This is the Primadonna oil that won M&S, All the major supermarkets, Fillipo Berio, and Napolina in a blind taste test conducted by 'which?' consumer magazine. Sales of this went through the roof according to Lidl after the results went public.

Heat added.

Brilliant posts, thanks guys, just noticed we're running low, after boots and b&q I'll be at Lidl!
#4
Oil definitely be stocking up!
#5
it will be more expensive to fry your food in petrol soon.

Most of the supermarkets have offers on olive oil for the minute so shop around to find a brand you like

heat for a good price
#6
Extra virgin - why wait tile everyone else's had their fun with the olives?

Morrison's had 22 different varieties when I was shopping last weekend. It's becoming an obsession with supermarkets these days rather like it is with mature cheddar.
#8
is this for normal cooking or salad
#9
It's an EV OL so it ain't for frying eggs but great for frying stuff off for a chilli or pasta and yes, it's fine for salads.
I picked some up on Saturday but put it down again because the ques in my local Lidl were bonkers.

Few months ago this was on half price offer for 1.14 per bottle, I bought 4 boxes that time (48 bottles). Hahahaha.......check best before date -sometime in 2012

There are lots of olive oils at lots of prices. This one is a cheap one. It's not a good one on offer.

Did you read the link above?

Unless you're going to pay for a genuinely good quality oil (i.e. not any supermarket/well known brand) then this will be better than most.

I've been using it for ages, I always laugh inside when I see people paying £4+ for Napolina/Filippo Berio because it's a brand name.

Good deal - I was always under the impression that XVOO should only be used as a salad dressing and not for cooking as it healthy properties are lost when heated.

It's not that much of a discount, but the oil is excellent value - you'd be lucky to find better for four times this price (and I wouldn't fry my onion and garlic in that!)

So as not to overpower the flavour of what you are cooking? Light and mild has it's uses too!

Pity it's not as cheap as they were selling it a couple of months ago, this was a weekend only offer though and was being sold for as little as £1.12.

Heat added all the same, I need to stock up too.
#21
Superb, no Lidl nearby so journey into the next nearest town, but having one built so should be open about autumn time. All we need is M&S and a poundshop to open up and we'll be well sorted..
#22
Didn't this oil win a which? award for being really good quality?

And people that buy napolina stuff are retarded. It's a liverpool based company who package low quality goods in a fancy black packet and charge twice the price of everyone else

It's a very good one actually. I've used it for years and although there is no Lidl near me I will call in when I pass a store just to buy this. It easily beats the more expensive oils in the big supermarkets.

just make sure they are of age --unless your religion is ok with it.

Extra virgin is intended for salads etc, as its better quality than the usual frying olive oil. But at this price, I use it for both
#27
Whilst we're on the subject of Lidl. Their bin liners are worth the trip alone. Much better than anything you can buy elswhere.

Are you going to expand on the first post I quoted?

How many oils have tried? If you're saying that you'll never buy anything else, I assume you're only comparing to supermarket oils.

Is there anything else you can compare it to at this price?
