Interesting.... I've got some old 200Mbps Comtrend ones at the moment with pass through and they're rubbish getting lower transfer rate than my wireless signal in parts of the house... I was looking at the solwise as it does indeed seem to be the only high speed version with pass through...
I almost got the ebuyer ones the other day but I needed a pass through plug so I had a 3 pin socket on the home plug. Ended up getting the 500mbps solwise model, I was skeptical as I had not heard of the brand and they were about half price compared to the Netgear alternatives however they work flawlessly and I have full 1080p movies streaming around my house. They have actually outperformed the Netgear plugs in benchmark tests so I recommend Solwise. The buyer ones look like they may be rebranded edimax, another good brand.
Not sure if they're any better but ebuyer has some 1000Mbps ones for £44.98 (ex del) at the mo...

Absolutely fabulous. I use Homeplugs in a large Edwardian house where WiFi isn't feasible. Neither WiFi or Homeplug are as fast as LAN cable (because every bit of data transmitted has to be labeled) but if you can't run LAN cable then Homeplug is ideal. However remember the quoted rate (ie 200 mbps) isn't the transmission rate it's the signaling rate. Also remember that these quote bps whereas we look at bytes when considering file size, so divide by 20 gives you a realistic file transfer rate of 10 Mbytes/sec. One final point LAN interfaces only operate at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps so normally your router would limit you to 100 Mbps because it's own rate will be set at this.
Wish i knew about homeplugs sooner, great invention if your computer's in a different room to your router

have used home plug for 4 yrs. Brilliant, just forget wireless, these are so much better. Pair up with a wireless router and you cover your mobile phone too.

same here...fewer dropouts and whilst slightly slower it much more stable

These are pretty much the same price now, so probably worth a reminder.
Can anyone explain the difference between the white and black 85mbps, which seem to be significantly differently priced (25% or so) but to be identical, other than that the black ones come with a 1.8m ethernet lead, whereas the leads with the white ones are only 1m ??
Any further reports on how they work in practice ?

It arrived quickly & well packaged so I would say they are reliable.

Hmm...prices do seem competitive!!! so HOT!!!

Can you tell me which courier did they use with their Std Delivery at £4.95? Or is it just Royal Mail???

Many thanks in advance. :)

Would this work for me?

We have two fuses boxes now as we have an extension to the house.

One fuse box is connected to the other.

I need to use a socket connected to one fuse box and another socket connected to another other fuse box.

I think using this would be fine in a standard web-surfing, office user computer, though I wouldn't trust them on using this for hardcore gaming. Cheap PSU's say "600W" when they can barely get to 200W under stress before dying. Anything less than £40 and 430W should be avoided. Seasonic, Antec, Enermax Liberty, Fortron (FSP Group), OCZ, PC Power & Cooling, Silverstone Tagan, Cooler Master, Enermax, Thermaltake, Corsair are the brands to be looking at.
Echoing what Tickedon said, the PSU is one area you really don't want to skimp on, if building your own PC. If it goes, it tends to take most of the PC with it, so spend £40+ on a decent named PSU and safeguard your investment.
Had one of these in a PC for a couple of years and then it failed. IMHO you'd be better with paying slightly more for a better brand, no point risking your system with a cheap PSU.
