This game is great. I am playing it through just now on xbox 360. Graphics are dated as is the game but I am loving every moment of it.
To help put things into perspective, I've played around 117 hours and still haven't completed it yet. I'm still discovering plenty of new locations, unique weapons, apparel and items etc, I still have 3 of the DLC to work through and have about 4 main quests to do as well as some of the side quests and have 4 or 5 bobble heads still to find. I might snap it up for the PC to play through it again but with a few mods that look quite good.

I fancy getting Fallout New Vegas and can't wait for fallout 4 rumoured to be based around Boston

Have some heat.

does it work on windows 8.1 ?

not according to this thread http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2811107

I played on 7 without problems, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Like with most of these things, a workaround is usually available if you run into problems by just googling the error message

Worked fine for me.

It gave me some crap about .NET version 3 when I installed it (have 4.5.1 installed) and it crashes when I open Fallout now. No problems at all with New Vegas though *shrug* will have to go and read some other forums.
#13
Im wondering if its worth buying this now at this price, ready for my pc which I'm hoping to have within a month or is there a high possibility it will cheap/cheaper again in the near future?

It says that on the Steam page, but that's a steaming pile of bull-poop in fairness... It'll work fine on Windows 7 (with a bit of tweaking needed naturally, but that's all par for the course with a Bethesda game on PC!)

I wish I could forget the 200 hours or so I put into this and New Vegas and experience it all over again like it was the first time :(

Unfortunately I can't. So it looks like I'm going to have to wait for Fallout 4, should that ever happen...

Hot!

Apparently you can tweak some .ini file to only use a couple of cores/threads to make the game more stable and run on windows 7. Do a Google and I'm sure you will find the relevant article. I of course may be wrong so YMMV.
#19
Bit odd, tried some of the fixes recommended on other forums like, like turning .NET 3.5.1 off and changing the threads in the .ini file. None of those helped. Turns out it doesn't crash if I run it in windowed mode rather than full screen. Must just be me!

I played this game on xbox without the DLC, I wanted to buy for PC to play only the DLC, is there such thing as a character creator so I can go through only the DLC with a more apt character, instead of starting from scratch?

Thanks
#21
IS there a way of doing a test to know if it'll run on your PC?

I'm not sure whether you can start all the DLCs in F3 from the very start like you can do in New Vegas but if that's possible you could cheat: raise your XP & give yourself the equipment and caps.

Was going to send this to someone else and realised price has gone up to £5.99 already! Must have been popular.
#25
It DOES work on windows

New Vegas Ultimate Collection is now on offer.

It DOES work on windows 7 BUT it DOESNT work on a QUAD CORE CPU!!! None if the work arounds work at all i have a quad core i7 macbook bootcamped to win 7 and had it only using 1 core and still crashes after ten minutes even disabled auto saves etc really disappointed this is still available to but as not many people use dual or single cores for games any more and it should have had a proper patch by now from developers but as usual all they want is sales ( i will get off my soap box now!)

HUKD. HUKD never changes.

the same thing happened to me mate, lifelong console gamer then i crumbled about three weeks ago and dropped £1700 on a pretty beasty rig. dont regret it at all. i already have 50 games in my steam library which have probably cost me about £150 in total.

Seeing 360/ps3 games maxed out at 1080p/60fps is really nice, especially considering you can just use 360/xb1 controller. plus there's the emulators, retro games with the filters found in todays emulators look incredible, even on a big tv.

I'm completely converted and my ps4/xb1 have been relegated to exclusives. If you're serious about games and thinking about a PC i can assure you will ask yourself why you didnt take the plunge earlier

PC's are a big outlay up front but everything else is sooo much cheaper. Like you say, using an xbox pad gives you the console vibe but with better visuals.
The thought of being able to download mods is awesome. I can't imagine what people will come up with for games like GTAV.

Trouble is, I just don't know where to look for a good deal as HUKD is no help at all. No one can agree lol.

I'm glad this game is on offer half the year round, it really is a must-play. Getting a bit bored of seeing it on HUKD every day, but hey ho. Not really an issue lol

yer there was just a new GTA 4 graphics mod released and it looks really good. i got my comp from https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ picked the parts (got a gtx 780 ti and an i7 4790k) and let them build it. sure it cost me more than shopping around for the parts and building it myself, but at least i know it works, comes with various warranties and have technical support if you need it.

if you like emulation get a fast processor, i got one of the best and its so cool to play mario galaxy 2 in 1080p full speed with the wii remote on it!

People can keep saying all they want about this works on Windows 7 that is usually only the case if it's 32bit version and your running old hardware mostly systems that are dual core or less plus graphics cards with only 512 ram max plus clearly less then 4gb ram.

So anymore that has a good system don't waste your money it wont work
