Seems a nice deal for a PC Monitor......

Sorry to ask a stupid question....but.....

Q1: How would it be good in a kids room for their xbox or PS3???

It surely would have no obvious means of connection to PS3 (and no sound either).... or am I missing something???

All that assumes the monitor is HDCP compatible... Not all budget monitors are and spec on ebuyer website leaves you none the wiser.

Good price for 22inches at 1920x1980 nonetheless. Heated!

PS3 - HDMI>DVI converter, and sound via the AV cable into a hifi.
Xbox 360 - VGA cable, comes with red and white plugs to go into a hifi.

If it's HDCP then that's fine.

I would assume, at that price, this will not be HDCP. I can't play my PS3 on my 20 inch Philips because it's non-HDCP.

eh re: xbox360 - doesnt that defeat the whole point of a full hd monitor - so you use an analogue cable to show pictures on a full digital monitor.....why not spend a little more and get a monitor with an hdmi connection, then you just need to work out best solution for sound...eg optical to a seperate amp/speakers

what he's saying is that that you feed the digital signal from the HDMI port via a HDMI>DVI adapter and you get the audio from the AV cable

The difference between HDMI/DVI and VGA/component is pretty small IMO, most modern monitors convert analogue signals very well and the 360 isn't the kind of device where you need to read crisp small text.

What's the resolution? The title says one thing and the description says another.
#15
Can anyone good with maths check something.....

The dot pitch looks wrong to me for a full HD 22" screen. The horizontal screen would have to be 21.3" on it's own. (1920*0.282=541.4mm=21.3")
So I make it a 21.3" X 12" screen, so a 24.5" diagonal.
Either the resolution or the dot pitch are wrong.....

Re: HDCP

If Im just playing games on xbox / ps3 - do I need HDCP?

Forget DVDs / Blu Rays

Nice find!

Thanks for all the replies, appreciated.

I guess at the end of the day this is a good deal for a PC screen, but could (potentially) be a can of worms for a console????....

Re: HDCP

Unfortunately, yes.
#25
Well I asked a few days back as the pic was for a HKC 2288C (as pictured above) or a HKC 2219B (which they seem to have changed the pic too now). It seems it's a Gaba re-branded one. Cant seem to find out if its HDCP complaint as the manufactures dont even list it.
#26
Regards the specs, gotta reckon ebuyer shift alot of different makes and models under the super special brand. Could assume the units they supply for this have recently changed and someone made a mess of the specs (seems to happen alot on their super special stuff).. I would bank on the res being correct and the dot pitch being wrong. Eitherway you've got DSR and if it isnt what it says it is, you've got a refund on postage both ways to boot! If it also has HDCP, absolute bonus! If your after a budget screen atm, don't think you'll do much better than this, even more so if you don't have the benefit of free postage from Scan, as that bumps up the el'cheapo today only regular Digimate to nearer £115.

ordered.

I will update tomorrow with actual specs

#33
Thanks lordneon.
I second Deans request for info on whether it's HDCP compliant which seems to be the main outstanding query about this monitor. :)

High Definition Copy Protection is a form of encryption designed to stop people copying HD material from source. Your monitor will need to be HDCP capable if you want to view Blu-Ray discs on it, or use a games console via an HDMI cable. HDCP is only applied when using a digital source such as DVI or HDMI., so if you intend to only ever use a VGA cable, it doesn't matter.
