Been to my Local store today (Newmains) and they had the 50cl bottles of Famous Grouse for £7.00 which is 4p more than the half bottle.

Now confirmed Nationwide, however the 50cl bottle.

Incidentally it was a different style of bottle than it normally is as this one looked like a clear Baileys bottle.

I saw this on Wednesday and forgot to post it. They had loads (Govan) and it was cheaper than the own brand for Grouse!
#3
Don't like the stuff, but that's a great price.
#4
Great price!
#5
Awful whisky, great price!
#6
Hot deal HORRIBLE drink though, i not going to tarnish the type of drink by naming it on this thread lol
#7
Kafternoon unsterbale i havent been thoinking
#8
Had Famous Grouse and Smirnoff in my local store for £7 - but it was for 50cl
#9
It's not awful at all. It's one of the best blended whiskies. Great deal.
#10
Shame they didnt have that promotion last weeks for Burns Night
I hate whisky btw :o)
#11
this is a 500ml but still good price
#12
My maths is terrible, but I think I have got this right . . .

If it's £7 for 70cl, that is the equivalent of £10 a litre.

If so, that is a really great price.

Please can some clever person confirm my maths? :)

(And yes, Grouse is acknowledged to be one of the finest blended whiskies. Ignore the knockers on this thread!)
#13
If they've this offer on near me I'll buy the lot!!!!

It is THE best blended whiskey and value for money:)

If the bottles only contain 500ml, then it costs £14 a litre then. :)
#16
it's 50cl remember seeing the price in a newspaper ad, and thinking "wow" til I saw the bottle size
#17
Thanks OP, voted hot, and Newmains is my Local Asda as I come from Camby!
#18
This is not hot, price is £7 for 50cl -
#19
So if it's £7 for 50cl - that's equivalent of

£9.80 / 70cl bottle - change thread title if so
£14 / litre

In any case - it's a good price to drink to., I though the VAT69 at £10 was good at Netto - this is excellent

As a big whisky drinker - the best whisky is the one you like best - try as many as you can get your hands on. and decide what you like best. Ignore the words of the snobs who only drink single malts - because they are single malts - thats a crp reason. I have a 22 year vatted malt belnd from Springbank, and as far as I am concerned it's gonna be better than anything. - cost me over£100. Anyway - Grouse at this price - certainly worth a few bottles to get through the oncoming snow
#20
so - not hot - where can you get Grouse for <£10??????? Let me know
#21
Once you're used to single malt it's hard to go back to blended.

Agree 100% but might be tempted for a cards night with mates at this price.
#23
Guys, I was sure it was 70cl, but even if it is 50cl it is still hot, 1L is £20 normally.

I will correct once it has def been confirmed if 50.

tbh, this brand never has been £20/litre. SImply because it is not worth it. If the £7 is for 50cl, then it is a ok deal. Not a great deal. No heat but rep added for the effort.

strip poker ?

Just the right size for a brown paper bag in the bus shelter.

A couple of hours of beggin' or half a dozen big issue sales and the deal's yours.

Good old Asda for finding a way of keeping the local winos warm during this cold snap!
#29
I am sure I seen this in ASDA today and it was for the 50cl bottle

Yer maths is spot on mate!

Thanks, WyseGuy. But it seems now that it is only 50cl, so not such a great deal.

Ah well, back to the meths.

Appears to be a penny more, per litre, than last year in Somerfield..
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/145428/the-famous-grouse-finest-scotch-whi/

But, three months ago, Morrisons were selling it for £11 per litre.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/265913/smirnoff-famous-grouse-1ltr-11-morr/

and that deal only made 259 degrees!! :w00t:
#34
Cheapest I have seen this on offer has been £9 in the past. So I would definitely recommend buying for £7!! Hot.

#36
£7 for 500ml is stil a good deal guys. Will pick some up on my next shop if its still available
#37
has any one been today to check if it is the 70cl or 50cl?
#38
Guys as I mentioned earlier if it is the 50cl bottle its still a hot deal, the 35cl bottle was £6.96 in Asda !
#39
With all this snow, I need something to warm me up like :)
#40
My local Sainsbury had loads of the 70cl bottles with a film covering to make it look festive. snow flakes etc
Will be appropriate for the current weather but I've been waiting for the price to come down since Christmas.
I'll check and report back
