Looks good to me - very good reviews on Argos too. Thanks.

the long length is in two halves, dh is a pack flat expert but the edges wouldn't line up. Put the assembled one in a dark alcove and took the other one back for a refund. Looks ok from the front but from the side the join is visible.

We are currently looking at flats to rent, and every other one we look at has one of these!

The finish on the Ikea ones is nicer, though they are £20+.

hi chalkysoil, how bad did it look from the side? i am thinking about getting one but one side would be visible, its only in the hallway mind so i would not be too disappointed if it was a tiny bit out, but if you are talking a couple of mill then that could look quite bad

The reviews on Argos seem very positive.
Ikea are £29 so almost double price.

Is it possible they are the same and made by the same company or is there definately some difference between the argos ones and ikea ones ?

they are nothing like the Ikea ones. I have 2 Ikea ones bought about seven years apart and they are very similar to each other. The Argos one is slightly thinner shelves and looked wrong near the Ikea ones.
The join on the long lengths is visible even in a dark alcove but it's the fact one bit is proud of the other, only by a small bit, (paperclip wire size?) that is annoying. From the front it's like the two bits aren't quite lined up, it gives a sawed in two and rejoined look if you look closely - but who does usually?. But it's got a pile of dvds in it which is a huge improvement on piled up on the floor. Dh was still making model airplanes etc at age 30 and has loads of clamps glue etc but was still p'ed off by it. It's not so bad that I'd have bothered taking it back once assembled but I took the other one back and we went to Ikea for one of theirs.
Price is good though.
