My first post....

Just ordered the iPhone 3GS 16GB (i know the 4G will be available in august but not for the three network)

Spoke to a three sales guy and he has given me:

200 mins any network any time per month
unlimited texts (upto 3,800 fair use) per month
unlimited internet (now increased from 1gb to 2gb fair use) per month
2,000 mins to ring any three mobile per month
unlimited use of messenger, skype, email etc (this isnt included in the 2gb fair use allowance)

and the phone for a one off cost of £59 (normally £79 but i told him i was a mobile broadband three contract holder so eventually gave me £20 credit)

I am indeed in shock! but delighted, i have the 3G so ill be selling that and using my new 3GS

p&p was £1.95 and i get it tomorrow :)

forgot to ask if i was getting white or black & forgot to visit the online e-sales person where you can get a £20 voucher for accessories (not really worth it though, accessories are pants and they cost full whack)

If true, this may just swing me to an iphone and a 24month contract, didn't really want a 2yr contract but for £15 a month, can't complain!

I guess you rung them up? What phone number you used?
#2
Hi,

I am guessing this is for exisiting customer only?
#3
How much is the tariff?

Wouldn't that be the £15 for 24 months part?

It would get you:
200 mins any network any time
unlimited texts (upto 3,600 fair use per month)
unlimited internet (now invreased from 1gb to 2gb fair use per month)
2,000 mins to ring any three mobile
unlimited use of messenger, skype, email etc (this isnt included in the 2gb fair use allowance)

Good deal, but I assume it's phone call only and a bit of a haggle. However, definitely worth it. Have some heat.
#6
just called them and thay said they dont have this phone yet!!
#7
Maybe worth a trip to my local Three shop
#8
good deal IF it can be had!

will hold off voting until others can confirm
#9
Would be interested to see if the 3 shops are offering this deal, can anyone confirm? I might buy the wife one.
#10
Just rang:

For current customers, they can get them if they are offered it.

NOT for new customers.
#11
I can confirm they have the phone, I went to end my contract with them 2 weeks ago and they asked why and i said i wanted the iphone which I didn't think they had and they came out with "oh we do but but only to exclusive customers and you are one them" the deal they gave me was not the same it was £30 a mnt over 18 mnths but i still didn't take it cause of lack in cross network mins.
#12
Its an interesting deal - hot if can be had. Word to the wise however, the new iPhone will be announced on 7th June and will likely be released shortly after that, i.e. end of June, early July (not August).

Not just this but as soon as it is announced I am sure you will regret signing up 2 weeks before for 2 years with the old model - even at £15 p/m. That is if you are not clued up with ebay in which you could sell the sealed 16GB model today for £380 and buy the new one (it is believed or at least it has been for the past 2 years on release) for £440 PAYG - and pop your sim in.

Such an idea will require the phone unlocking to be used with 3 mobile however most probably.

Hot from me all the same.
#13
Well done OP but it'll only be offered to certain customers and you're lucky to speak to the right person who happens to be in a good mood etc.
#14
have spoken to customer services on the phone. Yes they have it & no i can't upgrade even though i have two mobiles & two broadband accounts with them...seems i'm not good enough maybe its time to leave
#15
pick up a free sim from the local shop, register (free £2 credit) or top up £10.... you have become an existing customer, ring them and tell them you want a iphone. or ring from your broadband dongle number (stick it in a phone)

oh i didnt really haggle by the way, they dont tend to give too much away. the set price was as stated above but i got £20 off (one off fee of £79 but gave me £20 credit) but that was due to me having a mobile broadband deal with them.

I disagree - the new model will be quite expensive, not available immediately on 3 and a jailbreak/unlock might be far off. The 4G won't add much to the 3G S that can't be added by means of an update to the OS via itunes.
#17
just meant it would be readily available in august :) the chances of getting one before in july are ok but not great (similar id expect to last years release) those getting the original 2g 24 months or so ago will be ready for an upgrade.... itll be tough to get one :)

i rang up last week and they offered me an x10 but i told them i hhad an iphone so maybe thats why they didnt offer me it that time.

i have the iphone 3g now, which is manufacture unlocked... so i can sell that on ebay for £400 (i checked for those that were locked to three and they were only 4 and priced highly)

forgot to mention, this was my first post :)

will upload a pic tomorrow when it arrives :D

That's cool that you disagree. If you are not bothered about having the latest tech then yes I would agree to the extent that the changes will not be mind blowing with the latest edition.

That being said, the newest iPhone will have some significant changes - not just the inevitable faster chip set (which when you compare the 3G to the 3GS, the phone seems much quicker - and will be the same here no doubt) but also such things as a near HD screen, front facing camera and a totally new form (if you have seen the leaked photos!).

I suppose it is where you place the neccesity to have the newest iPhone - but as I say, to me I think a lot of people will regret signing up to a phone that will be outdated in 2 weeks - if you stuck with the contract you would be 2 generations out of date this time next year (presuming Apple continues the trend of releasing a new model each year).

P.S - the jailbreak/unlock took less than 2 weeks last year. The iPad is already jailbroken. This is a non-issue again IMO for people who are thinking of going down this route.

all iphone contract deals are for 24 months and if its good enough back when the 2g and 3g came out, then its good enough for me for the 3gs. I understand whats been said though, july 2012 is possibly yet another handset that could be coming out in that time.

so where as im tied to a 24 month contract of £15 a month, im not tied to 24 months of the same technology.
im on my 1st iPhone contract, but on my 2nd iPhone handset. contracts dont limit what handset i use

what no. did you call? I Phoned 333 twice, spoke to 2 diff people both said not available.
#21
The 3 reception for me was awful I had to leave their network even that I think they have the best deal around for what I wanted.

| did try to get an Iphone before leaving but had no luck (I was a PAYG user though)
#22
rang 333 but you can call 3 customer services on another number from other mobiles but it will charge you for the call.

its definitely available, i and others have ordered one (will upload pic tomorrow)

did two different people say you couldnt get one? i wasnt a special customer or anything, i was offered one straight away, only been with them for 17months.
#23
you should update this to state it's for existing customers only.

Strange I have just rang 333 and I told them I had been offered a deal by another company and I was looking to transfer my number at the end of my contract, I told them I had been offered a Iphone at £79 and £15 a month and they offered me this exact deal...

I think they are looking to shift the current iPhones as the new iPhone 4g comes out in July...
#27
i jsut called and they ahve only offers me a £30 contract for 24 months plus £99 for the phone.

will check with cancellations as i am out of contract since 2009
#28
i never asked for the iphone, i wasnt aware they had any. the sales guy just offered me the iphone, i just sounded negative (dismissive, like the iphone but dont want to go on a 24 months contract), he sympathised and offered me that, or exactly same with 500mins for £35 a month (think the one off was free or £129) .... it was then i realised how good a deal it was. told him i was a mobile broadband 3 user too (contract) and he spoke to his manager and i got £20 credit if i accepted. so i didnt hesitate :) i forgot to ask for a white one though .... doh!!
#29
I'm a mobile broadband customer on 3..can they "convert" this contract to an iphone contract ?

I know what you're saying and agree that it depends on priorities. If you want the latest tech right away and can afford it then you're better off waiting until next month or so. But for most, the changes are largely cosmetic. The front facing camera and improved screen don't bother most and the real improvements are to be found in the faster chip and OS.

I wish I could afford new phones as soon as they come out but this deal seems okay as the OP says you can always sell the phone in a year's time and get the 4G then when it'll be much cheaper.

I called to cancel, I was on the £10 glitch 18 month contract, which I had upgraded a couple of times to get more minutes. At the end was paying £15 a month for 300 mins & u/l texts, 2000 3to3 mins.

Was offered the following which I accepted (Internet Talker 500)

Free Iphone 3gs 16gb 2yrs warranty
500 minutes x-network
Unlimited text's
Unlimited internet
Unlimited 3 to 3 calls
Free voicemail
Twitter, Skype & Messanger

£15 a month for 24 months (total cost £360).

Sold Iphone on Ebay and after all fees got £400 in my account. I must just add if anyone sells their mobile on Ebay sell on Buy it now (with immediate payment, stops wasters) and not Auction as the final sellers fee was £10.02 instead of £40 (This was on a £425 price)!
#32
The deal I was offered was £23 a month (Which is what I pay at the moment), with 700 minutes and texts + unlimited internet and a 2 year warranty on the phone and they wanted £79 for the phone...

Unfortunatly my contract is not up until October so they could not send me the phone until the 5th July, by which time the 4g prices will be out so I will wait until then...
#33
Definitely not available for PayG customers
#34
You'll get the phone for free if you haggle. Got one 3 days ago

haggle, haggle, haggle

This is a great deal, the 3GS with OS4.0 will be absolutely fine for the majority of people. The 4G will probably also have you tied in to a £30+ p/m contract and likely a fee for the handset - if you can live without a front facing camera (I sure can) then the 3GS will do everything you need. Also, I imagine next years iPhone will be a 4GS like, with a full refresh being done in two years, if past showings is anything to go by...so just in time for when these contracts end!

I personally just got the HTC Desire on a 18 mth contract with T-Mobile (previously had the 3G), sold the phone on eBay and bought a new 3GS for the same amount - just an idea...

Got thru to cancellations...they were having non of it said i was off to vodafone with two accounts they didnt seem bothered..will just have to wait or payup & leave i guess
