What does GAP mean? Or am I being particularly simple and overlooking an explanation of this term?

In simple terms, it means that this base station will work with any other GAP compatible handset, and these handsets will work with any GASP compatible base station.

It is to enable equipment from different manufacturers to work together.

Cheers, RightRevBod I like concise and simple explanations :)

most digital display phones do - even cheap jack ones.

I ordered these and are small enough to fit in my pleasure holes.

:w00t: Measurements on the manufacturer's website are:
Dimensions
1.142(L) x54(W) x25(D) mm (handset), 82(W) x54(D) x45(H) mm (base)
They are quite chunky, but a good price.

Single handset available too @ £14.99.

Not such a good deal but worth it if like me you don't actually need 2 handsets.

Good spot, these are quality.

I like the look of them - does anyone know if they can be used as an intercom?

Sorry if this is stated somewhere obvious but I've just got back from work & have to bath the baby so don't have much time.

cheers,
worto.

found this on the makers site - seems like its a reverse colour scheme - black / silver instead of silver/black
#19
just ordered some - hopefully they won't catch fire if I turn them on upside down like my last ebuyer purchase ;-)

Thanks,
worto.

Just got myself some with other stuff for the free delivery:thumbsup:

thanks for the link - it confirms that you can Intercom between the two handsets - heat & rep added :)

by the way is that a sponge monkey? I went to a fancy dress party as a sponge monkey last halloween sadly most people had no idea what I was but the people who did know thought it was well funny!

cheers,

cool :)

Anyway mine are here now after a couple of days of fun with 5hittylink as always.

I don't have much to compare them to as they are my first phones of this type but so far very impressed :)

Thanks Janz,
worto.

I'm puzzled. This website says they are Caller ID compatible (single, twin or triple) http://www.globalsources.com/gsol/I/DECT-phone/p/sm/1002627880.htm
but you're saying (as a user) that they're not.

I would like to buy the twin but do need Caller ID. Can you absolutely confirm that the ID does not work and that you do have Caller ID enabled by your phone provider? Thanks
#27
Oh, to heck with it - I've jumped in and bought the twin!! Bought the Western Digital 500Gb USB 2.0 Hard Drive, for £59.99, at the same time and got free delivery on the whole order. Really good price considering I have got both for about the same price as some are charging for the external hard drive alone.

Will post re the Caller ID when they arrive and the phones have been set up.
#28
Ordered earlier - Thanks !!

Oh NO !! no caller ID....... I doo hope so... will report back after delivery tomorrow
#29
yes they have caller display........ (providing you subscribe to it with your provider)

also a fancy button on the main base station....... after you have set the time/date.... you can press this button and it speaks the time/date :w00t:
#30
Thanks Legacy- pleased about that - how would you rate them for speech clarity, range etc.?

Mine are due to arrive tomorrow so I will be able to answer my own questions in due course I guess!
#31
I'm quietly impressed !!

Clarity seems pretty good.... I tried both an Internal and External call and both were GOOD - tried the speaker facility aswell

Mind you I've come from a Binatone phone (Dect) that wasn't too good........

but don't think you can argue quality V price !!

I went for the triple pack !!

I'm gonna try and connect my 2 binatones in to the base, as they are all GAP compatible...... might have a phone in the bathroom :?
#32
Thanks for that. Whilst I've been looking around for a good deal on a twin with answer machine I deliberately kept clear of the Binatones as have past experience of one Binatone which was not a good one - noise on the line which caused me to call in BT. Turned out it was the phone not the line. I nearly fell for the IDECT X1 series which look and feel good (ASDA have them in at £48+) but then I discovered they are made by Binatone and so I kept clear.

Still waiting for my delivery but plenty of time left in the day yet.
#33
Well CityLink delivered about 2 hours ago and I have been playing with the phones ever since.
Well impressed and only niggle I have for the moment is that they don't snuggle into the ear quite as nicely as the BT Synergy ones they're replacing. Just have to get used to that.

They do have Caller ID and I have checked that out with my mobile and can confirm that it works. Loads more facilities than the previous BT ones and the answer machine a doddle to setup. Different rings can be set for internal (use the two handsets as an intercom) or external calls. Base station can have a different ring too but not quite sure how that fits in.

So thanks to the OP and rep passed yr way.

I did exactly the same thing ;) :-D

Bit late looking at this one, but I have these and they are great, wouldn't you know it but now my answer phone has died so I have to order a separate one again, they are replacing BT ones (answer phone also BT) and are far better
