I agree with BristolDeal. This hardly qualifies for HUKD as it isn't UK based, it's Australia based. Voted cold.

Maybe not "based" in UK but it is available to UK buyers so not much difference for me.
Not many HD-DVDs in stock so not worth buying from these guys in my opinion. You need to order enough without going over 5(or something close) to justify their shipping, it goes up in steps (1 item, 2-5 items, 6+.......example only).

Got some HD-DVDs from them before shipping was only 4-5 days.
It actually works out as 88p as we don't get taxed as the Aussies do. It wouldn't be so bad if they had others for a similar price to bring the postage down a bit but as far as I can see they only have Four Brothers and Star Trek left and they aren't at bargain basement yet (although the star trek box is cheap for what it is). I've ordered from them before and they were pretty reliable.

For the time it will take to get to the UK, you can get it from Asda for less than 40p more - and get Quidco! Voting cold, this isn't a good deal.

Has anyone here seen these in HD-DVD? I’m wondering how well these 40 year old TV shows translate into a high definition format! A wet dream for Trekkies so I vote hot.

Check this out HERE

Taken from that article...
"The High Definition imagery is clear enough to resolve the powder of the actors' makeup, the hairs on Shatner's chest, and the pockmarks of George Takei's bad complexion."

Standard mail, even over 18 quid in value tends to go past customs. Customs tend to concentrate on delivery services. Not a bad deal so far. I expect better in the future, right now a hot price.

Ordered three films last week, the total came to around $30 and I paid via PayPal.
The order was dispatched today, and I received an email from PayPal to say the actual amount charged to my card was just over $60. How can they just double the price without my consent? I've reported it to PayPal as an unauthorised transaction.

They don't include the postage charge initially when you pay through PayPal, they add it on afterwards, that's what's happened. :)

If anybody is still in need of the five Harry Potter films, they are back in stock! Probably need to be quick though!
Ordered 2 titles on night of 23rd, received today....... damn fine if u ask me!!!
Star Trek's back down in price - well worth getting the set for just under £39 delivered. It's HD/DVD combo, by the way, so will work on both HD DVD players and normal DVD players. Costs over £100 over here.

EZYDVD PTY LTD TORRENSVILLE AU Abroad - Overseas Transaction £30.94 DR
65.30 AUD @ 2.110536522
I ordered these from them 3 weeks ago, they arrived Friday. I was charged a total of £30.60 inc postage which is £6.12 each. They marked the package as gift and the value as 25 Aus dollars, which means no import tax. As far as I'm concerned its excellent value when you consider they are still being sold on UK sites for £18 each.
I paid £5.30 odd for mine at the german amazon site, the front covers are in german but the disks obvioulsy have english & the default language setting is English so if you don't study the covers for hours on end, i'd go for the german option. It did take 2/3 weeks to get the disks but thats £26 for the 5 delivered and its an adventure ordering from a german site!!

Haven't voted cold though, you do get the box-set for a few sheckles more which, I normally like to have but these films are more for the kids & Mrs than me so it's not like Battlestar Galactica, Godfather or Bourne trilogy is it which are must have box-sets!!
EZYdvd usually mark everything as $30AUD - £15 - no matter what is in thepackage (I have ordered over 20 discs from them in the last month...
I ordered this from EzyDVD last month when it was $45.30, The shipping costs $22, It shipped 28/3 but still no sign so I'm hoping it's not been held up in customs.

No the stories have not changed at all, they have cleaned it up and enhanced the special effects CG starships and new transporter, phaser and torpedo effects etc.
The Enterprise has never looked so good :)
v2drinkers;1770749
Wow you mean they went and filmed the Original series on film instead of tape (and it survived!) and then just for the HD version created new special effects.

I'm impressed!!!!

Here is some YouTube video which gives you an idea, also I think it was filmed in 18mm and not 35mm as mentioned earlier.:

err yes
v2drinkers;1770249
Pay that price and more than likely customs and vat for a HD version of something that was not filmed in anywhere near high resolution.
Just get the DVD version and you would have it at the highest quality you could get!

Just as unique as such things as dvd's/HD dvd's of such things as 'The A team','The six million dollar man','Porridge' - shall I continue?

Rubbish!! The HD version is far superior to the DVD version because the series was filmed on 35mm film and not videotape. Consequently, the detail is not restricted to NTSC or PAL limits and the new version looks fantastic.

Moreover, the new special effects are much better than the original rather ropey ones.

All in all, a great ad for HD TV.
i'd worry if i bought this from them ... bought heroes (which is on the way) and got charged $20 postage on top ... so that would be a factor to build in ....

You should be fine. It's out of stock for people who want to order it now. I had the same with Syriana...showed as out of stock in my orders pending. I thought that meant I wasn't getting it, so I bought it elsewhere only to get a shipping email a couple of days later.

Maybe it would be worth doing a thread with this and the Harry Potter offer, but making it clear in the title that it's only for customers who have had recent HD-DVD orders cancelled?

IMPORTANT NOTE

Orders for this offer will only be fulfilled if your customer reference number matches one of the affected customers. Haha, nothing like a direct answer, eh?
They've finally responded to my email about combined postage/customs and increased p&p charges on my order:

Dear Valued Customer,
Due to the overwhelming response of our recent HD-DVD release, we havebeen inundated with enquiries which has affected our standard responsetime. In effort to continue providing quality Customer Support, we would liketo ensure customers that HD-DVD orders will be processed and dispatchedby the end of the working week (unless an alternative delivery date hasalready been requested) If this does not satisfy your recent email enquiry or if your email doesnot relate to HD-DVD, please do not hesitate to re-send your emailenquiry and we will endeavour to reply promptly.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Sincerely,
EzyDVD

cheers ezydvd
My two arrived from EZYDVD today. Interesting to note that they automatically mark the package as "Gift" on the customs declaration...and even the value (AUD$30) is pre-printed!
Why don't you just email them and explain the situation?
On another order they said they had no stock of one item cancelled it and shipped just one. A day later they do have stock I have to raise a new order for it which means I have to pay 2 shipping charges totalling more than my single order. I will not be using these plonkers again.

just had heroes shipped ... unfortunately theres a $20 shipping charge ... so its russian roulette time with customs ....
It has been said on another forum that they are serving Australian customers first and people who are ordering now at the higher prices. It also sounds like they are not posting out orders as they are made, i.e. instead of sending out several packages of 2,3 or 4 discs (to avoid customs), they are combining orders and sending them all in the same package :?

All of my orders are slowly going out of stock and/or being cancelled.
On another order they said they had no stock of one item cancelled it and shipped just one. Now they do have stock I have to raise a new order for it which means I have to pay 2 shipping charges.
Just been told Dirty Dozen now deleted and i have to check my order
they have done the same to me - and charged more postage for the priviledge!

Idiots!

I assume you have hooked two HDTVs of similar spec side by side and ran the material through the same type of player to make an accurate assessment. I've ran 1080p rips then ran the original blu rays one after the other and could see marginal differences, I would hardly say it was easily noticable.
It depends on the rip and also how much you are looking for flaws in the rip. A lot of people say the difference between 1080p and 720p is a country mile while others say they can't tell.
Is the difference worth the cost of the retail disc against not paying? For most people who don't mind acquiring movies for nothing you can't say there is a £20 difference, unless you're particular about audio but that's a whole different story.

Yes you got a point for getting it free but now you will lose your internet eventually from doing so. Government has forced ISP to check on everyone for illegal activities and its 3 strikes and banned from the internet. Also virgin bt and some other companies are selling off customer data(what they are viewing etc) to another company so your most likely to be caught their too.
GOPAL89;1655244
if you compare the rips to the actual HD disc side by side, you can easily tell the differance.

Myth.if you think about it, the old br players(only support 1.1) so in theory these will have the same life span xD.

Fact: 1.1 blu ray players will be able to play the movie itself but may not be able to access some of the extras.

So no, no they will not have the same lifespan as you will be able to watch future releases on the blu-ray player, which we know will not be the case for the loser of the format war.

Yeh i know its a pain to people who bought in early
master_chief;1653059
Last few blu ray films I checked didn't peak above 25mb/s bitrate, most hover around the 15-20mb/s rate.
The rips you talk about can have bit rates ranging from low 5mb/s up to 15mb/s. The important thing to remember is the codec used in these rips is actually far more efficient then the two used in legitimate copies, therefore the difference is quite negligible but that depends on how well the originals were ripped.

if you compare the rips to the actual HD disc side by side, you can easily tell the differance.
