Very good quality bike d-lock / u-lock. Currently much cheaper than any other sources I can find with free p&p. now back to 53.99, if I could work out how to expire via the mobile app, I would.

sod it. just bought it. Seems biggest thing is peace of mind. I'll deal with the consequences of a naff bracket. Thanks OP.

Save your self the trouble and don't bother with the bracket. I thought I'd give it a try and after only a few hours use it came loose and my lock started swinging about... the lock is also really noisy when even riding over the tiniest bumps!

I ended up taking off the metal bit on the lock that slotted into the stupid bracket (just need to loosen a little allen bolt thing and it slides right off) and now it lives in my backpack.

The lock its self is great. If the key doesn't want to turn (happens sometimes) don't force it. Just make sure the keys in properly ^^
This is a great lock. Had mine for a couple of years now. Brought off Amazon. Agree with other post, its quite heavy though so i leave mine at work in our bike racks.

Definitely recommend them.

Easier to steal New York. But it's also nearly as heavy to carry around.
Not as easy as the circular key New Yorks recalled a good few years back. The one I had replaced by Kryptonite could be broken into very easily with a biro!!
I've had a Kryptonite D-lock for more than 15 years now. It uses a circular key - is the lock really easy to pick? oO
Youtube 'kryptonite bic pen' may well answer your question.

7mm chain, you won't be keeping whatever you attach it to for long!!
Hardened vanadium steel is a very different proposition to a mild steel bolt.

At this thickness it's irrelevant a bolt cropper or hacksaw would take 20 seconds, a cordless grinder under 2 seconds. I've been burgled, these chains are nothing to thieves

It's only 7mm chain link, so not a great price, you can get 10mm link for the same price
Superman could do with one of these

its quite a crappy bike and i only have it parked in my buildings hallway and only ever use it when i go to the shop for 10 mins so do not want to get a expensive mega lock.

There are plenty on eBay for around 5-10 pounds.

I have a pretty crappy bike that I rarely use but need a lock. Could someone recommend me a cheaper lock than this? This one seems a bit overkill for me. Id like to spend around £5-10

Please let me know where you park so that I can park next to yours.

Best deterrent is to lock your bike next to one which has a flimsy lock.

I'd never try and secure a bike with one of these - they're designed for quick release units - seats and wheels - to stop people walking off with them.

Cool I was actually looking into chainrings/sets/crank sets yesterday for my Roam (XR3) which I bought from a deal off here a while ago.

Being a novice in the matter of bikes I was having trouble finding what I needed - but this looks like the one and they also do the 36t on sale.

So thanks!
48 teeth! make sure you can fit this amount as most are upto 42.

do people still steal bikes these days? God its like the 80's all over again!

With some bikes about costing more than a second hand hatchback I'd say bicycles are targeted more so than cars today.

funnily enough, it's the glut of £500-£1000 commuter bikes that are targeted the most. I think the Specialized Allez is the most targeted bike due to it's popularity. It's easier to get rid of them. Something ridiculous like 25% of all thefts reported are an allez.

Good lock this, use it as your primary and get a smaller D for the front wheel to frame.

Crumbs. My Long Shackle version turned up today.

Solid as a rock (if rocks were made out of steel) but it's going to be far too heavy for everyday use. I think I might have to send it back - which will probably cost me more than the lock itself!
Back in stock, but £46 now.

Chav proof?
Its kryptonite. Its super chav proof. Lol
it wont be super lue proof no matter how much u spend on any type of lock (_;)

What options do you have if you find that somebody HAS gummed/super-glued your lock? Would you have to call the 'non-emergency' fire brigade?

Even then I suppose you'd have to have proof that it really was your bike.
they say "prevention is better than cure" Im not getting into senseless waffle comments either take on board my hopefully useful info or just forget i ever said a word the choice is yours or not and thats my last word on the subject for this particular op, have a stress free biking day guys ;)

I'm genuinely a little confused as to who you'd have to contact if you did end up having your lock sabotaged. Seems a little odd to get defensive over this legitimate concern.

Confront the bike crooks with animated gifs from the Internet circa 1998? Cunning!

These did sell out but have since restocked.

Ceased the opportunity and have ordered one :)
I am currently working in Holland and have been for the last couple of years, so far 2 of my bikes have been stolen with one being stolen jsut last week.

I had a solid padlock and chain on mine but the problem here is the bike thieves don't use bolt cutters they use battery powered angle grinders no lock stands a chance!

Check out YouTube on how to use a Bic pen to open the lock :-(

You can't open this lock with a bic pen, that problem affected locks with tubular keys and not just kryptonite either.
