Bought these for £land for £6 a few months back. Good value but doesn't clean as well as the Platinum ones. Our dishwasher is old so maybe other people will get better results than we do.

Are these all in one jobbies? Nice price at just under 10.5 pence each.

Don't mention that to the missus, this is one tech upgrade I have little interest for! :) Think it will be cheaper to stick with platinum for full loads and these ultras for smaller loads!

you can sort your dishwasher out with a decent spring clean - take all the inside bits apart and scrub clean, with careful attention to holes - free them up with vinegar if a bit calcified

then use a decent cleaner such as http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=255279285&gclid=COXWgvGWwc8CFQ0o0wodTg8JCA&gclsrc=aw.ds on hottest cycle

then make sure your tab release mechanism is working properly - if not, many people chuck in a tab instead at the start - this is always bad timing - the dishwasher will give best results if you let it start, wait a few minutes then chuck in the tab - trial and error but my ancient dishwasher works best if (on the hottest cycle) I chuck in the tab after 20 mins - I time it on the oven timer

Is this the 'Everything is £1' Poundland that now has lots of 'specials' that are over a pound? I wonder what they would say or do if you demanded they honour their signage.

That tag line & signage hasn't been used by the company for around 2-3 years now; they now use amazing value everyday signage. My suggestion is you do more research into these matters before making such facetious posts.

Best Buy but does it clean the dishes properly

Yes. That's the basis of the Best buy rating. From their website:

How we test dishwasher detergents

We use a range of foods and drinks in our dishwasher tablet tests to represent the different types of residue you’d expect to wash off in the dishwasher. But to put dishwasher tablets through their paces, we use some of the toughest foods we can find:

Tea – a bleachable stain, so we use it to test how effectively detergents remove coloured stains
Starch – starchy marks show how well a detergent can clean residue from pasta, rice and potatoes
Egg-yolk – dried-on, this stain tests how well detergents wash off protein-rich foods, including meat
Dried-on milk – this is really tough to shift, so we use it to give a good indication of overall cleaning power

In our lab we use cups, glasses, plates and baking sheets covered in carefully measured amounts of these substances. After washing them at 50°C we measure how much residue remains.
