Vault 101 - Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.

•Includes Fallout 3 and five expansion packs: Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta.
•Limitless Freedom: Take in the sights and sounds of the vast Capital Wasteland! See the great monuments of the United States lying in post-apocalyptic ruin! You make the choices that define you and change the world. Just keep an eye on your Rad Meter!
•Experience SPECIAL: Vault-Tec engineers bring you the latest in human ability simulation - the SPECIAL Character System! Utilising new breakthroughs in points-based ability representation, SPECIAL affords unlimited customisation of your character. Also included are dozens of unique skills and perks to choose from, each with a dazzling variety of effects!
•The Power of Choice: Feeling like a dastardly villain today, or a good samaritan? Pick a side or walk the line, as every situation can be dealt with in many different ways. Talk out your problems in a civilised fashion, or just flash your Plasma Rifle.
•Blast 'Em Away With V.A.T.S.: Even the odds in combat with the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System for your Pip-Boy Model 3000! V.A.T.S. allows you to pause time in combat, target specific body parts on your target, queue up attacks, and let Vault-Tec take out your aggression for you. Rain death and destruction in an all-new cinematic presentation.
•Mind-Blowing Artificial Intelligence: At Vault-Tec, we realise that the key to reviving civilisation after a global nuclear war is people. Our best minds pooled their efforts to produce an advanced version of Radiant A.I., America's First Choice in Human Interaction Simulation. Facial expressions, gestures, unique dialog, and lifelike behavior are brought together with stunning results by the latest in Vault-Tec technology.

Been toying to get this again after I never finished it on the PC. Not sure how soon I'll start it but for this price, new, with all the DLC I can't see a solid reason not to get it. Plus will be a while before I get Fallout Vegas, especially the rate they will no doubt bang out the DLC for that then release a GOTY!
#2
You sir are a God, been looking for the GOTY edition as I wanted the dlc and didn't want to fork out the amount of points M$ were asking for even with their recent reduction on all fallout 3 dlc (which still amounted up to a ridiculous price)
At this price it would be ridiculous not to purchase it! Cheers OP! Heat Added!

Just ordered this. I completed the original which I really enjoyed - then goit shut of it while it was still worth a few quid as a trade-in. Missed out on all the DLC (which was steep at the price anyway). Been waiting ages for the GOTY edition to come down in price. Can't see it being much cheaper than this for a long while. Cracking value. Now, just got to crack on with Bioshock 2 before starting on Fallout 3. Games hav e never been cheaper have they?:)

Would definitely get this rather than new vegas if you've not played before, they're both very similar games and you'd get more out of the story in the new game if you play this first. Plus by the time you finish this (easily 40-50 hours to properly explore the whole of DC) then the new game will have come way down in price.

PS if you have fallout 3 and are getting this just for the DLC then give zeta a miss or at least leave it till last - weakest of all the new content by far imho.

From buying on launch and then trading it in against the GOTY edition I've spent about £55 of this game and at that price it was well worth it, so for £15 everybody needs to pick this up.

Great price heat added, i paid £20 for this in asda 2weeks ago and already put 57hours into it and have all the achievements but still loads of things to see after that.

Heat added!
great deal even for the dlc only :)

Thanks for what sounds like an excellent tip!;)

FFS! I just bought this on ebay yesterday for £20 lol

All hail the Overseer.

Ps3 version is another gimped port from the pc / 360 like most multi platform games. Lower frame rate, textures dont look as good and full of graphical and gameplay glitches. Google it and see for yourself.

Amazing game one of the best of all time and a great price considering there is over 150 hours gameplay in this with the addons.

They've announced the DLC as exclusive to the 360, but they said that last time, must be a 6 month timed.
Maybe free on PC?

I think if my laptop can run it then I would like to try the PC version. I ran the 'can I run this?' test online and it seemed OK.

My laptop can run Crysis on high settings if that helps. The problem with a PC game though is that if you buy it and then it won't run, you're kind of stuck with it.

Looks like Sony took an objection to that book on the table for some reason.

There are a lot of reasons to own a ps3 these days, but really regardless of what a few stills look like, this game is NOT one of them, it is inferior to the xbox version.

best of the bunch as usual in these types of games is PC, but the ps3 of is bugged, and still bugged in the GOTY.

if you only have both consoles, this is one for xbox. if you have a good enough pc, get for that.
(As i said its not a bash at the console, more the people who made the port, some games are better on ps3 than xbox just not this one)

PS hot deal, esp as it meant i could get it 2nd hand for 10 quid using this thread as my valuing factor ;)

PPS those links are for New Vegas are they not? (ie NOT this game) but i would say on fallout Vegas, the lighting and antiailising looks better on xbox, BUT the texures look a little better on the ps3.

would need to see it in motion before i would decide which was better.

If I get the PC version of New Vegas then can I play it with the wired 360 controller.

I ended up resorting back to the controller last night when I was playing L4D on Steam. I've been away from the mouse and keyboard for too long to go back now I think. :)

from the reviews i've read there's a lot of bugs in both versions of the game, still using the Oblivion engine from 2006, even for New Vegas.
Yeah you're right bigmike, New Vegas shots above...
I think the Xbox version looks too dark in the LoT shots, but that might be personal preference, textures better on PS3, but i've heard the AA is better on 360.
Need to see it in motion for the tearing and whatnot.

Why would you unsubscribe?

I don't think the PS3 can do AA all that well, although the water effects it can produce are incredible.

The PS2 couldn't do AA at all, despite the fact that the Dreamcast could.

the ps3 gpu is based on the old nvidia 7800 series which could not do AA & HDR lighting at the same time (The ATI gpu in the xbox can). IF the game is made properly for the ps3 it is ok, as one of the cores of the ps3 can do it. if however they port from pc or xbox, then generally AA suffers.

That makes sense, hence the frequently crap multiplatform ports for the PS3 and why a lot of developers hate working with it as a platform.

It is not expired yet, however they now mention a delivery time of 1-2 month

I believe the deal has now expired, appearing at £22.29 for me now, glad I managed to get a copy before though! Still a decent price if you had never played or owned Fallout 3 though!

I've got a ps3 and a 360 so i don't buy into the whole fanboy console war thing, went for Fallout 3 on the xbox cos i heard the ps3 version is so buggy its damn near unplayable. So far its one of the best games i've ever played and i've clocked up over 160 hours gameplay though even the 360 version has its fair share of glitches.

Main page is still showing £22.29 but under wish-list box and on the 'get new for £xx' link below, you can still add it to your basket for £14.99. I can't comment on the delivery time though - thought worth mentioning for anyone wanting to take a risk if still interested.

Textures look a little higher res on PS3 but the 360 has a lot less jaggies (look at the pen on the table) X)
And the colours look more natural on the 360 screens
