Fantastic Mr Fox DVD £4.99 @ HMV

Next best £6.99

FANTASTIC MR. FOX is visionary director Wes Anderson's first animated film, utilising classic handmade stop motion techniques to tell the story of the bestselling children's book by Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach). The film features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Wally Wolodarsky, Eric Anderson, Michael Gambon, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson, Jarvis Cocker.

Mr and Mrs Fox (Clooney and Streep) live an idyllic home life with their son Ash (Schwartzman) and visiting young nephew Kristopherson (Eric Anderson). But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr Fox's wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food to go around, the animals band together to fight against the evil Farmers - Boggis, Bunce and Bean - who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr Fox at any cost.

Wicked film. Some very strange bits that I know people won't like but all in all a very good animation. Better than the same old dross that Pixar pump out year after year!!

Loved it - very very clever and the accompanying soundtrack is quite brilliant.

Put off watching it for ages as thought it would be a kids film then suddenly noticed who directed it and that jarvis cocker sang in it and threw it in the DVD player and was blown away.

The voices from clooney and co were absolutely spot on and easily up there in my top 30 all time films.

Don't pluck out your eyes, it will expose the lack of a brain

Honestly, who comes into a post about Fantastic Mr Fox if they didn't like the movie? What were you hoping to acheive

I thought it was a very good film, really quite funny; and sub £5 is a bargain

Well I bought this in HMV two days afo and it was £7 so no it has not been £5 for ages.

I did however pick it up as an extra as part of their to for £10 so still only paid £5 anyhow

This is a terrible terrible film. A classic story murdered by a rubbish script and animation where every animal looks like they are standing in a wind tunnel. Go find a classic stop motion like Coraline.

dont waste the cash its on tv over the next couple of weeks

Not your fault, OP, but it really winds me up when Hollywood studios buy up a perfectly good story and proceed to change it completely, while keeping the original title.

It is even more irritating when it's a British story, altered to make people think it's an American one.

In this way, people who see the movie come away believing they know the story, which they certainly do not.

Fantastic Mr Fox is a classic British story by Roald Dahl. This American movie, cashing in on the title, bears no resemblance whatsoever to Dahl's story. Only the title is the same!

Poxy Hollywood does this all the time!! Dahl's other classic children's story, Matilda, was another one stolen by the Yanks, who set it in USA instead of England.

i know - my lad was Dahl mad for ages and was desperate to see this - both he and us were disapointed - i just posted it because it was a good price for the film ;)

Make sure your kids read the book before they watch any Dahl adaptation. Seeing the film first stifles the imagination, and for great books like these, that is a crime.
