Most people don't know what a "good" dvd is.

The fact is, the only time I know a dvd is REALLY good, then it's a verbatim or has taiyo yuden dyes.

The **** that gets "hot" on here amazes me. You just need to look on SVP to see what discs are worth buying.

I was under the impression these were one of the best brands to use.

They are, but as one of the other posters did say, they wouldn't know a good dvd if it smacked them in the face.

TY don't make dvd's, only the dye. The best quality are Verbs with TY dye, only available in Europe ( at the moment at least ). This price equals SVP for Verbs if you buy 200 at a time, not everybody wants to do that. Voted hot because I do know what I'm talking about.

so what makes a good dvd soooo good?

I have been burning dvds since burners came out.

I started off with intenso cds and when i started to burn dvds i used tuff discs. I have never... and i mean never had a coaster with a tuff disc no matter what speed or using progs while burning, using different apps etc.

also, when my first burner was conking out.. the discs still burnt and were readable. I noticed the burner was going cause i started getting streaks on the burn side.

tuff discs cost £10 for 100 for 16x for dvd-r and dvd+r.

so what is the attribute that everyopne goes crazy over with yudens? reliability.. ive burnt 1000+ dvds and NEVER had a burn fail.

so dont tell me you know what you are talking about. they manufacture dye. they didnt invent the concept of DVD media so don't try to be the autority on what is good and what is not and how much you know about the "dvd scene".

I bet you have an ipod cause some website said how "good" it was... well i'll sit back and enjoy my drag and drop creative zen thank you very much... oh and my tuff disc dvds.

this is cold... i'd vote again if i could

Calm down!

At the end of the day it's also a matter of user preference... Ford / Fiat........... DELL / HP............... Epson / Canon.

I'm not going to buy 100 discs not knowing if they're any good just for the sake of a tenner, I'd rather stick to what has worked for me in the past.

that's my point too... i have used tuffdiscs and they work great.. i dont like all this "expert on the scene" I used tuffdiscs for everything.. my grand turismo 1 is still going strong on my intenso too!

Always used datawrite myself, but recently have been using the Maxell on offer at Play (£9.99 for 80 minus 5% minus quidco). Not had a coaster yet from the 100+ used, and together with the price makes this a bad deal I think

now im not disagreeing with you but i buy tuff-disks too for their 'strength' when you drop them etc..

but you do realize they're cheapo £1 for 10 disks with just an extra coating on them? If you hold them up to the light you can see the cheapo brand of disk underneath them :p (just a tip lol)

I tried it but can't see thru the disc?

Both PC World and Staples are selling these cheaper than this.

I have movies on TY's and Verbs that are over 10 years old and still play perfectly. I have had cheap **** fail to play after 3 months, thats the difference. If you want to keep the dvd for any length of time without loss of quality, you pay for that privilidge. It still works out cheapper in the long run, as 1 TY will outlast your Tuff 10 fold.
