Home and car insurance cashbacks have been exploding on cashback sites and if you havent taken advantage of this yet (and its time for your renewal) get on it! You can get a policy for up to a month in advance so if you are due for renewal in the next month you can start checking out your options now.

The most spectacular jump has to be Barclays Home Insurance which is now up to a record £125 per policy taken out. Thats the largest home insurance cashback we have seen yet.

Zurich Home and Car Insurance is aiming to get in the game with aggressive policy pricing and by raising their Quidco cashback rate to £80. A big plus on Zurich is their fantastic tracking record especially when we compare to Barclays and Lloyds. Also they have one of the fastest cashback payout speeds to Quidco members with a one month average.

Lastly, we should give notice to Prudential Insurance who havent upped their rate but at a steady £100 cashback and super-competitive quotes have been very popular with Quidco members over the last few months. Again a big plus here is their almost perfect tracking record and reasonably quick payment speed.

So when it comes time to renew your home or car insurance dont forget to check out what Quidco merchants are offering as it very well could make it the cheapest insurance youve ever had!

Prudential raised from £100 to £130.March 07.

Zurich are not appearing at the moment on Quidco,
However Churchill have upped to a decent £60 and they are very competetive with their quotes.
- bazr

Churchill have upped their cashback from £60 to £100 for June08 only.
- bazr

Just to clarify that the Churchill £100 June cashback is for Car insurance only. Home insurance cashback is £60.
Likewise the Pru £100 cashback is for car insurance only. Home insurance policy cashback is £75
- Robbo11

For anybody taking out car insurance it is worth noting that Prudential are giving car breakdown cover free with their policies.

Does anyone know whether it is important to put an earnings enquiry in to Quidco within 6 weeks for Lloyds TSB home insurance, even if it has tracked.

I ask because of the note that Quidco have applied at the point where you follow the link to earn cashback. The note says that TSB will not accept earnings enquiries after 2 months and Quidco cannot chase up after 6 weeks. As you all know with Quidco it can take many weeks for a status to change from tracked to verified and then to paid.

What should I do? wait and see like always or put an earnings enquiry in just in case it never changes to verified? To be clear Quidco tracked my transaction immedietly and all is looking normal so far, nothing has gone wrong yet but I am troubled by the deadline statement and I don't want to risk forfiting £120 on a technicality.

Please advise??????

Best of all their quote was only £5 more than the next cheapest quote I had had for my motor insurance and now, it's £95 less than the best other quote I had had :)

I have always had a prompt and polite response from Quidco if I have emailed them, might be worth asking them if you are worried about something?

Thanks, I have written to them just wondered if anyone knew.

I was always under the assumption you were only supposed to start earnings enquiries if something didn't track from the very start. Not if it had tracked, and hadn't paid... Maybe I'm wrong though.

Emma, do me a favour, log in to your Quidco account and go to TSB home insurance, right to the point where you are given the link to earn cashback and read the notes at the bottom.

Let me know your interpretation of them, In my opinion they are not crystal clear and £120 is not an amount I wish to gamble with. Thanks:thumbsup:

Please advise??????

Hi, I'd renewed Household insurance policy via Barclays clicking through Quidco link (whilst logged onto Quidco account) and 1-1/2 weeks later there's no mention of the transaction tracking. Am not happy. Any suggestions?. Regarding running the rist of forfitting £120.00 on a technicality Quidco advised that affiliate payments should not be relied upon (fair comment I guess however I did rely on this whilst making a comparison against other insurance companies) :-(. Affiliate payment was £100.00 1-1/2 weeks ago and i'm unhappy missing out on that. Now the affiliate payment has gone up to £125.00 (as visitors to this thread are more than likely aware) wonder how they (Barclays/Quidco) determine who is and who is not eligible for an affiliate payment?. E-mailed Barclays but they were unable to offer any help.

Updated 15:55 07-11-06. Failed dismally to get anywhere with Barclays Customer Services. Claimed to know nothing whatsoever about Quidco and would not transfer to anyone that deals with affiliate accounts (surely there's a department that deals with Tradedoubler, CommissionJunction etc and ultimately Quidco?). Very disgruntled customer. Quidco were reasonable to deal with by e-mail however Barclays were not (neither by e-mail or phone).

Thank you.
Kind Regards.

Hi Emma, Cancelled policy with Barlcays due to the fact that they were most unhelpful by e-mail and phone. Can you confirm that a click-through via Quidco should show as tracking almost immediately or within let's say 2-3 business working days?. I'd taken out a policy with Barclays via Quidco, whilst logged into my Quidco account some 1-1/2 weeks - 2-weeks ago and the transaction is not showing at all. Shame Barclays deny all knowledge of any form of affiliate/cash-back scheme or web-site. Just my bad luck I guess as no doubt the cash-back works for many :-(. Might opt for another company and click through Quidco as £80.00 - £100 (not taking Barclays into consideration) is as i'm sure you agree a lot of money.

Kind Regards.

Does anyone know if you can use this to renew a poilicy?

As i already have house insurance with barclays but I am having to change certain elements due to moving house.

So I tested a quote via the link in quidco and it seems cheaper than I already have...

so might be worth me doing it via quidoc and maybe cancel my existing?

Dont forget kim, if you cancel, you dont get everything back

Just cancelled my policy with Zurich (renewal quote was a farce!) and got a new one with them through Quidco. The £80 is tracking for me and it works out Im paying £90 for the year for building and contents.

I did check them all but that worked out the cheapest.

For those of you whose cashbacks aint tracking, you need to make an enquiry through the 'my earnings tab' on Quidco. I had to do it in March when I joined Bingo! And only last month they paid out.

Sometimes they dont track and its not necessarily the insurance companys fault. Theres a help section on quidco for this so I wont go into it.

Kimbo dont think you can do it for renewals, as I previously said I cancelled my Zurich policy and got a new one.

My renewal form egg is £140, hopefully this cashback will make the quotes work out cheaper

Hi Kim,

According to what Barclays Insurance advised this afternoon policies are refunded pro-rata so in theory there's no penalty clause for cancelling. Can anyone confirm this at all?.

You have a min of 14 days cooling off period in which you can cancel. T&C's will tell you how long you got but FSA governs at least 14 days.

Excellent, the £125 just tracked with Barclays after 5 days. That halves my hmoe and contents insurance for this year. £250 was still a good quote anyway. :-D

23 Nov 2006Barclays Home Insurance243.00125.00ready to send

Well mine didn't track and I am still waiting on quidco to chase it up :(
#22
I still have an outstanding Barclays enquiry from 11 October. It was only £95 back then, but it's still a lot of money.

Not quidco's fault, but anyone considering going for one of these deals should be aware that the money's not guaranteed, and may take months to come through. Barclays has a pretty low tracking rate, which isn't good when combined with such high cashback!

Luckily my policy was still cheap before Quidco, otherwise I would be even more annoyed...!
#23
Worth noting that in order to give yourself the very best chance of these 'tricky' ones like LloydsTSB and Barclays to track successfully, you should 'play it by the book' and clear all your cookies before clicking thru. I actually use Firefox excusively for Quidco transactions and ALWAYS clear my cookies first. I've done most of the notoriously bad trackers and never had a problem (although Barclays has always kept me waiting EXACTLY 7 days before tracking).

Does anybody know if I can take out buildings insurance with one company, contents with a different one, getting cashback from both?

Absolutely! Contents with Barclays, buildings with LloydsTSB. Total cashback £245. Worked for my father (I did it for him). To say he's happy would be an understatement. He is effectively being paid to insure his home this year.

You could even take out a buildings policy with one insurer and THEN take out a separate contents policy with the same insurer if you want. A number of my colleagues have done this with no problems.

Here is a potential problem, if you have a seperate contents and a seperate building insurance and you have a burglary or a small fire for example. If the buildings are damaged and contents stolen you might have to pay two lots of policy excess counteracting the cashback saving, plus you generally get a discount for taking out combined contents and buildings insurance. You will have already lost this amount.

Also it's worth noting that it's not always good to put cashback thoughts in front of purchasing quality cover that meets all your needs. Home insurance is a critical purchase. Think about how you were thinking when looking at the various cashback amounts offered by the differing companies. I bet the offers of £100+ caught your eye more than the product for sale or company selling it and certainly more than the £20+ offers. It's to entice you in, and it works, even I fell for it but now I'm considering looking around again.

You can cancel policies and recieve a pro rata refund it depends on the policy wording. I do not know if the cashback received will be taken into consideration but judging by the fact that most companies seem to claim to know nothing about cashback, it's possible that it won't show on your records.:)

Prudential just gave me a quote of £530 for Building and Contents and I live in a sleepy village near the New Forest!! :?

Incidentally, I just tried all the insurers on Quidco for Car insurance and not one of them got near the What Car Insurance offered by Liverpool Victoria, even taking into account their cashback.
#29
Can I just check, can anyone confirm that they have got seperate building and contents insurance, with different suppliers? And had it tracked through Quidco?

I am looking at insurance just now, don't want to jump in head first and regret it after!

Thanks in advance :)
#30
Just taken out contents insurance with Barclays.
Quoted £126.
£125 cashback! :giggle:
Just hope it tracks. Will give it up to 14 days,if not will cancel it and try again, maybe with Lloyds.Sure the Barclays site said there was a cancellation fee of about £26 if you cancel once the policy starts.Could be wrong though, was rushing through it...
By the way...always get buildings and contents seperately for two lots of cashback!

I can only confirm that I have successfully purchased contents and home insurance seperatly from the same company and both have tracked, validated and have been recieved. Just awaiting payment which is almost certain at the end of January.

I would worry about splitting insurers due to possible potential conflicts that might arise during claiming. However as I have never been in this situation I cannot confirm that any problems would arise. I just read this on a forum somewhere and it made me think twice about using two suppliers.

Ok cool, was it Barclays you used? They seem pretty competitive, and are offering the same level of cover as my current insurer for quite a lot less, even before Quidco.

Same here. Does this mean if you take out your insurance via Quidco you get a whopping cashback?
1 Like #35
Yeah for example Llyods TSB are offering £120 cashback for Car Insurance. Not really sure how reliable they are though for getting it! So bear that in mind when looking for quotes. :)

Oh and if you sign up for Quidco, kevm52 - you put in your bank details and they can put the money straight into your account or via Paypal. But they take £5 from your earnings per year for admin costs etc. Which is no biggie really.
#36
Thanks for that magic, can you find out who's reliable or not. Rep given
#37
When you sign up and click on a merchant eg. Barclays Home Insurance, on the right hand side it tells you on average, the tracking reliability and speed, and how quickly the payments come through. WHich gives a fair indication of how reliable they are. :)
#38
Does anyone know of any of the Insurers listed on the Quidco site that cover Motorbike Insurance?

Any help would be appreciated.
#39
is there anyone here that purchased prudential car insurance through quidco?

if so how long did it take for the cashback to be recognised on your account?

Try elephant.co.uk, no cashback but they were my cheapest car quote by miles and Barclays Lloyds Tsb have never tracked for me.
