That was Air France actually, not BA but a good point all the same

According to some "experts", the Turkish Airlines plane didn't crash, it "landed short of the runway".

You tell me...

Thanks, I stand to be corrected; same difference nonetheless!

Flying Turkish Airlines is pretty safe, like all commercial air travel. However, BA has a much better accident record (TA is the second worst in Europe after Aeroflot). I don't know if this is relevant in this context (i.e. hotukdeals) but I've avoided TA for this reason in the past.

booked £224 MAN to BOM and will be booking MAN to HKG for £174
#19
Decent enough deal and to be honest I would still fly with them, still safer than driving, it is just when an accident occurs it gets media coverage as there is generally multiple fatalities.

Not to go off topic, but if you are interested then you can read the preliminary report regarding the crash here: http://www.onderzoeksraad.nl/docs/rapporten/Prelimenary_EN.pdf and there is a massive thread on airliners.net.
#20
Wouldn't be my first choice of airline long haul but a good deal nonetheless heat added
#21
booked 4 return trips now...

3 from MAN to BOM and one from MAN to IST to HKG

MAN to BOM was £224 plus cash back (quidco) and £168 MAN to IST and then to HKG (with cash back)

It cheaper to stop in IST :D
#22
I think they would have to pay me to fly Turkish Airlines.
#23
Just to introduce some facts to the debate. Here are the crash rates for european airlines. You decide!

Yes that seals it, and I am not flying on any Former Soviet airlines either.

#36
hhhmm Itried £286 for delhi link ... and came to know its one side fare so SUPER COLD
#37
i flew with turkish airlines to istanbul and dubai last year. the food and service was alright, but the planes are quite old. i think heathrow to istanbul should be one of their prime routes, yet they dont even have their best planes doing the route. they still had the tv's that fold out of the roof in economy class. The dubai leg was exactly the same. But I am not complaining as the fare was cheap and it got us back and forth safely.

The Air France crash was caused by the airoplane in front lossing some bits and the Air France plane running into these parts so it was neither BA's or Air France to blame I forget the name of the airline but it was there doggy maintence
