no cover, what you see is what you get. realistically there would be no other way to make this thing so small.

i have no concerns about the contacts themselves, but if you look hard there are traces visible below the surface of the black part, so a bad scratch could potentially put this thing out of operation. obviously i'm not going to see exactly how bad a scratch will cause damage, but it looks to be adequately protected.

That is AWESOME!

thanks, great price, just ordered. heat added
#11
Voted Hot, V good price for one of these despite no cover for the contacts.
Sorely tempted.
#12
These look to be around the same physical size and style as the PNY offer a couple of weeks ago. They work fine, but I can't help thinking that they're so small it'd be very easy to lose them.

these are the kingston picked it up from a friend for a fiver

Remember you get 12 months warranty with cex as well so if the contacts fail you can get your cash back but obviously not your files.

Did he have any more, or are you just bragging? :p

The 64gb version is £55 at cex for anyone looking for more space btw
#17
Yes does he have more?
A fiver for that Kingston usb flash drive, really? Do they not realise the price of this item?
#18
At 3mb/s write speed it would take nearly 3 hours to fill one of these!!

Good price for a 32gb flash drive, but I think ill pass - prefer higher transfer rates....

Bought one these a while back and the problem is getting the computer to read the drive as they are so slim. The usb sockets on my computer are a bit like women, they get a little loose with age!! I have to use the socket round the back as that is a little tighter! :whistling:

Perhaps it's not the socket that's loose but the adapter that's shrunk..with age of course:whistling:

64gb in such a small form factor... amazing. I just thrown out a hard drive from a very old PC of mine and that was only 10GBs, how times have changed.
#23
Certainly the best price i have heard of (considering memory size). My last laptop only had a 30gb hard drive!!

Voted HOT,

When you say 'picked up from a friend' do you mean smack over the back of the head, grabbed and ran ;-)
#25
Just to let you guys know, There is no guarantee you'll get a slim one. I work for CEX and we buy all 32GB flash drives under the same code, regardless of make/model/size. Unless you physically see it in store, you could end up with a standard size 32GB flash drive.
#26
really only 3mbs write speed? ouch!

Friend got one of those off ebay (64gb as well) for £20. £5 is a steal.
#28
To anyone who has bought a 64GB drive for a 'steal', i would check the drive by filling it with 64GB of data and verifying that the files are readable. Fake drives are rife, especially on ebay.
#29
Indeed, I was told about some huge memory sticks in China, I laughed them off, then they went into My Computer and showed me the free space. Man, I was convinced. :P Then laughed a lot more.
#30
Yes, the firmware on a smaller capacity drive can be modified so that it shows 64GB free space in 'My Computer'
#31
do a search for CheckCap program, it will test the pen drive if its real memory inside it.

not as good as the ultimate usb drive ... the iomega 320Gb portable is only a few quid more and has more than 10 TIMES the capacity

Ummm - that's a hard disk drive. Do you really not understand the difference? :? (Besides which, you can get them in at least 500GB size now, and 320GB is not "more than 10 times" 32GB.)

You pop along and get yourself a hard drive, for the rest of us we will continue discussing a usb flash drive.

How on earth can they get 16gig on a micro sd?
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=106075
30 years back I needed 2 eurocards (about 6" x 4") to get 64K
How can they possibly test these things ?
#37
dunno why these are so highly rated....look poorly made and no cover come on,- is this the asda smart price of usb's...think id rather pay a little extra for decent quality thanks
bet these cost 10p to make in china

probably so highly rated because the cheapest 32GB USB drive at this size costs more than twice as much.

http://www.techgadgets.in/images/super-talent-pico-usb.jpg

some of the pico drives have covers, but i haven't seen a 32GB version on sale in the UK. perhaps that finish is worth the extra £40 to you, but i imagine most people don't have £70 to spend on a USB flash drive. i know i don't.
#39
i bought a 8GB version of these micro usb drives for £10 brand new from CEX in huddersfield. which is also a pretty hot offer
#40
The reason why these are so cheap is because CeX are sold so many faulty or fake flash drives bought from ebay that are disguised as 32gb, but are really 2 or 4GB chips. You can buy these for £10-£16. A year or two ago, I bought a 2GB flash drive hacked to look like a 8GB drive for $14 and after I experienced problems with files becoming corrupted, I contacted the Hong Kong seller for a refund. I got a $2 refund, so I thought I'd take it to CeX to see if they'd take it. Their test was to copy a 1MB PDF file to it and then back again . It worked, so I got £8 for it.

Everyone who buys these, try copying large files that total 32GB and see if you can copy them all off in tact.

See here if you don't believe me: http://www.oblife.com/internet/2007-11-13/fake-usb-flash-drives/

PS-Sorry aman00777 if you bought my faulty drive!
