In my day if you wanted to see valves lit up you took the back off the telly.
Didn't cost owt either.
:)

Doesn't the garbage in, garbage out rule apply here? The input coming from an IPod is hardly a quality feed me think.

Nice looking piece of kit. Would make a feature of a normally boring ipod.

My dad's got the original, sound quality is poor, very light on bass, and none of the settings store (treble, bass) therefore every time you turn it back on its resets to default. Tedious.

I have this its going back on tuesday, load of rubbish, lack of bass, valves and magic eye stay lit when in standby and when switched off loses bass & treble settings. It is a gimmick ended up buying a ilive from asda for £50 and it knocks the socks of this fatman.

i paid less than this when i bought it but it is a great device and far better than the mark 1 version and one of the best sounding ipod docks around for the money, it does require a little tweeking as the sound does need a little treble and bass uplift using the tone controls and yes it's annoying it doesn't remember it but only a couple of button pushes so no big deal - love the valve sound even though its only for the pre amp stage - also replaced my tubes for very little money for a pair of classic 70s tubes off ebay imported from sweden

there is no way an ilive from asda sounds better unless you made your own speakers out of paper and bell wire!

It's more than good enough to expose the inaccuracies of a valve amp! Some people like that though.

Valves always used to last longer if they were kept powered up, besides they'll look better while powered, and this device seems to be more about looks than anything else.
