Have a night in with Andy Gray for just £4.11 (he has some unexpected spare time on his hands at the moment).

Paperback Autobiography of course titled ''Gray Matters''. Unfortunate title as apparently Grey doesn't matter any more according to Sky Sports.

Poor poor Andy

Or maybe she was treated badly by a couple of her male colleagues. Just a thought.

Is that a known phrase for this sort of thing? I must admit, I have never, ever heard it called smashed before seeing it on the news tonight. I'm not a celebrity mind you.

Unfortunately, yes it is. I've overheard this phrase during many a conversation - particularly in pubs/clubs/backstage where chauvanist ar$e40les refer to females as objects that can be owned. I'm no pro-feminist, but I think any human being referred to as 'it' is pretty demeaning.
Lad culture? Pah.
No culture.

Or it could have been a male crew member that just didn't like him or the way he carried on, who says it had to be a woman...

agreed, either he'd upset someone which isnt too hard knowing the way gray seems to behave or its a scandal linked to his libel case against the NOW re: phone tapping...and NOW are owned by.......? clue Murd__k

I think it's a shame he is a bit creepy. As far as his knowledge of football goes, there is no other pundit out there who comes close, although one or two other pundits aren't bad. His probable replacement is Jamie Redknapp, who although looks a bit better than his dad, is like a ventriloquist's dummy sitting there spouting the obvious. Gray sees thing in the game in a second that others can't.
Oh well, better get off to work.

Might have something to do with him suing the NOTW. He's probably had a reputation for it and they took their chance. Keys was collateral damage.

Hopefully they'll lower the sky subs now they don't have to pay these two jokers for ruining their TV programs. I've yet to find anybody who liked them.

Blah blah blah, how this even makes front page news is beyond me... surely there are more important things going on in the world? So what he made a comment, its a joke and many people say the same thing everyday, and women make stereotypical jokes about men all the time too.

Now what happened with big Ron a few years ago I can understand and he deserved it, but this is ridiculous. I liked hearing Andy Gray, he knows his **** when it comes to football...

I wonder how many of us before the liverpool wolves match made the joke about the female linesman/lineswoman/linesperson? She is a proffesional and very good at her job but most people though and joked about it before the match. Going back to the deal which is why we are here. Might buy it for a read see if it is any good and this seems a good price for it.

:D You are joking..aren't you...you're not...oh...oO

As an ex-bluenose, Andy Gray has never given us an inch. The only times he says anything positive is when the (sadly rare) amazing happens. I only wish that the commentry from my local radio station was in synch with Sky Sports HD so I didn't have to listen to Andy Gray. However, I don't have to any more!

I disliked hearing Andy Gray, he spoke **** when it comes to football...
There you go, I fixed it for you (_;)

Admittedly, he did know his stuff, but I always thought that he made snap decisions and stuck to them, even when the replays showed otherwise...for all teams

As a Sky Sports Subscriber for 20 years Andy Gray is a Legend and his sacking is a ridiculous and unjustified overreaction.

Though the comments that Andy Gray and some of his other Sky Sports colleagues made about the female lineswoman were inappropriate, they were made in a private conversation off air and were never intended for broadcast. The remarks were no different to the kind of comments that a large number of male viewers would have joked with their mates about when they heard that there was a female lineswoman.

The second incident that he was apparently sacked for regarding jokingly asking a female colleague to help with tucking in his shirt is the kind of bantering conversation that would happen between male and female colleagues in workplaces all over the U.K. every single day. With this apparently being the last straw that saw Andy Gray get sacked you just have to wonder what the world is coming to?

Everybody I've spoken with at work feels exactly the same about this issue and personally I am absolutely gutted by the sacking of Andy Gray and the "voice of football" will be sorely missed.

Adding Sky Sports to a new package costs £20.25

£1.7 million means that 6,995 Sky Sports subscribers were needed just to pay Gray's salary each year.

He wasn't that good.

It clicked after I'd posted, forgot he'd played for Everton.

The first comment was fine, it was private and imo you are entitled to say whatever you like in a private conversation.

The 2nd incident was out of order. If some guy in my work approached me holding his trousers open, asking me to tuck his shirt in, I would feel small, intimidated and a bit sick to be honest.

I love all the banter at work etc and love a good laugh, but just don't embarrass someone and make them feel small, which is what I think he did.

I don't think he should have been sacked but I do think he should have been given a warning.

My opinion.

I'd bet a substantial sum that this isn't the only thing that got him the sack. Whether we find out about other allegations/misdemeanours will depend largely on whether he sues Sky in court for unfair dismissal

she is a good lineswoman!!!

Andy Gray deserved what he got, to be honest. I hope he learns his lesson that in 2011, it's not acceptable for people to be regurgitating old Bernard Manning routines and passing them off for legitimate comment.

I love how half of the 'it was only a joke' brigade here go on to undermine their own sentiment by being pretty horrible, haha!
#27
Yes but also this episode shows that it is more acceptable to be a Bernard Manning or a Jim Davidson than to make the occasional private tongue in cheek sexist/racist comment and get caught out. That surely can't be right..?
